Jumped on the Heroin Mutant bandwagon. Board looks like fun. I got a few other boards to skate first but I’m excited for this one. Trying to decide 215 or 169... hmmmm

Whats good big bois, I need your feedback on 9" reg shape decks. As a tall fella with 11.5 shoes I've struggled to find a size I can feel solid on.

 I've been going back and forth between a 8.25/WB 14.5 & 8.5/WB 14.25.
The full 8.25/WB 14.5 feels good in transition wheelbase wise as I can stand a lil wider, but almost half my foot is off the board which makes me clench my toes around the edge. The tension is really tiring after a few warmup laps as I cant relax my toes.

8.5 & WB 14.25 felt good doing tricks on flat & street, feet can chill a little and not get too sore. The backside is im feeling very wobbly in the park as I cant stand as wide.

8.5"s feels like my prefered standard width as in the lowest i'll go in the future, but Im wondering if I can get even more space for my feet without it feeling like a 10" old school tank? The reason im thinking of skipping the 8.75" is first the 0,6cm difference feels (in my head) not to noticeable, and also Polars 8.75s was not 14.5WB. I wanna support the local/euro scene and sour & poetic doesnt do either 9"s or 14.5 WB.

Now to my question, you guys ride 9" regular shapes as your main setup and not just as a cruiser? How is it feeling?

Gonna put my wheels on my trusty ol 9" something cruiser to get a feel of the width. Pics coming up as a proof Ive been in the big boy club for the last decade.

I made the switch to big boards over the past few months, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back under 8.5”, unless it’s a tiny board for technical flat ground.

It’s actually pretty easy to get used to the 10” shaped boards as a bigger guy, but I find 8.75-9.25 popsicles to be the best for everyday.

As long as the wb stays the same or similar, the board doesn't feel much different

anyone skate one of these?
Still looking for a nice 9.0 - 9.25 inch board with short wheelbase... I should probably just buy another crail board or a baker

The 1992?
I’d pickup one in a heartbeat but the top ply on this season is red...

My other option is this:
https://mortartokyo.com/items/5f7a9f388f2ebd09dcf3c051
But I kinda want a fuller nose, I had a shaped passport a few years back at it was kinda perfect (square tail with big full nose). If I do go polar I’ll probably get a Shin side cut board ...

dang don’t even realize all the top play’s are the same color the shapes? Weird. The boserio graphic is nice too. Need to try the 1991 soon enough.

I made my own team lights but putting some old cast base plates on my 151 hollows, no risers.
This setup feels damn good, I grabbed a few of this heroin shape.

Is there much difference between this heroin shape and the 9” antihero eagle?

Wheelbase on the orange eagle is 15" and it is 33.25" long so I would imagine they'd skate really different
them cats are out getting mashed up to jungle, he's out mashing up jungle cats. it's just not gonna work.

Quasi came out with a 9.0 football shape deck awhile back (Jake Johnson board I think) and I just setup my last one. I try to stay away from having too many boards in the quiver now but anyone know of a similar option? I believe it’s 9.0x32x13.8? It’s such a fun shape.
[close]

Crail loveseat(9")/couch(9.25" shapes. 13.8" WB, 32" overall. More squared tail but otherwise pretty spot on. Loved my loveseat.

Damn. Knew that quasi was probably dope.

What trucks you use on the love seat? I think Simon uses 159s, a local king uses 5.8s....those boards look great for a board with some decent sized wheels

Late on the reply here but thanks! I forgot girl made that shape. I have 5.8 titanium's setup on it right now but wish I had bigger.

Very different. Slightly shorter tail, over 1/2” shorter wb. This board feels way more nimble and the mold feels flatter. Nose is 7 3/8
And tail is 6 7/8, also more full nose and tail.

Heroin 9 x 32.75 14.3 wb

Not too short wheelbase for a 9 x 32.75 - are the nose and or tail huge or something just doesn't add up with dimensions?

Eg my DLX FULL 8.5 x 32.6 with 14.6 wheelbase has long kicks, so .5 length and .2 wheelbase and you have .7 total longer kicks.

I know it is not that much really, but I definitely see where you are going with the size.

The Baker Kader is 9 x 32 with 14.5 wb and that thing has a minimal tail, so something in between would be more what you would want?

*** I see your other reply above while I was typing. I skate mainly transition, so having a longer tail is a must for me.

I measure my boards flat, not tip to tip without the tape touching. That way it’s 32.3.

So sick. I love the 9.25 purple one. I really want to try that one too.

The purple one feels so much easier and less tiring than the 9”x15” wb boards. I bet that white one is super easy going. I still like the 35th Ave 9” shop deck the best for skatepark and cruising SF. These heroin pops are snappy tho.

I was nervous to get a loveseat because of the wheelbase, but my wife got me one and had someone paint my dog on my grip tape.

Reallllly enjoying it.

Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

Sick! I fuckin love the football shape, as I skated a few cliche' made back in 2017 ( they were 8.25 though ). Skated a few of the nawst shape too. Just set up some ventures on a 14.25 wheelbase board and the turning isnt ideal. With that though I just bought one of these love seat shapes and i'm very stoked to try it on these ventures.

update on the dane 1

going to confidently learn flip tricks on this shape (yes it flips that good) and translate them to my 8.5/31.75-.9/14.25 popsicle. seems pretty failproof to me.

im thinking skate fast, flick and scoop with purpose, get legs out of the way, land each time on the dane. have to be more precise and dainty with the popsicle but it should feel more stable with the added wb and length.

gonz said something along the lines of it being easier going from a big board to a popsicle and i always believed that. now that i found my shape, the popsicle is going away for some months. should i swap out my swiss 6 to keep them warm and running?
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

As long as they are not wet, getting wet or have things able to get into them, they will last indefinitely in storage, even if they are just sitting on a shelf or against a wall in a garage.  I have old complete boards in cardboard deck boxes when they are in storage, more so for the insulation of the wood than anything else cause it gets hot where I am, but some sets of wheels that I have left bearings in still work fine after years of being forgotten.
