Just when I was kinda forgetting Toy still exists, they gotta put something like this out and make me believe all over again.

I’ll say this, there is no energy leak in Leabres’ skating.

Loved the whole thing, made my night.

At least his trick selection is different and not the standard contest fare

I don't like it when the roll away from a trick is too short. It always feels like the trick is incomplete. There were a few in Gabbers part. Nothing wrong with Gabbers though. It's all me. It's like a weak orgasm.

I felt like an asshole thinking that about his ender. He was upright for half a second before he kicked his board and slid on his ass

The short landing makes it more impressive. You want to him smash through the glass like hulk? I guess that would be better actually

That being said @crescentfresh would've loved to see you post up when I asked who else was going on Cole's and associates' instagram to call him out for being a violent domestic abuser. Or to shut down the multiple posters in that thread who were questioning Christine's testimony, downplaying it or critiquing her course of action but so far I ain't seen you in that thread at all. If you're actually about combating misogyny, not just high-horsing on other posters, then it sure feels like you're running screaming at mosquitoes while there's elephants in the room.

A swarm of mosquitos can make life pretty unbearable. But if this is the virtue you need me to signal to calm your whataboutism: fuck chris cole and his dengue carrying ass. Anyway, Georgia's part was sick, can't wait to see what else is in store from her.

EVENTS/CLASSIFIEDS / 8-10 years worth of Thrashers
« Last post by Mr. Pickles on Today at 09:23:09 AM »
I can’t promise that every issue is there, but I’m giving away a ton of Thrasher mags from the last 10 years or so. Moving the second week of June and I’d rather not pack these or toss them. Hit me up, I’m in the 510/east bay.

Kinda wild to have almost 5k post on a skateboard forum and not know a pivotal figure in the current tsunami of skatepark building.

But I’m from the PNW where Monk and Red are basically held as apostles from the skate gods.

And since we’re talking about it… obligatory Lovetters plug

Honestly, not that bad of an outcome.

1. Family owned company (even ridiculously wealthy) have more leeway for higher operating standards because they aren't beholden to "money line go up" anyone-owns-it public co's and it's their "family legacy" so they don't want shitty behavior attached to their name.

2. Not Private Equity that just squeezes the juice to eke out a 30% return in 2 years.

3. They run YES snowboards which is actually a decently respected snowboard brand. Think Burton / Gravis except hoping they don't go the way of Gravis lol

4. The brothers can actually do a kickflip

Seeing as they are from snowsports, their legacy is actually not the best. Nidecker as a snowboard brand vanished 20 years ago. They have one of the bigger factories iirc but their brand work was a failure. YES is going the same route, although the founders are legends and the current team is stacked. But the whole identity, the style, it's just not good. They should be the Girl of snowboarding but they're more like Flip.

Confused by your Nidecker comment. They absolutely still make boards. This group also owns Jones snowboards which are very popular in the snowboard community. Yes has merged with Lobster so no clue what that is going to look like.
Like others I have no idea what this means for skate shoes but Nidecker is a pretty successful ownership group.

I have not seen a Nidecker board in the wild or an ad from them in at least 15 years. Merging YES and Lobster is such a misguided move and shows their lack of understanding of the current market. While both brands rank probably equally in terms of market share, they sit on opposite sides of the spectrum. Only YES boards I see are on 30+ weekend warriors who film bs 3s on the baby jump for the gram. And right next to that, on the ride-on Box, 13 year old wannabe-Fridges are doing Michael Jacksons for TikTok. Hyperbole alert obviously

Your personal anecdotes don’t add up to the fact that they still sell boards. That stated being a Euro I would have thought you have seen more.I learned on a Yes Basic myself.  Not on the brand anymore but Angry Snowboarder still gives lots of the Yes line high marks.  Pretty sure one of the dudes who regularly competes in Natural Selection (Dustin Craven maybe?) rides them.

Weekend warriors are the bread and butter of the industry by the way.  Because they have jobs and spend. Plus your criticism is now on style but again has nothing to do with the fact that the Nidecker brands make money.  Whether you view them as cool or not is irrelevant.

Edit: I do agree that the Yes/Lobster merge seems awkward but my contrarian anecdote to yours would be I never see Lobster boards on my local.

I kinda like Cordano.

As in it’s impressive to watch someone who feels like an athlete first, skater second.

I wouldn’t like all of skating to be that way, but a handful here or there is interesting.
