I'm getting older and although i do like to spend about 30 minutes a year on a board in the 8" range and rode a 8.6-8.75 for awhile, I find that once they are broken in they feel too small. I got a scram earth ski 9.5" troll deck with 169s and 54mm oj ditch witch. nice and low and after riding 149s and 159s for a decade a decided to size up and they feel great. Chico Brenes borrowed my board at les skatepark and rode it for awhile complementing the pop and he really liked the feel, his 8.75 was nice and light but still felt a lil skinny, 149s on the shaped 8.75 chocolate deck with 52mm spitfires. I got some 9"-9.25" popsicle and shaped decks ready to grip but I'm holding onto this scram deck as long as I can. wide decks seem to save my feet and yeah you should ride a board you have fun on, what big deck are you working with?

I am riding a polar 1991 shape that is 9.25 wide with indy 169s and 56mm formula 4s. I have been really enjoying it

Im skating the Polar Dane1 (9.75) shape with some ace 66's n 56mm orbs.
Been feeling too trendy lately, but its a fun one to skate for sure, still got all the tricks I want but haven't been learning too many new ones on flat. I'm more into skating the half-pipe at my local park n can't say its been holding me back at all. One big boy board I really want to skate again is a Santa Cruz Dressen Tribal, had one set up last year and it skated great, really hoping they re-issue it again soon!

I only went up for longer wb. I want to try one of those AH BA or Grosso shapes, but also a Cardiel football

Running a Gabriel Rodriguez 9.875 x 31.9
With hollow 169s and 53mm radials. Definitely feel the need to size up in wheel size.
I like the extra space and the more manageable wheelbase

I've been (back) on the 9 wides since the late 90s.  I've had some 10s sprinkled in there.  I hate big boards with tons of concave and kick tail.   I'm gonna design a egg/football shape that's 11 in the middle but tapers alot on both ends. (I think mabye the wide in the middle might be good for back 3s or big spins, it will certainly look funny) There's a custom deck company on the internet that does the concave and everything to your spec, so I'm gonna order a board from them.

15” Wheelbase x 9 3/16” x 32 1/4”
This setup's a beauty. Got it for 60 bucks, came with 86a Paradise cruiser wheels and some ace 44's. The trucks are a bit too narrow but they line up well enough that I don't feel too squirrelly. It's my first dedicated cruiser board, and I have a blast rolling through town on it. The wheels are soft but not too soft.

Woo the cardiel football is fun. I have one set up with loose thunder 149s and it's a blast.

my last 3 decks have been the 8.75 Anti hero white eagle,  I've really been wanting to try the orange 9 inch eagle but I'm afraid of change lol

Right now I'm on an 8.75" with 15.5" WB and ace 55's, but I recently switched over from this bad boy that I'm probably going to reset-up with my aces

Flip Lance Mountain Brigadier deck 9.5" x 32.78" with 15.25" wheelbase with wheel wells
Indy 169's
60 MM Bones SPF (not pictured obviously)
Bones Swiss bearings

It's super comfortable in big bowls and has a steep concave with square tail. Wheel wells were perfectly placed as you can see with my burn marks, never got thrown off due to wheel bite either. I'd highly recommend this deck if you can find it/

I haven't skated the same shape in the last few months. Lately, I've been riding a Pete's Pig 101/8 X 32.5 It's a great board, sort of a boat but a really fun time. Tailblocks like a dream. If you haven't heard of Pete's stuff check it out @petespigs. Before the Pig I was riding a Mark Gonzales X Jason Lee Prime Heritage board 9.5 X 31.5 I had an awesome time riding this board, it's based on a Gonz shape from the 90s and it's great for both street and transition. For Bowie fans, the graphic makes more a great wall board. Before the Prime board, I was riding a Scram Leaf board 10x30.375 Felt like Chris Cope riding this board, except for the fact that I can't Invert haha.

I think he skates a 9 inch vato with 149s and conical fulls. I could be wrong, I just noticed the same reoccurring setup in chronicles 3

Yo man.  What's up with the tails on the petespigs?  I hate steepness!  I hate very much concave too.  I looked on the site but like most skate sites there is no photos of the kick tail angle.

Great Setups everyone!!!!!!
I'm kinda interested in the overhang convo, I've heard more people doing underhang (bigger trucks than deck) I have some 149s' (8.50) indys on a 9.25 deck, the overhang is kinda nice, planned on putting cruiser wheels on it but I'm lazy, just left the 58mm spitfire classics, board feels really good and turns super well if you lean into that extra wood, but the skinner truck scares me on grinds sometimes if I think about it. flips well and kinda leans out of primos, ever smoked primos? that shit was fucked

Yeah his current set ups are usually what you said. I remember seeing images of him on the Brigadier deck and I thought he was running 169's on those.

my big 10 inch fuck-around board. 215s, oj 55s and risers.
It's a 14" wheelbase so it skates like a fat, sluggish popsicle.

Not a 9", but I did just buy one of my groomsmen a size 8.75 Krooked Board. Its a Dan Drehobl board too, so I'm stoked.

I’m on the Santa Cruz Primeval Winkowski at the moment, 10.34x30.54 on some 169s and 60mms and it’s been the best board I’ve ever had. There’s no way I could go back to a popsicle. Cruising is so much easier with this board. Wider turns and more stability makes it way more fun. I’ve never been good at flip tricks so I quit on those and have been on pools, bowls, slappies exclusively and I’ve never had more fun in all my 10 years of skating.  ;D

Originally the indy 169 had a 9.5 inch axle and the 159 had the 9 inch.  Now the 169s indy produces are only 9 inches wide.  215's are fuckin useless so if you want a wide truck the biggest is the 9 which is wack for a full sized 10 inch board.  ACE 66's are 9.5 but they bend.  Indy if you're out there make a real 169 thank you.
