you are tripping

also, i hate forged hollow indy’s. i’m not indy guy tho. but if i was, id skate 159s, cast tho. those ones are good. they are heavy as fuck and feel awesome.

i hate the pop on forged hollow indy’s. lots of people love it, so don’t listen to me. i used to always be bummed on how heavy indys were. i think that was a mistake on my part, probably should have stuck with regular 139s, my baby strength self wanted to move up
to 149s like the real ones, and i just couldn’t do it.
now that i have given up and know, emphatically, that’s it is all my fault, i don’t worry about not being able to do lots of tricks. the 3-6 flip tricks im clutching onto will or won’t, but it isn’t the setup.
blah blah blah 159s are dope, but the real ones

I wanted to try the forged ones first since they are the same height as Ace AF-1 (my goldilocks truck) and I think I need the quicker pop vs heft since I have the ankles of a 70 year old.

I’m on stage 11 149 standards for my first Indy’s since the late 90’s and they are heavy as shit and very tall compared to the setup I had before with Thunder 147’s. I’m going to replace them and flipping back and forth between Forged Hollow 149 Indy’s or 149 standard Thunder. If I hadn’t recently felt first hand how much the Thunder base plate issue effects me it wouldn’t be a question but damn the slide on Indy is so much easier.

That sure is a big jump from Thunder 147s to Indy standard 149s - board size upgrade along with everything else or just trying something new / different?

Overall I tend to find the lower trucks too low, as I am very used to Indy standards for pretty much everything, but a lot of people go for the forged baseplate option just to lower the truck (and lighten it some too) so either hollow axle or even ti axle to really lighten the load a lot.

Not even going to offer Indy mids as an option, but some people really do like the lower Indy trucks too - just not too many.

I guess it just comes down to what you are used to before, compared to what you are on now, but overall most changes don't take too long to get reasonably comfortable with after a few sessions or so.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

6 more days till the K ron troll is of this building. I’m going to celebrate with an order from orchard and Levi. You know now the package destroyer is outa here!

We’re going to have a big barbecue. The whole building is on eggshells this week. No way to live but the release is going to be that much sweeter.

I’m getting a 8.25 egg with 5.2s and some new 97s. Like maybe the Pedro 57s and I’m getting the big beat downs finally.
I’ll get some ipaths and I’m getting a box of shrink to fits.

Building a new spiky jacket this coming month and a new belt as well

Really contemplating the Pedro 55mm 97as but can't justify it, at least until I crack into my 93s that have been sitting on the  book shelf since they came out.

8.75 deck with mellow kicks. Can be an egg, shaped, whatever. It’ll be fun to walk into the shop and see what is waiting for me on those walls.

If it is not gripped before you see it, check the top between front bolts, usually a number from I through to IV, just so you know what number in the press you have, not that it is everything to what the board will be like, a I being steepest, a IV being more mellow, but even from the Woodshop thread reply a while back, some of the same boards can be way steeper and some way more mellow.

At least that way you will know what it is and if you prefer steeper or not as steep boards, also assuming it is BBS (Mexico) vs the new non USA boards, which will have Made in China on the sticker and no numbers stamped into the board.

The Indy’s are on an entirely different setup. 8.75 Heroine symmetrical egg, indy 149 stage 11 standard, spitfire F4 54mm classics vs my other setup 8” Santa Cruz Tom Asta taper tip shape, Thunder 147 team edition, Spitfire F4 52mm OG classics.

I’ve been exclusively skating the egg with Indy’s for a couple weeks and have gotten used to the weight but I cannot manual on this setup at all.  Even though both setups are different they are the same length and wheelbase so I’m not sure if it’s the height or weight difference or a combination of both on the Indy’s. Still undecided on what trucks to get next. Actually considering slappy hollows now.

Of the three or so different Antihero / DLX 8.5 boards, overall the shapes are very middle of the road, not pointy, not full or square, so you should be good there.

I know it is different in person to seeing them in pictures online, but I often go to somewhere like Tactics to check out what I would consider fairly reasonable pics and info.  Being in Australia, I am just looking, but they can help a whole lot, without seeing the boards in person first.

https://www.tactics.com/anti-hero/skateboard-decks

Specifically:

Shorter 8.5 (same as the blue eagle)

https://www.tactics.com/anti-hero/cardiel-superpowered-85-skateboard-deck

Width (in):   8.5
Length (in):   31.85
Wheelbase (in):   14.25
Nose Length (in):   6.75
Tail Length (in):   6.5

Longer 8.5 (the middle size 8.5)

https://www.tactics.com/anti-hero/hewitt-grimple-beach-85-skateboard-deck

Width (in):   8.5
Length (in):   32.18
Wheelbase (in):   14.38
Nose Length (in):   7.0
Tail Length (in):   6.5

Then there are the Tru Fit, or the AH Short which are different again.  Sorry there might be too many options now, but they have all of them around, just check the graphic against the AH Catalog at DLXSF.COM if you are not sure.

God know I don't need more shot but these damn end of summer sales make it really hard to say no.
I have on my shopping cart some brown/black 1010, some Antix pants and a SkateDeluxe puffer vest.
Sale is ending on Friday and usually by then they add even bigger discounts so I'm waiting for that and for anything that's on my list to be sold so I won't spend money on it.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

The Adams egg from Black Label has been calling me. I won’t see it in a shop by me and don’t want to order it sight unseen, so it’s prob never going to happen. Unless there is a sale.

There are lots of them out there, quite a few sprinkled through the setups thread, but I don't know that those people would see a post here and reply.

From what I have seen people say, as well as getting various BBS / Generator boards over the years, although not any of the skate samples boards, but they are the same stock and come from the same presses, my answer is very similar to the last reply in the Questions thread, whole answer here:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=120185.msg4255462#msg4255462

Basically, BBS presses four at a time per press, so there are always going to be some a litle steeper (top) and some a little more mellow (bottom) and then those in between, so roughly 22 (tail) - 23 (nose) degrees through to 24 (tail) - 25 (nose) degrees for the most part.

Had some that were fairly mellow, others that were steep, a lot in between, so yes the luck of the draw, but generally they are very much on middle of the road type molds / presses and are used by a lot of companies / brands.

If you are into angles and measurements, check your existing boards and compare what they are / have been, or go into a shop and stand on almost any regular BBS board - anything not makred with a special mold or option anyway - so they should be comparable to that.

Overall the Generator shapes are good, basic and great all rounders, with those two short options now being very popular as they are the same in every other way, just shorter wheelbase and overall length, so if you like other BBS boards, they should be good for you.

Most recent order being this one, from the "Bought Recently" thread:

Just arrived

Solid. As good as any BBS board I have ridden. About as steep as the 'average' dlx board.

I had the 9.1 twin tail egg and spent the last couple of months on it. I have another in the pile.

Thinking about going down from the BBS 8.38 to some sort of 8.25, maybe one of these BBS. Cuz I'm not "tech" and think my not super tech ledge tricks will benefit.

Same here. I've been eyeing this Quasi

 8.125" x 31.75" WB 14.125"

Curious about something in between 8" and 8.25" with a shorter wheelbase and how the PS Stix wood feels.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm in board exploration mode now and my current setup is a BBS with around 6.5 tail, my old Skate1 deck from a long time ago that I was also riding again recently had a 6 so this falls right in between so it actually works out. I also just got a bigger board 8.3 wide with a 6.7 tail from Dwindle so between all this, I think I'll have a better idea on shapes and wood I want to go with in the future.
