The quality on my brown 933s could be better. Doubt it'll affect anything, but I haven't seen this on my other pairs. The sole is rough in other spots too. I'll keep them because size 14s are gone now lol.

That's some bad colorbleeding... But quick fix would be painting it with a sharpie, lil shoe make-up yk

Not the worst thing but now what you expect from the most expensive skate shoe on the market from a company that prides itself on QC.

This might be a weird question, but then again, Slap is pretty weird: does anyone feel they have better control of their ollies with suede shoes as opposed to "normal" leather? Oh yeah, and talking cupsoles here.

"Asking for a homie."
[close]

Yes. I feel like I’m slip sliding around with leather, but got that kung fu grip with suede. Cupsole, vulc, doesn’t matter to me, same result with uppers.

You guys are all so lucky to be able to flick and ollie still...all I do is slappy these days  :)

This is how I’m starting to feel it’s gonna be like. My Ollie’s aren’t very good so I stick to slappys. I still Ollie a lot because I don’t want to lose them but they are rarely good. Getting old sucks

They really shouldn’t have left the factory in this state. QC must’ve glanced at them for two seconds and moved them down the line. But hey, shit happens. Those poor workers don’t get paid enough to catch everything.

I was cool with them at first, but now they’re triggering my OCD a little. The defect makes the runner toe look sloppy from the top down view.

Long time fanatic of the 440 og.  Just got the new version in mid top.  Just been walking around in them a little. They seem comfortable at first, but become uncomfortable over time. Foot feels a bit to snug and the board feel is gone?  Not sure im going to be able to skate in them. What has happened to my favorite shoe?
They laughed when I told my friends that I was going to be a comedian.....well they are not laughing now!

I had similar issues with them at first. They do feel clunkier and more uncomfortable initially. Unlike the 440 og, the V2 need a bit more time to break in. Skate them, have a faith in them, don't tie them up too tight at first. They'll feel great eventually. The boardfeel will be there, too.

Man I wish they kept the same look/fit of the v1 while just beefing up the sole to where the v2 is.

V2 scrunches my toes too hard, don't like the big "N" either. The V1 had a more retro look which suits me more than the v2

I'm sure it's been gone over and over in here and I saw that some mentioned to get the same size as the v1...but it seems like many people are saying their toes are getting the scrunch. Is this a matter of same size being slightly tight, but sizing uo is too big?

The v1 fit me pretty tts.  I got the v2 in the same size but the wides, and I feel like the v1s were wider if that helps.  Length seems to be the same on both.

Yea, I would still go the same size. V1 or v2

The toe scrunch from the v2 comes from the revised toebox shape being more narrow/pointy than the v1

Still tts in terms of length though imo. I wouldn't size up personally

Yeah, they might feel a bit snug initially, but I haven't had to size up. Once broken in (be patient), the same size as in the V1 feels just right.

This might of course be subjective. I do miss the perfect fit and 3 seconds of break-in time of the V1 myself.

No experiences on V1, but V2 high is pretty much my dream show coming from 933s and 1010s. Did V1 differ much in terms of midsole?

I could skate both enjoyably, but yeah, the V1 seems/seemed to have less midsole especially in the forefoot. Which, on the other hand, equalled to excellent boardfeel.

Maybe someone from New Balance will correct this, but I don't think they changed anything about the midsole from 440 V1 to V2. There certainly isn't any midsole under the forefoot in either one. This is the V2 cut in half by Weartested:

I've never been a high-top skater but my ankles are sensitive ass little bitch babies these days. Not so much with impact or rolling, but with deck checks into the ankle bone.

Anyone with hands on experience with the 440 v2 Highs and the 480 Highs able to compare them?

Jumping on this wagon but regarding how the heel feels on the 480 high regarding lows.

The Reynolds 933 fits pretty much perfect in a 12, while 440 V1 was 11.5 for me. The 12 was too loose, but the 11.5 was almost too narrow and tight throughout the whole shoe. Is the 440 V2 any better in terms of fit or is it pretty close to V1?

Haven't had a chance to try one on in my size in a shop yet!

Also, that 933 "Jansport" colorway feels like their worst colorway so far.  Love the color blocking idea, but I think the execution fell short on that one.  The chocolate and all green one are excellent!!

Jumping on this wagon but regarding how the heel feels on the 480 high regarding lows.
I have the 480 highs and lows and the 440v2 highs. I've only skated the high top versions of both shoes so far though. I would recommend the 440v2s if you're more used to vulcs or thinner cupsoles and you're looking for something similar. The 480 highs are way bulkier everywhere, mainly the sole and the ankle padding. That could also be a positive thing if you're looking for something more supportive and don't care as much about the boardfeel. I run my 440v2s with Superfeet insoles now, or else they'd be too thin for my liking, but the 480 highs with the stock insoles was enough padding for me. 440v2s also have a pointier toe, while the 480s have a wider, more bulbous toe if that makes sense.

@moonordie Are you asking about the heel slip on the 480 lows? If so, it's non-existent on the high tops. And while the heel is definitely more raised than the 440v2s, it's not a difference that I think would contribute to any ankle rolls.

tldr: These two shoes are pretty different overall and I would base your purchase on how thick of a shoe you're looking for.

^ Id agree with all of the above except that the narrow heel + upper sitting kinda on top of the sole on the 480 definitely makes it significantly less stable than the 440 for me. Doesnt seem to bother some people but for personally, Im much more prone to rolling my shit in the 480 than 440. Many people seem to agree.

The Jansport is my favorite colorway by far! I even doubled up which I never do. Looks so sick in person and on foot.

Agreed, but I can see how the leather brown panel can be loved or hated.   I think it’s a cool little pop of something different, but I can see wanting it incorporated more or not at all

There's just wayyy too much going on, imo. Saw them in hand and of course,  they are better than the stock photos. Still, it's far too busy on a shoe that's already so busy panel-wise. The monochromatic colorways with light accent colors  that contrast the main color seem to be the more pleasing styles for my tastes.

Good to know about 440V2 and 933!! Thanks!
I wanted to like 440V1 but it didn't quite sell me, even though I tried the lows/highs to see if it was the shoe or if it was me. Ended up selling them/donating them since I didn't even wanna walk around in them. Maybe 440V2 will be better because I want more mid/high top cuspoles beyond my Dunks/Rap Highs I've been skating
