I have a few of that shape, although not the specific one with wheel wells, but they are true to the 8.5 width, not like the blue eagle 8.5 x 31.75 with 14.25 wb, which is more like 8.3 and tapers significantly.
The bigger 8.5 x 32.18 with 14.38 wb is straight or at least doesn't taper a lot, stays nice and wide from the front bolts to the back, has slightly longer more pointy kicks and I think is a pretty good board to ride.
So there are (at least) two BBS 8.5 shapes, shorter and longer, shorter being also not true to dims? I am riding now the longer, a Polar. Apparently many DLX pro boards seem to be the shorter version - this is good info, as I'm loving the Polar 8.5 with Ace 60s I just set up. With "more like 8.3" there would be too much hotrod I think.
There are actually a few more than that, but going back to the Classic shapes, not all the Full, Full SE, Tru Fit, Short and how ever many other options, there are definitely the main ones that are being used for regular board shapes, maybe the last decade or longer.
Blue eagle (shorter 8.5) which is 8.5 (8.3) x 31.75 with 14.25 wb
DLX other / no name given 8.5 which is 8.5 x 32.18 with 14.38 wb
There is also an older one with 14.75 wb that has been used by a few other brands too.
To note, the Polar 8.5 is a different shape again, as I have one to compare. The Polar is 8.5 at the widest point but tapers down to almost 8.25 by the tail, this one also has a 14.375 wb (or 14.38 depending on who you ask) with the Polar having a fairly broad big round nose, then a fairly small / tapered but still longish looking tail.
