TGM still has the Anti Hero Beach Bum deck.. am tempted to get it..

They are a rad board, but they are also so very short, both wheelbase and overall length.  I just copied my response to another Slap reader, some posted below, as I feel like it is relevant.

The best thing with all these Antihero shaped decks is there are pretty much all options covered.  As much as some people don't mess with the board at all, I know lots of people have redrilled the wheelbase down on some of the bigger boards, with some even reshaping them down as well.

I say that because the Beach Bum is a fairly short board overall, 9.55 x 30.5 with 14.2 wheelbase, so depending on what you are used to or what you want, it can be too short for some, myself included, so the Blue Meanie at 8.75 x 32.55 with 14.75 wb or even the Green Giant at 9.56 x 33 with 15.25 wb (drilled down to 14.75 from the nose end) worked much better for what I wanted.

If you are used to a longer wheelbase on another bigger board, it might make it harder to go down to the Beach Bum, but you can always drill down an old board first, just to see what it would be like with a half inch shorter wheelbase.

Apart from that the shape, the wood and everything else about it was awesome - no issue at all to skate, but with the short wheelbase, it turned way too quickly for what I was used to and my decker / rock tricks were funny as there was minimal contact to the middle of the board, compared to my other longer AH and other boards.

If you want something a little more zippy but still super wide, then this might be the winner, best paired with 169 Indy, more so than Ace 66, but they also work - tried both on all these boards.

Indy 159s are a better truck for 8.6 to 8.75 size boards, but you could still run them on the Beach Bum easily enough if you don't mind them sitting in a fair way.

Links below to a few boards, all with dimensions (which seem fairly accurate) so it is easier to compare what you have to all these others.

Surprised ace 55 classics work that well on a 9.8, maybe I could rock one with my film 6.0s?

Anyone ever skate one of those blind Rudy Johnson reissues in 9.75?

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

These 9" popsicle shaped orange eagles are by far my favorite. Got a second one once this is done and will definitely grab a few more.

53mm wheels (OJ winkowski's) and Ace af1 66s.

The stock bushings were a little too soft, so I replace the stock top bushing with a bones hard bottom bushing. Let's me have the nut tightened just to the top of the kingpin and still have the medium/loose turning.

With Indys I always had to ride them a bit looser than I wanted to get the turn I wanted. Aces definitely turn sharper and I can have them a bit tighter while still turning sharp. Good carve and pinch, way less wheel bite. Definitely sticking with this setup for a while.
[close]

I'm thinking of getting one of these  for the park/transition (or the GT 9" Totem).. Reckon Indy 159's would be too narrow? Switch to 169? Switch to Ace?

Looks like you've had no shortage of wheel bite!

Another rad setup!

From a couple of pages back, another Orange Eagle with 169s and 58mm classics, which sit just ever so slightly outside the deck when I look down, so having 159s would not be too bad, especially if you had two or three washers on the inside, or had wider than average wheels, or just prefer not to see your wheels as much.

They are definitely longer by a mile, with a 15" wheelbase, so compared to the Gonz, it is going to turn a lot more slowly, but you can always drill it down if you need to, or enjoy how big it is.

I feel like the taper on most of those boards, including the 9.81 Gonz and others like the 9.875 Jock Helmet Johnson means that a truck will either sit a fair way outside if paired with the total width of the deck, or sit fairly well if you are going more for the width over the back truck area, as per link below (same shape, maybe different graphic for the newer ones).

Edit:  I forgot to add the board was very flat overall and significantly thicker, so not the usual shape and feel of concave at all like other reissues that are on Dwindle wood, such as New Deal boards.

It might be different now, but all the Blind reissues I have had or seen have been like that - very flat and thick wood.  One I did skate for a minute just wasn't fun to me, but I know other people have skated them and enjoyed them a lot.

I had 159s on mine with OG classic wheels. Period correct. Worked great.

One of my shop kids has been riding 58’s and his board looks cool with the wider cuts and he rips on them, I literally had no problem adjusting. I expected to struggle, but this shape has a longer tail so maybe that helps.

Really liking this shape, already skated the Craig Questions 9.5 version of this but the 9 seems perfect for me. Can't wait until the weather gets better so I can really take it for a spin, or at least the indoor parks open up again. Zane was my favorite pro so I'm definitely beating this one up until it's dust.

@disclosed unrelated, but I tried PM'ing you today but my messages won't send. I got a PM from a mod to which I could reply but I cant seem to send you anything.

Here are my big board setups:

Chocolate Raven Tershy OG Chunk 9.25 x 32, 13.875 WB (Crailtap ‘Couch’ shape)
Indy 169
Spitfire Conical Full 99a 54mm

I built this one recently, really fun to ride with the short wheelbase. It also pops quite easily despite the weight.
I wanted to try this board in parks and also learn slappies  on it some time

Anti Hero Beach Bum 9.55 x 30.5, 14.2 WB
Bear Polar 130mm
Fatty Hawgs 63mm 78a

My dedicated cruiser setup; really smooth and surfy, handles rough ground really well and quite suited for longer distances as well :) I still had the trucks and wheels from an old Landyachtz board, but I wanted to ride something wider.

love how dumb the gimmick of an uncut board is and the fact that it's selling out everywhere instantly
