returned to MA from a week with the lady traveling from Frisco to Humboldt- the return isn't something to be stoked on but missing the epic shitty weather that hit Crescent City to SF is a good thing. Riding a bus down 101 while a Tsunami rages not far over would've been kind of wild though.
California, again just SF thru Humboldt, is the most interesting place that i've yet to experience. Such a wide spread transient community, there are the straight hippy/gutter punks, but also activists working in the Redwoods to prevent the slaughter of trees that were chilling, you know, before Columbus or even the Vikings came thru.
It was sick to see people act on their intentions thru non-violent protest (which could be bike locking your neck to a pole in the CalTrans office...) to protect a way of life- road widening will destroy the trees, but it will also allow trucks with cargo containers to travel 101, which would inevitably allow WalMart, strip malls, and every other McCorp that has yet to change the pace of living up there.
And, it's a wicked nice day to be back in MA, about 50 degrees! perfect for a ride on the bike since i still can't skate, head to bank to cash some retroactive checks that were in the mail when i got home, and get try to get some ink!
oh yeah, last night my lady got robbed $158 from the bar she serves at- she quit her shitty job and i think this has pushed her enough to agree that it's time to move west
