That Quasi has a famously short tail. Dunno if you like that, but most people seem to hate it. IIRC its like 6.3 or some shit

This is correct. I hated it, tail was soooo short.

I thought there might have been a mistake but I just measured again and my old MiniLogo deck had a 6" tail. I guess I got used to it because I was having fun popping on it before it snapped and that was with razortail too so it was even shorter. I did go back and forth with different trucks on it and ended up using old Indy Stage 9s so if I get that Quasi, I have some AF1s that will fit well and help with that short tail.

Thinking about picking up Ace classics as I'm currently on AF1s. The "buttery" grinds on pool coping are what I'm looking for.

i like the look of the pf flyer center lo 1993
kinda like a converse but a bit wider

thinking thats my next shoe purchase

I just got black leather center hi’s for $14 at Burlington and they’re super comfy. I don’t think I’ll actually put them in a skate rotation. I’ve already skated a couple times in them and they work well but I don’t wanna burn them out.

8.5 was my go to for years but I’ve been skating 8.25 for a while now. Currently on an 8.38. I think I’m going to buy new trucks and move back up on my next board.

my next new completes going to be 8.5" (maybe resin-7 deadstocks or BBS decks)

truck choices now down to either ace hollow 55 or indy forged hollow 159...skating wise maybe 80% trannys/bowls & 20% frontside boardslides (that's all i could do now)..

which trucks would best fit above (wheel wise might getting 54mm)

I’d probably go with Ace but curious why your Indy choice would be wider? Why not just choose one width between the two brands?

i have used indy 149s with my 8.38 skateboard before (whole complete got stolen not too long ago, hence building a new one) and from the looks of its hanger alone looks perfect, i afraid pairing it with an 8.5 might looked smaller(?) in some ways. or maybe i got attracted with braden's setup

Oh, I get that and just posted in the Indy thread that I’d like to get some 159 hangers myself for the same reason. But what I’m confused about is why for the Ace, you want 55’s which are narrower and equivalent to Indy 149s. I’d think you would want Ace 60s, which are 8.75” wide like 159s unless you are talking about their classics sizing but I don’t think those come in hollow versions. I know it’s been said but how hard is it for these companies to just call them by a standard size name to avoid any confusion.

Well he certainly makes a compelling point for them but I would go with the 8.5" axle Indy 149 or ACE AF1 55. When my wheels stick out I always end up kicking the toeside back wheel when pushing at some point.

As I approach 30, I’ve decided that I want to get some consistency back in my flatground game. I’ve been riding Thunder 148s for the last few years and my recent set is axled and could be retired at any time. I was considering trying a set of either 8” Ventures or Lurpivs for the shorter axles and apparently those both wheelbite less (?). I could always just start a board quiver to keep with my faithful 148s for my ledge game and that way I don’t have to compromise - side tangent but I am also interested in the new Thunder Inverted Kingpins as someone who loves feeble grinds on curbs and ledges.. I think that I have a fear of wheelbite/bad awkward landings which affects my willingness to commit to flip tricks. The obvious solution would be to skate more but you guys know how it is with work, gf, friends, family other hobbies and a house that feels like something always needs fixing..Open to other truck suggestions as well but my early YouTubing tells me that Venture and Lurpiv offer something solid

Try IKP Royals, seriously (skip lurpivs...weak grind clearance)

Also, royal axles are just a few mm shorter than other brands, hanger width is the same tho; so you don't get a lot of overhang say, riding 149s on an 8.25...it's only a  couple of threads bit I notice it, especially on 159s and 8.5s.

If your goal is to improve your flat ground I'd stay on what you have since you're familiar with timing and upgrade bushings if wheelbite is an issue (sounds like maybe it is).

They're the cons 'dunk' stiff shoe to break in and the tow box is narrower than it looks. I liked them.

Thinking about trying some 480s....never skated a pair.

Same sizing as in Vans, at least for me.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Thanks for the input regarding the DC Ascend/ Kalis shoes.

on the topic of the cons AS-1. TTS/ Same as vans, Fastbreaks, 1010s and dunks for me. also same as NB 480 highs.

About the 480s: highs fit me better, are TTs and have a relatively padded sole, less boardfeel than on a dunk for example. great shoes though. bit of superglue and the do last a while!

More Generator 8.5 blanks/shop decks. Cause it’s getting harder to justify dropping $72 on pro decks.

I recently did the math.

Retail:
$72 x 10 =$720.00

Skate Samples:
$27 x 10 =$270.00
