found a pair for venture 5.8 titaniums for $85 USD shipping included. really steep price for be trucks, would it be worth it to get them now? or i could wait until dlx production resumes

If you had the cash to blow go ahead but it seems incredibly steep, a pal sold me a lightly used pair for $45 a few months back. The trucks were great, just not for me; I could not handle the girth of anything past 8.125. Past a certain point the lightness of a truck works against the board, see Tensor Maglights.

While I disagree because it all honestly comes down to preference. How worn out are the ventures. I think Titanium trucks brand new are around that price actually. If they’re not so bad it may be reasonable.

Yeah I'm definitely the wrong person to ask, I shop for skate stuff on sale and sort by price ascending.

Wait, there’s another way?
Honestly, I try to buy anything reasonably priced/cheap but it’s important to keep performance in mind. For example, got some Titanium Thunders for 50 USD at the time this was a steal and I was excited. Thunders are great and all but durability wise (I’m mainly talking about kingpin clearance). I think that titanium isn’t appreciated as much, (any DLX employee on here, will gladly eat my words for a few sets). Which is why now that parts have been harder to find Ventures and Indys have shined. I’ve stuck to slappies and the clearance has been more helpful.

Thinkin about trying a workshop deck. Anyone got any commentary on the current shape? Pics kinda make it look like a fa/quasi with a longer tail
[close]

very much enjoying modern alien shapes.  you are correct, big nose and tail but very functional.
[close]
I just finished skating one after 3-4 weeks and the wood/shape was solid the whole time. Nose was fairly square/full but the tail was stubby and not long at all. Not to be a dick, but I don't see how the AWS have long, big tails? Unless my 8.5" shape differed from other shapes that do have this longer tail?
Quite similar to FA/Quasi crom what I can tell, but not as steep. Definitely the shortest tail I've skated lately, but I didn't mind it once I broke the board in. It wasn't painfully short like those horrible WKND tails...

Alien literally sells a twin nose shape. So if you get one of those your tail will be pretty big. If you get a different shape, you will have a different tail. All depends on what you pick up.

I got mine for 75 on energy Skateshop’s website. Unless there’s a sale probably won’t get much cheaper than that

Super happy with my current board, specially because is local and that means way lower price.
I'll be ordering another one but this time a little smaller, 8.375, + a hoodie from the same brand.

id say depends height of trucks / risers. Also how much cruising too. 54mm will roll more. My 54mm still give me wb, they’re a pretty wide/full shape. I’m on 53.5mm high trucks rn. I’m 200lbs but have firmer bushings in too.

For me with any truck over 52mm height, you're good to go with 54s. Ride mine pretty mediumish. For longevity they are also better.

Love Tiago as a skater but those shoes wouldn't look out of place on a white dude mowing his lawn.

Well, I lied my interest has been peaking for a while but I always hated on them. Recently, I tried someone’s board with ventures, and me thinking they don’t turn was very surprised that they feel just like indies with less wobble. So now I want to get some but my only concern is I like to skate chunky ledges so my only question is will they grind down fast? And is the grind still smooth, like ace?

For chunky ledges, atleast for me, they feel awful compared to Indys. Metal feels harder than other trucks so the grind is not as smooth.

Edit: not trying to bash Ventures, they are great truck and some things i prefer them over Indys.

Tempted to try the Mag Light ATG from Tensor. Are they worth it? Or should I wait/look for the Alloys?

I really liked my ATG’s for the most part. I liked how they would grind but I ran through them pretty quick due to the metal.

Get the aluminum ones if you don't wanna spend money for the magnesium. They feel good, unfortunately i bent my axle after month and half. Stay away from the Alloys tho, there is a reason why they are that cheap.

a single ply crack turned into me snapping my hockey yesterday. time for a new deck and i might have to get one to put on ice, granted i find one in stock.

quasi proto 8.5/32.125/14.25 wb
similar to the shape i just came off of, but also heard its going to feel more like an 8.625 with ps wood compared to a bbs 8.5 somewhere. would be a welcome change if true. first time on a fresh ps deck so im looking forward to compare the two.

sour solution 8.75/32/14.1 wb
been looking for an 8.75 with a short to standard wb in vain for the last few weeks and this might be the ticket. borrowed a homies creature with the same dims (give or take) and my consistency went up and tres swung around with less thought and effort. i dont have the ventures that fit but i dont mind the magic carpet ride which forces a good landing or immediate wheelbite. would have to do that until the drought is over

Thinking about one of the shaped Polar boards with wheel wells. 1991, Dane 1, or a Shin Surf (if I can find one).

For those that have tried them, how are the wheel wells and do they make a difference? I usually run Ace 44s or 55s (preference on 55s lately).
