I read this entire thread a couple weeks ago and ordered myself a pair of 149s. I've skated them three times now and I like them a lot. Pretty much what everyone else has said is 100% true. They feel like a perfect mix of Indy and Thunder. They turn better than Thunders, but not as much as Indy. They're more stable, pop better, and have better pinch than Indy, but not as good as Thunder. I'm much more comfortable skating ledges with these than Indy's, and they skate transition just as well and Indy's too. The 52mm height also feels better locking into coping on pivots, stand up grinds, and smiths. I'm on 54mm conical wheels and the wheelbite isn't too bad either. They really are the ideal all-around truck.
The only thing I don't agree with what others said is the comparison to Ventures. I don't think they feel like Ventures at all.
These are pretty close to curing my madness, but I prefer to skate ledges with 144s and transition with 149s. So I'm doomed to being stuck with multiple set ups. That said, I have a pair of barely skated Thunder 148s if any wants to trade for some Royal 144s. DM me if you want some photos or are interested.
