IMO 9" feels modern and 10" feels oldschool.

I took the big wheels off last night and swithced to some small (52 mm classic full i think)

now I can just skate it without thinking about it, and I seem to never wheelbite. This works a lot better.

I just put together this phawt shape. Coming from a popsicle with 14.25 and loveseat shape with 13.875 wheelbase I have to commit, this thing feels huge... let's hope I am going to like it...

Oh yeah ace classic 55

Ok

ace classic 55s have some fantastic qualities, imo. i actually like them quite a bit on smaller boards. the ‘8.5’ proto shape springs to mind.
anyways, the phawt might change your mind on what is needed for board dimensions. it’s a trip.

Not too turn this into an Ace 55 classic love fest, but it really is a versatile and comfortable truck.

Nice. I have one of these set up with AF1 77's and the new 57mm 97a Formula 4's. Really enjoy it the big kicks, shape and wheelbase is perfect. It's almost done now. I hope they release them again and the BBS versions make it to NZ!

last month when i was in Japan i got 9.75 Blast Skates/Golden Age collab deck (Ben Broyd shape).
it's a fun board. but the nose really is too short and pointy for my comfort. noseslides are super hard on it for me. crooks work completely fine, but feel scarier to me. still waiting for a bigger Blast board that has a full nose. they havnt done one since they switched their manufacturing.
can't commit to Blast fully as long as they dont have real noses.

rail is bent cause it got ripped out and i had to re-screw half of it on the spot.
ignore the griptape art, didnt have scissors. top pic is to show off the shape better.

Blast Skates 9.75
Ace classic 55
52mm 101a Spitfire conicals
1/8th risers
bones rails (shortened to 13.5")

Set up a baby beemer with the 9+ (66?) Ace classics and some 60mm speedlab bullet clones. Weird concave and soooooper long wb that shouldn’t be as fun as it is, but I really stick to modest transition and curbs.  The more I accept that I’m a parody of myself, the more fun I have.

Currently skating the Anti-hero horse pill I bought at a local shop on a whim.  So fun.  Actually easier to skate than the shaped Alien board I've been skating recently at a much more "normal" width.

Great shape yeah! What have you got in your undercarriage?

Don’t make me look at popsicles in the sticky’s somebody do something

Here is a picture of my current sleds.
I’m all in on these old school shapes. I like that they ride great on smaller trucks, and they’re both pretty short at 31,5 and 30,54.
I went with 166 on the Deko Boko,
DIY dyed 55mm OJ Elites hardline.

The Winkowski got 151s with 56mm OJ Mini combo.

Had to redo the grip on the nose of the creature, because it didn’t get on there properly. Only problem is that it isn’t MOB, but shop grip and I’m not liking it.

On my Winkowski too today. Man it's hard to noseslide. Even to nose stall. Gotta be right on the edge. Otherwise got on with it very well.

It has Tensor Mag Light ATG 149 trucks with Bones medium bushings, OJ Hensley 56mm 101a wheels, Bones Swiss bearings, Pig rails, MOB grip, can't remember the hardware.

Killer graphic on this one too :-)
I only got this second Winkowski, because I were curious about the shape and concave, and how I rides. There aren’t a lot of the big creature shapes and I’m looking for a board I can get consistently.

Always been curious about the Mags, but apprehensive because people report them bending.

I found this “My colorway” Winkowski board, that I had my kids decorate. I helped a little bit.

Lots of fun, but I had to get the other one since this was going on the wall. Now that I finally have a place to hang shit up, that I like.

Yea Creature makes a lot of cool one off boards but when they're gone they're gone..

The Mag Lights are a nice match for the bigger board because they're light. Or that was the logic between the pairing anyway. Turn very well with the Bones bushings (didn't like the stocks). Grind longer but make less sound. If they bend they bend, not too worried.

as the board suggests thats Golden Age. as a big board rider they just have it all. Heroin, Blast, Scram, Black Label, even stuff like Lovenskate and Bellyful.
Daisuke is also just such a rad guy. skated with him before.

didnt visit this year, but i do also like the Instant in Kichijoji. met Tajima Raido there, one of my favorite skaters.

What size trucks should i go for a Scram 10" pop in your opinion? Ill pair it with some 60mm conical full 97a. Right now i got some 55 classics on a 9" AH and i would like this board/truck ratio ideally.

Thanks!  8)

To be fair, I have seen a lot of people thinking their Ace trucks were not as wide as they are stated in the catalog and spec sheets, mainly because Ace tend to have the right listed axle length, but the hanger itself is often a little shorter which leaves the truck feeling not quite as wide, or the axle seemingly longer, or people have to put in a few more washers just to get their wheels to the end of the axles.

Anyone running one washer on the inside will usually find that their trucks could easily seem like a size down, eg the Classic 55 which is said to be 9.0 even, but fits quite well on boards that are not 9" wide, or the wheels sit in a fair bit on a 9" deck.  One guy I know has those same trucks on 8.75" boards and doesn't say they stick out at all, even though it looks like it does to me.

I even have a set of Classic 66s (9.38) on a 9.25 board and the wheels don't stick out at all, but I do wonder how far past that starts to get a bit weird / unmanageable for some people, especially in the 10" wide boards and trucks, but I guess a lot more are setting up boards of that and even wider sizes now, so it is not that silly sounding.

Yeah exactly,
cause often the 10" pop set with 10" trucks feel like the trucks are poking out. Imo the ones like the horse pill post earlier with the 66s looks like it fits better than some hypothetical 80 af1

I just want to say I’m sure horse pill is great with 9-9.5” trucks but it really is perfect for 10” trucks. I think a lot of “big” boards taper so much that you get hot rodding on at least one of the trucks, but horse pill has no taper. I’ve got it set up with some 53 conical fulls and it’s totally perfect, didn’t work for me with narrower trucks

I’ve got it set up with some 53 conical fulls and it’s totally perfect, didn’t work for me with narrower trucks

oh perfect, thank you a lot

I’ve been riding a 9.5” Heroin popsicle and loving it.

I wish a few more brands offered that size.
