Anyone know if someone would buy my Destroyers on ebay, like are there people who would actually buy some brand new trucks from a defunct company, or should I just not bother?

the boardfeel is nothing to rave about, but the g2 airbags make up for the lack of. it actually feels like a little mini massage hitting a nice snappy ollie, its a pretty thin shoe, nice flick, and the hard toe cap keeps them from getting obliterated.

doesn't it bug you having to buy new shoes every month

If you're skating almost everyday it doesnt matter if they're vulk or not, theyre lasting me a month at the max.
3 weeks is average for me for a pair of shoes.
when the sole is smooth and thin or the side blows out its time for a new pair.

yeah or if you spray paint them with cheap shit paint and it cracks and falls off instead of being like a fake slick skin

How ever, new board some Cliche red line thing with fibre glass or something in it, i've had a shit load of them and loved them all and some Spitty classic in 54, the truck are a about 4-6 weeks old so don't need new ones

Ohh and some ebay Circa Appleyards in beige hi-top which are actually fucking great

depends on who was doing them.
the china ones flake off badly, ive seen some deluxe and alien habitat ones that looked good.
girl/chocolate seem to be the worst offenders.

the specific offender im referring to is a Stereo deck, but yeah, i had a chocolate that did it just as bad, if not worse.  it's really sorta an aesthetic thing for me, it just looks like crap and you get the flakes all over you hands

i've never had a problem with the Alien/Habitat decks

bad heat transfers flake off like that. i had an Unbeleivers do that to me the first day i set it up. some of the Stereo graphics are silk screened, i think the team decks and price points are heat transfered. Alien and Habitat have always (in my experiance) had great quality control and the graphics stay on.

nothing beats a silk screened board though, they slide the best.

I was wondering because the last twelve or so boards I've had have been either Alien or Habitat and I can't remember the shit flaking off.

this stereo deck is a pro-model......

Alien/Habitat are the best decks by far, i've gone years with only riding their decks, and then i get to the point where i feel like i should try something else, and when i do i'm always disappointed

definatly, ive had a friend literally pick off big chips of paint off his girl deck (mariano street pirate deck if it matters) until it became a blank just because he was tired of it flaking all over his clothes and hands.

8.25" green anti-hero deck (too steep, makes the board seem like an 8")
tall and wide raw thunder trucks
*were* 52mm AVE spitfires
swiss

I was skating the Leo shoe, but all the shops are out of them now.  They're super fun to skate in.

I recently stole two sets of Reds bearings from Zumiez, and took them to the local terrible shop to trade them in... $37.90 store credit, right?  Then the same guy, a few days later, hooked me up with two sets of Spitfires, discounted to $20 each, so I ended up paying $5 for $60+ of wheels.

You two kids need to go back to the TWS boards where it's okay to gay off.  And real men skate bigger than 49mm wheels.  49's are for kids.  Slap boards are for grown ass hairy and scary beard growing type men.

I'd ride 49mm at Burnisde, FDR and Mt Baldy if could. Sheeeettt I'd buy em if I can find someone in my area that carries them. One time I was skating the Sunnvale park  one time some SALBA clone in full pads felt he owned the bowl there gave me shit about my 50mm(saying shit under his breath) in the bowl, but who gives a fuck? I still skated it and had fucking fun as the bitter douche was probably steaming because he had to share his time skating his precious bowl with me and my 50's. I could give a fuck it he skated 59.5mm on a manual pad.

I really don't care, I was just making fun of the idiot who said real men skate 49mm.  I prefer large wheels because I skate from spot to spot when I street skate (if I can) and I like tranny so a larger wheel suits me, plus my money is limited and I can't buy wheels ever pay check.

It is funny how people think you can't skate ledges with bigger wheels, go watch some of the east coast videos from the mid 90's most of the guys where skating wheels between 56-60mm. Your board is a little heavier, but once you get use to it, it really isn't that big of a deal.

yea thats prolly how it is i wouldn't know biggest wheels i ever skated 53 mm. I think its just because dudes like P.J and P-Rod skate really small wheels...in W.H.L in some of P.J's lines his wheels look like circa-1993 40's.

I skated the really small wheels in the early 90's because none of the places where I lived stoked anything over 45mm and to be honest I thought it sucked, you go slower, ever little crack slows you down and you almost always get flatspots when skating ledges. If you have smooth ground it is a different thing. I like 56-57mm been skating those sizes for the last 4 years.

And don't forget the pros get free stuff so they might only skate wheels for a couple of days.

Wheel size is all just personal preference of course, but I honestly don’t know how those guys rode 60mm wheels on street. I’m from the East Coast (PA), and skated all through the 90’s. I used to always ride like 52 or 53 mm wheels then. I remember getting 54mm and my board feeling like a heavy tank to me. I guess it is just mental, because I rode 33x10 inch boards with big Indys and 60mm wheels when I first started in the 80’s. But then again, I was doing boneless and acid drops back then, not tre flips and nollie heels. It was crazy to see popular wheel sizes drop down from that to the low 40mm’s in the early 90’s. I don’t know what we were thinking then. I prefer 50 or 51mm wheels now, but all I skate is street, so once again it all depends on terrain and personal preference. A set that size usually lasts me for two decks, unless I’m skating a lot of hills. I probably should be riding a little bigger wheel here though, the ground is even rougher then it is any where back in PA. (And that’s rough!)

