Yeah looking at the more popular egg shapes in the shop I was put off by the tiny tail! This shape looks more proportional, and it feels totally at home under my feet. I might be wrong but it seems very similar to the Cardiel egg?
[close]

Ha yeah, I wasn't going to say it, but the Huffer shape - AH Cardiel board - is a good one and maybe the only other one I have felt comfortable on, with the size, width and length of the tail.

I haven't seen the Black Label one when it came out but others had it and said it was good too.
[close]
The thing that stood out to me about the Huffer was that it was kind of an upside down egg. Most of the egg shapes you see are the aforementioned pinner tail and then the round nose. The Huffer doesn't feel exactly inverted but there's more going on in the tail than usual and then the nose is kinda pointy, which is why I think it flips so well.

Re Huffer - for sure!!!

* Missed this post earlier, but just saw it again now.

9.0 Polar Hjalte

I think that is the usual 9.0 shape and they just rotate riders names on it, as per other brands like DLX too - each month someone else gets their name on this size, or that size, etc.

https://polarskateco.com/search?q=9.0

Even some others with wheel wells too if that is your thing, otherwise just the normal 9.0 in half a dozen graphics, or at least that is what I had seen in the history anyway.

9.0" X 32.5"
NOSE: 7.0"
WHEEL BASE: 14.5"
TAIL: 6.8"

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Good job on those WWII surplus Aces Dad!

Haha thanks! Pulled those hangers out of retirement after maybe 5 years…

Might buy the huffer next time, see if it feels any different

.

I posted in the DLX shapes thread, but this might be of interest here too:

I see all the new ones are currently in Tactics, so probably elsewhere as well.

A few old shapes back, like the shorter 8.28 board, but the main interest is the new 10" twin shape, or at least they call it twin but Tactics has it as slightly different kicks, but overall it is a monster, big wide long etc.  You can work out for yourself if you don't agree - no worries there.

It's a standard bbs 9x33 w/15wb. I modified this one by chopping a little nose and tail off and shortening wb to 14.25. brand is out of Portland. I started it back in 2008, then shut it down in 2013. One of the kids I used to sponsor brought it back and is running it now. Some original graphics and a lot of new ones. He sends me care packages from time to time, bless his heart.

I'm a long time lurker, but I've been enthralled by this thread for a good few months. I've been contemplating on getting a big shape setup for a good while and when I got injured before the new year I thought I'd bite the bullet. Initially I was going for an Opera deck but I sourced the SC Knox locally so ended up with that.

Santa Cruz Knox Punk 9.89"x31.75"
Ace Af-1 Hollow 60
OJ Elite 54 95A
Ace Risers
Reds
Indy Hardware
I don't know if I'll stick with the Oj's. I was initially going for 97A Classics but got these for practically nothing second hand. Wider wheels would also help with tiny magic carpet that the setup now has but I'll ride it and see how it feels first.

I'll have to end by saying thanks for all the great info on here. It has been a huge help. I've had to study a lot lately when sizing up on setups.

The rails are bent for that yeah but also because when I skate transition I like my boardslides to go faster when they’re completely lapped over if that makes any sense

No top washer at all

At first I was opposed to the idea but it works and doesn’t effect the geo at all

How do you like the Thunder 94 duro bushings? Do they get harder after some time?

Here you go, next to my crusty spot setup too, same deck but with venture and 97a big spits. I’m only a few sessions in on the new one, haven’t been able to skate as much as I’d like lately. I was actually having a bit of bushing madness the other day because these felt too soft. Too many threads when I tightened my back track cause the nut was so ground down from smiths. Replaced them and the washers which were really dented in, which seemed to help a bit. If anything I think they get looser? Was thinking about trying the 97 red ones, but turquoise works so well with this deck It is super hot where I live atm though. When I was living in Germany the thunder bushings definitely froze though, they seem super temperature sensitive.
