The bushings just try to resist the moment imparted on them.  A 169 had a longer moment arm than a 159 and therefor the same bushing will feel softer in the larger truck.  Wider deck, bigger wheels and risers will have similar effects.

jay_nev it definitely feels tighter than my usual setups, but I did a smaller than average wheel for me and wider trucks so it feels pretty stable, also the Danes long tail makes the pop feel light and snappy... not too much leverage required to get tricks

jtrpma thanks!

Yeah it’s ace 66 perfect fit look

That grip job is too crazy for me but super sick nonetheless  thom

Thank you!

Feel like Dane himself rides ace 55 on the dane1 I remember reading? I was worried the 169s would overhang but yeah with your smaller wheels (narrow?) it’s not bad at all. Couldn’t get an exact measurement over the rear bolts but it’s like 8 7/8” if I remember correct

Just got the T-Funk Baker rode the Corey Kennedy before with the 13.87 WB!

9.25X32
WB 14
Venture 6.1
AA Formula Four 55mm
[close]
how is that deck combo with 6.1s? i still have them to eventually try them with decks like that
[close]

They're working really well, I like ventures with a short wheel base. I had the Girl couch shape before this with Indy's and it seemed too short and squirrely. This WB is 14" so with the Ventures it's perfect almost feels like a 14.25 WB if that makes sense. I like the 6.1's quite a bit once you mess with the bushings a little.
[close]
definitely want to try the ventures with a 14 wb on a wide board. sadly thats the only deck i know with those dims right now and i see it for $60 everywhere
[close]
Yeah short wb boards that are wide are super hard to find of course they're the boards I like the most, I spent a good hour at the shop diggin for this one. The new Simon board has that 13.87 wb works good with 6.1's!
[close]
im all legs so 14 is pushing it for me. anything below that and my knees are knockin

I'm the opposite my legs are hella short so it's perfect for me anything over 14.5 feels like a boat.

For short wb eggs you could try Deathwish 9.1, Madness 9.6, and FUBK Guy or Rudy. And Crail..

that JJ quasi is a good choice too, still up on tactics

Picked up some 66s and got the Lance set up.
First impressions after 2 sessions. 1 at the park. 1 at a curb spot.
15" wheelbase is huge. It's insane what a difference half an inch makes. In the pool at the park, I like it. But on the street course and in the streets, it feels so slow and heavy. Ollies are shitty and take a lot of effort. Managed a couple kickflips. But forget about tre's. Shinners with this beast hurt more than usual.
On my warpig I can do pretty much all the same flat ground tricks as on my 8.3 popsicle.
I think the pig will still be my preferred fatty.
First time on some Aces. I now understand what it means when people say they are turnier than Indy.
Pay no attention to that blue board on the end. It wants to be included; but is only 8.9.  ;D

a bit of a necrobump....but, those Lance Mountain decks just showed up in australia and i want to get one...but do i need new trucks? the biggest trucks i have are 159's...does that deck taper at the truck enough for 159's or do i have to get 169's? thoughts?

I think 159 could work fine.

Maybe wide wheels on there, could also suit it well.  And you can throw in a second washer on the inside of the wheels.
Bumps them to 8.8, not much but does a bit

From the pic it looks like 169's would fit nicely. Those are Ace 66's and 9" wide?
Or if you've got some wider wheels you could probably sneak 159's without it looking weird. Skinny wheels look odd on that shape too.
You might wanna move quickly on those Lance decks, they didn't last long here in the States, but it was also Xmas season..

I feel like an asshole for thinking this but that 9" pop looks almost like the non-pointy egg I've been wishing for. If the rails aren't straight between the trucks it might have the perfect amount of blobbiness. I'm such a dork..
The Snakebite and Roskopp graphics are almost bearable but I'm already thinking spray paint em.
https://santacruzskateboards.com

From the 6'+ thread
Fwiw, there's also a new Primitive 8.6 that might have 14" wb
And there's a SC 8.6" with similar dimensions to the 8.8"

8.75" - 14.25" wb
Alien/Habitat 32.25" - are these always BBS wood?
Business and Co 32" or 32.32"? might be 14.5" wb?
Heroin Childress 32"
Fixer 32.625" - Clutch wood?
Baker mega? Not sure on the wb
Primitive? New size for them, haven't seen wb info yet

8.88"
Toy Machine 32.25", 7.25" n, 7" t, 14.25" wb
https://shop.tumyeto.com/skate/decks/toy-machine-vice-monster-8-88-logo-deck.html
Might be a typo? Page also says 8.38

9"
Polar 32.25", 7" n, 6.75" t, 14.5" wb
Baker mega? 32.25", 14.25" wb?

That looks sick. How about some wheel wells? Wider rigs can benefit from the ol wheel well.

Ya. Top side isn't routered so it's got a squarish edge. Shinner death like an old 80's board. Does look like they knock the edge off when sanding the rails so it's not crazy sharp.
Should give the optical illusion of the deck being ~1/4" wider. Especially if you're the type to grip a board with lots of the top ply showing.
I think Baker did something similar like 10 years but they used a smaller router bit on the top side.

That Heroin 9.25" is sick. Shape looks kinda full, like a Baker B^2
Might look like a 9.5" when it's gripped
Would you guys run this with 169's or 159's?
159's seem a lil too magic carpet ride at 1/2" narrower

So... dumb question..
Would 169's with skinny-ish wheels (say 53mm classics) overlap a double sided curb?

Welcome 'Sledgehammer' 9" x 32.4" + 14.6"wb
Independent 169 (too tight for my liking, but so I don't get wheelbite. Will size down wheels on this one.)
Spitfire Conical Full 58mm 99a
1/4 risers
Bones Reds

Creature Stu Graham 9" x 33" + 15"wb
Ace 55 (new, the bushings better soften soon, it's as loose as possible without the nut falling off)
Spitfire Classic 56mm 101a
1/4 risers
Bones Reds

Santa Cruz Winkowski 10.4" x 30.5" + 15"wb
Independent 159 Hollow (as loose as possible without nut falling off)
Bones Easy Streets V6 CJ Collins 56mm 99a
1/4 risers
Modus

Keen to try the Winkowski with Ace 55 (once broken in) and the 58mm Spitties.
Hands down my favourite deck I've ridden in the past few years.

Nice setups! The cruise missile II concave feels so good. The front foot is just locks in, like on a spoon. Loved mine too.
