Alright yea so

Indy 215 - 10”

Ace 66 - 9.35”

my deck- 9.89”

Which is better, trucks a little too wide or too small?  The gap would be bigger with Ace 66 but somehow hanging over sounds worse. what yall think?
I would go for the Ace 66

forgive me if i somehow missed it, but could someone help me with just how flat the flat as fuck decks really are?

Ace 55's would probably the go to for this board, correct? It tapers down to 8.75 at it's narrowest, near the rear bolts/tail area.

https://www.alienworkshop.com/collections/decks/products/visitor-1990-reissue-9-675

For sure

I just set up the Winkowski Santa Cruz shape with 55's because 66's we're too sloppy. The fit is near perfect.

10.34 at its widest. 9.125 over the front truck and 8.25 over the back truck.

Depends on the shape. I'm guessing its tapered. I've had 159s and 55s on shaped 80s 10" reissues with wider wheels. Its how we used to set them up at the time.

Here it is:
Winkowski 10.34
Ace 55's
58mm Spitfire Chargers

Not too keen on the deck's "matte" finish but it's all in good fun.

Can't remember for the life of me what bearing are in there - they're green and fast.

I got the 9" kader, plan on skating it

biggest popsicle i've skated yet was an 8.875", skated plenty of other shapes > 9"
[close]

I was interested in that Kader, but it's only 32" apparently, which seemed a little short considering the width. I've ridden 80s shapes that were around 30" long and 10" wide that were fun, but it's different when the front truck is all the way up at the edge of the nose (longer wheelbase) compared to a popsicle.
[close]

It has a 14.5” wheelbase if I’m not mistaken, like the Polar 9.0” popsicle. I tested a Polar 9.0” briefly last Saturday and it felt too fucking good. Been trying to talk myself out of buying one ever since.
[close]

Oh, I probably would have liked that Kader then. I saw that it was sold-out on one website, and I just kinda thought "good for him".

saw it listed at 14.5" everywhere but mine measured 14.25"

length is 31.9375" (1/16" shy of 32"). it's a little stubby but that mellow baker shape with the pointy tail is perfect

Alright riddle me this. This 80s reissue shaped deck I bought for a cruiser is technically a 10.5, but really it’s:

9.5” front truck width
8.75” back truck width

What trucks should I get???

I would go with trucks with axles matching the deck width at the back truck. I used to ride my Polar Dane1 (also about 8.75" at the back truck) with Indy 159's and it worked fine. With the 159's I could see the back wheels when I needed to.

8.75 to 9.5 is kinda a big gap upfront tho no? I don’t really like wheels hanging over tho so tempting

169s

Not a bad idea

Depends on your wheel choice.  If you are running a fat wheel (40mm+ like a Slimeball) then I would put 159s.  The wheel will be flush with the axle, or even past if it is a super wide wheel.

If you are using a more modern wheel width - in the low 30s - I would use 169s because the outside of the wheels will be about flush with the deck.

I have a Schmitt Joe Lopes with similar dimensions.  I ran 159s on it for a while and liked it when I was using my late 80s Mini Rats, but when I put modern wheels (56mm Spit F4 Classics) on it to ride it in bowls I found it too narrow and ended up with Ace 66s.    If you look at pictures from back in the 80s it was not uncommon to see a little wheel outside the deck on the back.

I’m talking about width, not diameter.  Spitfire lists all the widths on their site as does bones. Tactics lists it for most wheels as well.

Been kicking myself for a while now for not grabbing that board, the graphic and shape are so killer on that thing.

You need to give us the width.  - that thing could be a hand board.  Edit but if the front is 9.75 or wider go with ace 66 and if its 9.5 at the front get the 69s.

The 1991 is 8.75 over the rear trucks.  Both will work.  159 if you do a lot of flip tricks or want a more agile setup.  169 if you skate more big tranny and want something stable

I’m 6’ 2” and wear a size 13 shoe. I’ve skated everything from as small as 7.5 in the early 2000s, then stopped skating in 2016, and then coming back and board sizes had changed. So I got an 8.0 thinking that was wide AF but then I realized that most people skated boards 8.0 and up. After that I experimented with different sizes and worked my way up to 8.5 which I stuck with for maybe a year. In that time I also skated one 8.75 deck. But now I’m down to 8.38 and am trying to go back to 8.25 because I know I can skate smaller boards in the past despite my size/ shoe size. Size sometimes matters but these days I see dudes skating boards with practically their whole foot fits on the top of their deck.
The fact of this, plus my experience in the early 2000s, allows me to conclude that deck size is not always proportionate to your height/ weight and shoe size. Everybody is different, and as they said, to each their own.

This was the last deck I had, probably my favorite deck ever. I wear a size 12 shoe and this board is a perfect fit. Great for transition. I also like how the nose doesn’t start to taper before the front truck bolts.
