I take back my comment about “bussin” being the worst. Dank is a felony. Usually committed by people who have multicolor shoelaces and wear a lanyard from a music festival
[close]

I think dank is pretty funny when used in a tongue-in-cheek fashion and can be acceptable when used sarcastically or to make fun of something, sincere usage of dank in any context outside of describing marijuana is pretty heinous though but I feel like I rarely hear it used that way.

Along the same lines, I hate when people say that something "slaps" when not referring to a song. Your sandwich does not slap, Mac Dre slaps! Damn kids, get off my lawn!

Idk this website kinda slap tbh

I’m sorry

I remember when this ad first came out and being blown away at how much money they must have spent on it... all for 32k views.

Biebel transformation is wild
[close]

It is absolutely crazy. And this is my only related moment to admit that I had a very slow day in work today and read all 49 pages of the Fuck Biebel thread. Before and during lunch. There are some fucking hilarious photos in there. Like the one where he’s hanging Stefan over a pier. Someone said he looks like he smothers himself in Merlot before tanning and I goddam choked on my cig.

Also that vid advert was cool - but would have been much cooler had they actually done the bullet time focus on the actual shoes mid- trick and not some weird low rendering of the shoe. Surely there was a way to impose an actual scanned image of the shoe in.
[close]

Crazy how big the outrage was about that Beibel assault video in 2020 but only 2 weeks ago Jeron was on the bunt downplaying it saying beibel was a victim of circumstance and only laughed at the homeless guy, or whatever bullshit he said. Idk if the bunt guys somehow don’t know what happened or just didn’t want to press Jeron during his interview but that shit was so wack.

Imagine you have the opportunity to interview a legit legend of the game that you love, and a touchy subject comes up that you don't really know how to handle, and a subject where neither party is really involved in... you're not going to press someone about their response or viewpoint. you're not going to call someone out like Jeron - "WELL WHAT THE FUCK MAN HOW CAN YOU STICK UP FOR HIM THIS HAPPENED???" Jeron has had a personal relationship with the man for 20 years. them "calling him out" or "pressing him" is completely unrealistic and not the role that either of them play. the approach that Dono and Cepah took during the interview is called is called being a professional.

its far too easy to say something like, "they should have said this," or, "how could they not call him out on that," but come on man, they're lucky enough to even be talking to this person in the first place.
[close]

I was saying what Jeron said was wack. They could have corrected him but that would have derailed the whole show and as far as I know they’re actually pretty big beibel fans even to this day

Who cares what he said about it?

Everybody knows what happened.

Post a link about the sale.
[close]

Couldn’t find anything on the googles but this popped up.

https://shop-eat-surf.com/2024/04/etnies-welcomes-sal-barbier-as-brands-creative-director/

If Sal is behind the designs Etnies may have a shot at a pretty substantial comeback. Would love to see that

Started a separate thread for the Sole Tech sale but just wanted to reply to this to say the headline is misleading. Even in the article it states that Sal will be behind an SLB line within Etnies, he's not actually the Creative Director of Etnies.

USELESS WOODEN TOY BANTER / Sole Tech Sells To The Nidecker Group
« Last post by Watson on Today at 01:37:34 PM »
This is being discussed in a couple separate SoleTech related threads, figured it could probably use it's own thread.

https://shop-eat-surf.com/2024/05/sole-tech-owner-to-sell-etnies-es-emerica-and-thirtytwo-to-nidecker-group/

The gist of it: Pierre Senizergues, sole owner of Etnies, eS, Emerica, and 32 has sold the brands to a family owned group that owns a bunch of snowboard brands. SoleTech will cease to exist and the Nidecker Group will take over the brands. Pierre will remain as CEO of the four brands.

Just curious how Bones decided that that’s in fact a front blunt and not a back tail
[close]

It feels more blunt than tail to me. The wheels being power-slid across a surface of sorts like a blunt on a ledge/curb.

Yeah looks and feels more like a front blunt, nose of the board is faced upwards. I think of a back tail more on the edge of an on stacked and a front blunt would sit above it.

^^ I don't fully understand the issue. Can you explain this a bit more?

Max Palmer has been skating this spot for many years. I don’t think he’s the first to skate it but he was probably the first to do this trick down it, along with many other tricks. Bones caption is making this trick sound like an NBD and that it was only made possible by their special formula wheel. Max skates for Spitfire and has a pro wheel with them. Not sure what wheels he was skating when he did the trick but I’m assuming they were Spits and not Bones X formula.

I feel you can't brute force 360 flips during the learning phase, without the right technique it takes too much effort and you'll face diminishing returns beyond 10 tries.
[close]

Yes, this is 100% correct and very wise to recognize. Overdoing it doesn't work, it will just wear you out all the while really making sure you firmly develop all kinds of parasitic habits. When your mistake becomes part of your muscle memory is when things really suck.

My analysis of the video is funny because it looks like the bail of someone who already can do the trick and just barely misses a random one. There is literally nothing you're doing wrong in it so I believe your barrier is completely mental, what I'm seeing you do here is you're about to catch the trick but then you deny it to yourself like it's supposed to be hard and so you're not supposed to win just yet. And so you have the reflex of opening your shoulders at the very last moment for the catch and you refuse it, but you don't look out of control at all. It sounds silly but I firmly believe this subsconscious self-imposed set of standards thing is something most skaters do until they realize and break out of it, it's a very personal tie to what one thinks they should or shouldn't be able to accomplish at large and the fear of disrupting that order. Now that's going in too deep for online tips on 360 flips but try pretending to yourself that you normally can do the trick as easily as a pop shove-it and are just trying to fix it because for some obscure reason it's not working that day. That's how I first learned switch flips, by pretending to myself I was fixing my normal kickflips just I was a regular footed skater that day.

Another general visualization tip, make sure the goal you're setting for yourself doesn't stop at just catching the trick, but feeling the roll away from it. Sometimes the current step of the learning process is an obstacle that takes so much focus it starts looking like the whole process and so you lose sight of your full ambition, micromanage things, and fall down a mental spiral that just takes you further away from it (that also explains 'madness' in skateboarding). In the case of your 360 flips that means make sure you visualize rolling away from your trick before you even pop it and then just kind of stomp where it will land anyway because you have the power of deciding that. If you don't do that then it's likely your brain will get stuck on 'well I personally think just the flip is good enough'.

tl;dr accept it for yourself that you can do the trick, and roll away like the champ you were all along.

Love this post. This whole thread has been inspiring. I'm 51 and my last good tre flip was a couple years ago. I've slowly let that one slip away but now I'm hyped to get one today.
