I feel like vans will do one thing great on a shoe and then another that totally negates it. The AVE is a perfect example, so much tech but then the mesh on the Ollie area is literally just a thin mesh with nothing under it and I had to use shoe goo in the first week or two. No 100 dollar shoe should have that big of an oversight
[close]

YES, that's what this was reminding me of, thanks. I saw a dude at the park a while ago ripping with them. I asked how he liked them, he pointed to the duct tape over his ollie hole. Said the sole was the best thing vans has done, but it's made pointless by the other issues. Shame cause the pro models generally look sick.

Designed for pros who get boxes of shoes sent to them regularly, not good for regular Joes who have to pay for these shoes out of pocket.

Kalis LE shoes in grey, so nostalgic for those shoes, doesn't help that I've heard nothing but good things bout them.
i have aves coming. Was I trippin?

I've been rockin' the AVEs with 0 problem with that mesh area. My ollies don't hit that part. I'm guessing AVEs don't either.

Eyeing this one but every time I put together a second setup I end up selling it so probably is a better idea to stock on boards for the future. Maybe that 8.5 first Kader pro model which just arrived in here.

This lockdown situation got me thinking of a portable ledge. Came across a portable 8ft rail for $35, brand spanking new but it got snapped up in an hour.
Anyone used one of these portable ledges before? I would be happy to keep using this post virus, there's an empty lot near my home that I could set this up away from the crowds of the park, just invite friends over to session this.

If it is the element freshpark one, it kinda sucks. The legs are too narrow for the hole in the ledge so it wobbles like a bitch.

Anyone wear the Supra Elevate?

If so, do they skate well and how's the sizing?

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0009/3834/4509/files/ELEVATE_SUPRA_BLACK_2000x.progressive.jpg?v=1564948714

They skate well for sure. I'm on my first pair, have another on ice. Good flick and support. I wear a 9/9.5 and a 9 fits me very comfortably.

Yeah that one looks janky as hell, I've seen some on Amazon but the shipping to Asia would be killer. I'm thinking of getting it made locally at a local metal & wood shop that can be dismantled and snapped together.

Although it’s going to be more expensive it might be more rewarding building your own box how you want it.
I made mine the exact size to fit in my Subaru so I take it to most garage sessions

considering getting a real full se 8.25 or something similar for my indy 144s, my current 8.25 is almost shot. also looking at the primitive 8.375 for my 149s, but that's further down the road.

If you're into short wb the primitive 8.625" shape has 14" wb. Iirc 7.2" nose, 6.9" tail.
8.35" full se has 14.25" wb? Pretty standard for that width. Alien/Habitat, Baker B2 of the top of my head. Polar 8.25" has 14.125" wb..

I think 14.25" is my sweet spot, although it depends on the length of the tail too. currently got a Baker 8.25 and 8.475 which both rock, but ones a little small and the other is a little big. looking for something in the middle.

antihero has a pretty bitchin ass shape the 8.28 x 31.7-31.8 not sure on the wb and tail length but I have always been intrigued by that one and that’s the perfect length for me hehe typing that made me chuckle

went same size as blazer gt lows. Toe space similar. I guess half down? Heel lockdown is amazing. Feels like a little suede back there in the lining. Makes it harder to sliip on and off.

I've built numerous wooden boxes in the past of varying levels of success. Back then I stayed in a much larger apartment complex so storage wasn't an issue.

Now I'm living with my wife in a much smaller public apartment, so I can't  leave the ledge out unattended. Space is also a constraint, ideally I would like to be able to dismantle the ledge and store it indoors. Lastly, car ownership is the exception, not the norm in my country, sold mine off a year ago when I switched careers.

Hence I'm looking at something light and portable that I can bring to the abandoned parking lot nearby to setup.

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

One of my favorite shapes of the past couple years. I skated a few in a row at one point. It’s been a little while and I’ve really been considering getting another.

That Tom Remillard SC shape looks fun, it's almost 9" but has an 14.25" WB
Also, some Ace 55s
(Both of these are mad unnecessary with how much stuff I have on deck at the moment)
Nothing I do deserves more than an iphone camera.

Thinking about getting a pair of State Key slip on's the only thing is I got them in a 10 last year and they felt like 12s every time i went to pop an ollie my foot fell out, how many sizes should i go down? I'm usually a 10 or 9.5 in most brands.

not really i tried some but they were hand me downs and they didn't have the stock bushings (they had bones) and want to try then again for 8.38-9.0 boards but ben definitely made me more eager, I bought ace 44s in january so after i kill them I will try the 151s again, i would go for 159 hollows but i dont dig indy right now