It is funny how people think you can't skate ledges with bigger wheels, go watch some of the east coast videos from the mid 90's most of the guys where skating wheels between 56-60mm. Your board is a little heavier, but once you get use to it, it really isn't that big of a deal.

Where do you live now? And yeah it is all personal, my best friend has ridden 60mm Spitfire Classics for like 10 years and he has one of the best tre flips out of anyone I know.

Right now I am living on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. There is only one smooth road on this whole island but luckily it is right in front of my place. The rest of the “roads” here look like the surface of the moon, you could get lost in the huge craters. It’s pretty gnarly. I am the only skater on the Island that I know of. Living here isn’t great for skating, but it definitely has other perks. This is only a temporary stop, I’ll be here for about one more year until my girl finishes veterinarian school, then it’s back to the states.

Yeah, I’m not complaining. I have this one road and a little waxed curb, I have fun. Plus on the other side of the road is the beautiful crystal blue Caribbean ocean, it’s pretty spectacular. Check it out, I live right across the street from this:

It depends on at what university my girl gets accepted to do her year long vet residency. Right now her first two choices are either the University of Oregon, or NC State. I am hoping for Oregon. After that year it will be back to Philly I think, where hopefully they will have that new street plaza type park finished. Where are you located?

Oh, that sucks bro, ha ha. That is what I am afraid of, that my girl is going to get assigned to a Midwest school, and I will have to live there for even a year. Yeah, go to Cali, you’ll have fun skating there. I have never been to Santa Cruz, but I lived in LA, and the San Diego around 93, 94. Then after you finish school you can move any where you want!

One of the best nollie heels to fakie I've ever done was at Aala Park in Honolulu with a 8.5" board with 60mm wheels and indys circa 1995-96.  Shit was seriously almost level with the lip of the oververt when I felt the board smack my feet because of the momentum from the weight of the board (I learned nollie nosemanuals with this same setup).  I've also skated the Upland park full pipe with 7.5" board with 51mm Gold Wheels which were big enough to get me a little over 9 o'clock.  Real men just skate instead of masturbating to the number on their wheels when they're new.  Right now, my setups are:

Bowl:
8.25" Black Label Hosoi
139 Independents black and red
Rock'n Ron's Ceramic Rocket Bearings
58mm Bones SPF
Deathbox rails

Park:
8" Habitat Ed Selego Hemply (shit won't die)
139 Independents black
Powell Swiss Six Balls
56mm Hubba Wheels
Dooks risers

Street:
7.6 Antihero Cardiel
145mm Thunder high black
Rock'n Ron's Rocket Bearings
54mm Mini-logo wheels
(I wrote Charles Bukowski's epitaph on the grip in purple "Don't Try.")

i have 4 right now, my regular board, a Delphi/Element cruiser, a one ply hand made jobby with Indy 101s and soft Spitfires and an Anti-Hero spray eagle rain board with big krypos and Indys. all collect dust except the regular board and the Delphi(cause it's new). nothing wring with having a bunch of different set-ups, but you gotta use 'em.

I had to take apart my cruiser since I gave my younger brother a complete setup for his 25th birthday to roll around on.  I gave my nephew a complete for his 3rd birthday, too.  I forgot to mention my rain board which is now used to skate around on the flat bar outside the garage since the ground is total board-eater (ground is fairly smooth to ride on, but will quickly eat the pop out of a board).

8" blank
139 Krux III
Diamond Titanium Bearings
52mm DGK wheels

I have a Zip-zinger, Zig-zagger, Vallely Elephant re-issue, or a Krooked Hosoi (I was using this as my cruiser before) to set up as a cruiser.  I just need some trucks.  Maybe I'll cannibalize the ones on my rain/driveway board.  Decisions, decisions.

how many 'set-ups' do 'real men' have?

I got my regular set up to skate whatever, then I have one that I use to film with that has softer wheels, bigger board.

Are they? Dude, my board is always ending up in weird places - like in the dirt, bark dust, etc. And I'm too lazy to clean them. So I asked for the cheapies. Dude at the shop told me that the pros who are on the shop team rock the cheapies too because they can't tell the difference.

And I was right too - the first thing I did was a 5-0 on a curb, and my board shot out and into some bark dust! Bearings fucked in five minutes!

I had my last set for over 3 years before I ruined them (w-40 and forgot to oil them after). They are well worth the money, and the dude at the shop is full of shit most pros ride swiss because they hold up so long. Most people I know clean theirs once a year or so.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try them. I've always wanted to. I like skating fast.

Btw, I don't wanna name drop, but the dude at the shop's whole crew of friends are professional skateboarders as well. I'm pretty sure he knows what they ride. Do you think shops like selling cheaper shit as opposed to more expensive shit? Think about that.

depends if the shop makes money off the cheap stuff like decks, I shouldn't say all pros ride swiss but more then once reading those set up interviews almost every pro mentions swiss when asked what they ride.

