Idk if this is general knowledge but I was curious regarding the differences between Fuelcell and Abzorb so I ended up with this table while messing on Gemini.
Personally I like better Abzorb.

I can't figure out if I tie my 933 rabbit goes around the tree and down the hole or down the hole and around the tree? I think the lace length to forefoot wiggle ratio is really off and IDK if I need wides or .6 sizes up. Would be sick if NB let us scan our feet and printed insoles, until they do I'm sticking to my core brands to support skater owned companies that haven't been owned by skaters in 20 years.

Comparison of the wides vs standards. It really is just a bit more material on the same sole...

For what it's worth,  I was reading about wide sizing in many boot brands, and that's exactly how they do it. You purchase for length of the sole and the width accommodation comes from the upper material. At least that's what I gathered, I'm no expert.

definitely not industry standard. width isn't vertical volume. if you actually have wide feet they are going to be hanging over the edges of the sole

I put my chips on a big yes and also probably they will replace the 808 since I feel that what 1010 offers is quite different from the 933 and the latter being close to a 808 feel that will be gone since 808l are nothing like their og counterpart.
I could totally make it with having the 933 and 1010 options and ditch 808 both of and lights. Also is quite rare to see a pro with 2 pro shoes at the same time.

I have a question for shoe nerds about energy return on skate shoes. Is energy return really a good thing for skateboarding? I mean from a biomechanichal perspective, does more energy return means more energy (or weight/shock) going back to the body? I understand that technology for running because it "springs" your foot making it run a lil bit faster, but in skateboarding I don't really see the benefits besides confort.
Also does shock absorption means energy absorption which would be the opposite of energy return? Sorry if it is the wrong thread, but I'd love some insight from designers about those topics.
@Sk.A.T.A.N I'm thinking about Boost or FuelCell.

'Energy return' (like fuel cell) is propulsion - so propelling you forward while you're pushing, or adding a little extra snap when you pop for tricks.

'Shock absorption' (like abzorb) is the absorption of impact - like softening the impact when you land.

Both things would be helpful in a skate shoe for different reasons. In shoes for sports like basketball and tennis, you'll see design elements that aim for both things - like a shank or harder foam in part of the midsole for propulsion, AND a softer foam or airbag under the heel and forefoot to absorb impact.

It's not really a 'one or the other' thing - part of the science in designing athletic shoes is trying to encompass multiple elements in different parts of the shoe. Though some shoes will emphasize one more than the other, to accommodate different athletes and different preferences (i.e. in basketball, a centre needs different things from their shoes than a point guard).

This explains why my Numeric 574 "wides" have the narrowest sole of any shoe I own.

lol gaslighting to figure out your shoe size, that's a wild concept. I don't post YT comments and didn't watch this video since the questions about what makes a wide NB wide were already answered here many times. I also don't need wide shoes.

But yes, my nuts are ever present in your mouth. It's a weird obsession you have.

Stoked that finally I got my 933 but bummed since it seems that I hit the defective jackpot :(
Anybody else had something like this in their pair?
You can even see some kind of glue fix in there.

Snagged a pair out of our office promo to sort you out on these Moon.  Ben sent me your address.  Just luck of the draw as we produced thousands of pairs of these, every once in a while you get a weird glue issue.
I’ve picked up every colorway of 933 so far. Just got grey days in from a shop and the QC control monster finally got me too. I figured I’d share

Not exactly sure what’s happening here but seems like the foam didn’t fully pour or something. Gonna skate them anyway. Were they falling apart for you moonordie?

Thats just how they come. I wouldn't say thats a QC issue. Its literally like that in the official product pics:
https://www.newbalance.com/pd/nb-numeric-andrew-reynolds-933/NM933V1-49522.html?dwvar_NM933V1-49522_style=NM933GDY#dwvar_NM933V1-49522_style=NM933BST&dwvar_NM933V1-49522_width=D&pid=NM933V1-49522&quantity=1

I got 2 pairs of size 13 wides in brown (sold one)... and they both had this. Its fine, won't fall apart or anything.

Yep you’re right on the money, just compared them with my other two pairs and they’re all slightly different. Wasn’t really concerned just wanted to share after seeing moonordie’s post. I bought three pairs so it wasn’t gonna stop me from wearing them ha.

Mine does that on one shoe. The other is flush. So it’s a minor flaw, but not really a big deal. I’ve yet to see a perfect pair of shoes from any brand lol. They all have issues if you examine them closely.

I hate to be a sizing question guy, but I wear a ten and a half in every NB shoe I've tried except the og 808. Should I try 10.5 in the reynolds? Or go with 11 which works on the 808? It's a length not width sizing difference. Thanks to anyone with any insight

Get a 10.5.

Just got my gray 933s in, they look great! Excited to try out the mesh toe. It's def more of a dad shoe look without the black N backing the smaller N and without the extra panel of color on the heel tho; makes it look a little more svelt. Best shoes.

Aslo, my olive pair have the same sort of shit going on in th e above photos, they're holding up fine (the gray days, however, do not have this).

Skated them only once and I couldn't feel anything wrong with them. I has the feeling that it would be a aesthetic thing more than anything and I'm pretty sure I'm right. In my case shoe had some kind of super glue applied, even in the sole (where the Abzorb pops out on the bottom).
I'll keep skating them, I'm sure it will be ok.
I posted the pictures to know if that happened to anybody else regarding the suspicious looking super glue thing.
Ofc this won hold me from buying more pairs since the session I had with them it was an extremely enjoyable one.
Usually I skate the 808 because of how it works for me but I never fully liked the looks. Now I feel that the 933 works better and I really like the look despise my first impressions months ago.

Oh this is disappointing and deceptive. This explains why my “wide” 440 V2s hurt like hell when I wear them.

Is there any plans for REAL wide shoes? I need that in order to actually wear cupsoles.

Oh no, a dude named BeachChicken doesn't respect me!? What shall I do lol.

You gotta stop projecting. I'm a 38 year old skater (started at 34), slightly overweight—I don't expect anyone to think I'm "cool". How old are you? 😅

Anyway, back to the shoe talk.

Beach Chicken is slang for pigeon, the Anti Hero logo, and a term used in some of the OG marketing banter. I got it from Frank Gerwer, who you may or may not know is a pro skateboarder that rides for the brand and works for this company called DLX.

I'm 38. I started up a tad younger than you but I have followed skating and participated most of my life. I don't hoarde shoes and gear I don't skate and don't lie about my glorified longboarding on the internet while giving product reviews.

And yes, back to shoes.

All this 933 talk, but I wanna see some new 600 colorways!   New season in June?

Went back pages but where the new 600 colorways at! Grabbed a pair of them recently and they might be perfect.

par for the course actually
and objectively entertaining
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo
