I think anyone with half a brain knows that Jerry only fucks with GH for his following. It’s a smart business move on Jerry’s part. He has a built in customer base of 14 year olds that need to be told what’s cool and what’s not cool.

Or Jerry has his own agency and likes Joa as a person and also likes his skating. I guess we’ll never know, but I’d like to assume that Jerry is probably a good guy, and doesn’t view all things Sci-fi through a business lense of maximizing profits.
People are complicated, we all have many good qualities and many flaws.
Good friendships are built despite flaws. It feels like a lot of people on here are really naive regarding human nature.
Hypocrisy is thick no doubt.

Nah dog chill we moved on from this.

Been trying to get better back 3s… on flat they’re very meh, very 180 to revert. I’ve got the hang of the rotation but full committing to the spinning in the air is still pretty awkward.

Got a few really slide-y ones up the DIY euro tho

Forreal. I need to rewatch the shot, but would've thought gobert at least got a finger on it.

After seeing it again, a perfectly executed switch. Had gobert on skates lol. Was probably anticipating a drive to the rack...

I do hope these go the distance. Pretty entertaining so far.

USELESS WOODEN TOY BANTER / Re: Sole Tech Sells To The Nidecker Group

100% this is the beginning of the final chapter for éS and Emerica. As an OG Accel loyalist, this is a bummer but is not surprising. I'm betting the recent cuts at Emerica were just trying to trim the payroll to make the the whole Sole Tech package deal look better to the buyers.

Likely Nidecker just wanted Thirty Two and maybe Etnies as a mall brand and were forced to get eS and Emerica in the deal and will be susnsetting those immediately. Or maybe the IP of those will get sold off and we can get shitty zombie-versions of them like we have to Fallen, Axion, and so on.

Congrats to Pierre and Don on the payday.

That was cool

Anyone know what the deal is with who's making Toy boards these days? I've never skated one, and that video got me stoked to try one of the classic graphics. The woodshop thread was a bit confusing on whats actually going on.

Most of the pro boards are PS stix
the Team boards are either Clutch or BBS

Only the original monster graphic and the fists graphic are BBS from what I’ve seen at our shop. Almost everything else seems to be PS Stix

Christine actually messaged me back in January after I posted some shit on here calling this out , we became friends and I’m super proud of her for telling her story. Super nice lady , Chris Cole is a fucking piece of shit and it honestly breaks my heart cause little kid me idolized him.

I’m glad she finally felt comfortable enough to address this and I hope it inspires others to say something cause we don’t need these type of men in skateboarding especially when the prime demographic is the youth.

USELESS WOODEN TOY BANTER / Re: Who’s buying decks at retail?

I’m not 100% on this for decks, but my friends shop was getting forged hollow Indy 159s for $11 a set. They sell at $65 so I’d say there’s some decent margins. I’d assume it’s about the same with decks.

shops generally get decks from distro for half their recommended retail price

This is not true anymore. and never really was even 10 years ago. at this point a lot of the major brands using BBS wholesale boards at $46-52 , these decks are expected to be retailed at $74-80. It seems the median price that I've been seeing a lot lately is $48 wholesale. and the expected retail for those is $72-74

boards have always been the lowest margin item in a skateshop , unless your buying shop decks or smaller regional brands using cheaper woodshops.

I believe your friends shop was able to get those Indy's for so cheap because at some point during the pandemic they were offering box's of trucks for insanely cheap.

Is “sick” still alive?

Saying “sick” never seems to get old for me, especially in light of all the trendy lingo that has come and gone since the late 80’s. I say sick at least once a day.

I wonder how long it will take for “wet” to become dated?