I noticed that too, but they also claim to ride their sponsors trucks and decks when in fact many pros ride Indys and Deluxe boards with their graphics on them (the Zero team comes to mind). At least that's what I hear, who knows if it's true.

You're not alone. I recently discovered them, and I've had two Alfaros and I have the Lucha Leeper all gripped up and ready. They are way stiff and the shapes are sick too. Not too pointy! Blunt and big.

so i finally am hyped on my setup

ive been riding these ventures forever and the hardware actually fell off, the funny thing is i ride really loose so i didnt even notice until i abruptly stopped and looked like a shitfucker

and i gave a gander at my wheels and one wheel that stood out to me was warped beyond belief, probably about 45mm

i hate getting new shit, but i decided it was time to grow some balls

so i bought a new shop deck
independent's (the kostons were there, but if i have to choose between two trucks that skate the exact same, i will choose the cheaper ones)
spitfire classics, 54 mm
bones redz
yeuh im hyped

With every post you've made in this thread you've solidified everyone's opinion of you as the little kid who wants to transcend his years but just can't not be 13 no matter what he does. If you don't give a shit and think this is all a joke and hate us all, then why even post any more? Why try to defend your self from every stupid insult someone makes about you? Obviously it does phase you because you have respect for older people on here, that's why you try to get all that skate knowledge, so you can hang with us. And that Slap Stereotype you described, I have a sneaking suspicion that your Slap Stereotype is a lot more a reflection of what you want to be than an actual description of anybody on this board.

I'm sure I've made plenty of intelligent posts, and even if I haven't, I know they're a worlds ahead of anything you've ever contributed to this place.  You're the little kid that lies on the internet about what he can do and who he knows so the older guys won't hate him, but they do anyway.  Wait a few years and you'll see what were talking about.

i dont wanna have to defend S-town holla but if you had a friend that lived say, 5 minutes away, hes your friend. ok now your friend moves 2 hours away. does that make him not your friend. no, he is still your friend. so ding ding ding, S-Town Holla wins

Come on now, he doesn't really know this kid.  He might have seen him around once or twice or even talked to him on one occasion.  That doesn't equal friend, especially when the dude lives two hours away.  According to S-town's logic, every person he's ever talked to is a friend.  He's a little kid whose so desperate to fit in with the older guys, that he'll say anything to impress them.

I don't think they sell any other trucks in Oregon besides Independent's.  There's some Oregon law in place that makes it illegal for anything but Indy's into the state.

A couple of years back, I thought it would be a good idea to save all my boards for a full year; from Thanksgiving to Thanksgiving.  After that, I shot a photo of them all up against the wall and then brought them to the park and gave them to random kids, or whatever.  Since I don't ride them very long, that usually stokes someone out.  It makes me feel better to do something sort of philanthropic for all the times I gave the park kids dirty looks for getting in my way.   ;)

Now, I think I'm gonna switch it up.  Even though I only have a few photos of actual set-up's, I think that by using the photos I take for this thread, I can keep the boards documented and still be able to free up some space in my garage.  I just think it's a pretty cool trip down memory lane when you can look back and be reminded by the board that you skated on a trip somewhere.  Anyone else do shit like this?

I gave my first board away (Kewday 7.625) and have regretted it ever since. I sound like a hoarder, but I find you develop a relationship with your board and they remind you of different periods of your skating (tricks learnt, places skated, what the weather was like etc.). I know this sounds stupid, but I am thinking of putting dates on my boards to remind me when I skated them - however, after reading the last post, maybe I will give them away eventually...

At the moment:

Afends 8 x 31.8 (Byron Bay (AUS) company that got a limited run of boards made through Dwindle - the local rep works at a bong shop near my office and sells them to me for $80AUS, which is damn cheap for these parts!)
Venture Polished 5.0s
World Industries 50mm wheels (brand new for $15AUS from a local pawn shop - also damn cheap for these parts!)
Minilogo bearings (they ran out of Modus Blacks)
Jessup griptape
Hardware from the box of spares at PSC skateshop

it's cool that you do that. we have a thing here where we give our used stuff to kids at the park, they give their stuff to younger kids, etc...

sharing shoes and stuff is a great way to help your scene become tight-knit. its been a few years since anyone's given me product, but I love the feeling of giving away stuff to people who need it moreso than receiving stuff

Giving product to kids that need is a great feeling. I hooked up a kid who was skating outside of my work with w new deck that i had here. he asked me a couple times if i was sure. he was stoked and i felt great the rest of the day. been helping out the kids of my girl's co-worker with my old boards and wheels.

broke my deck last night, so my set up is now:

I checked out that website, and it seems kinda fucked, because the largest in Autobahn or Bones were 54mm Bones 100s. It did look to me, though, that the Autobahn 53s come with a free KOTR 2006 DVD.

Campus, for sure.

Suede Gazelles are great for kicking around. I don't like the way Campus's wear down. They literally explode off that seam.
