youtube and internet celebs live in an alternate world, where nobody gives a fuck about what they do except their fan base. Like if Taylor swift, drops a new album, even though you don't give a fuck. You're forced to be aware of it through ads, posters, interviews, and even memes and jokes attacking it. That's why internet people can be horrible people for so long without being called out.

That's why they don't want people talking about it. Their fans still back them, and as long as their fans still back them, they are fine. Right now this is only an issue for braille fans and internet skate nerds. Their worst-case scenario is that it gets picked up by some news organization.

If you look at most popular youtubers, especially ones with young fanbases, they are all severely damaged mentally and emotionally. I'm pretty sure that at this point youtube does more damage to its young "stars" than Disney. In most scenarios (unlike a parent hugging their child) it is not legal for an adult to do much of anything with a child. According to Penal Code 647.6, it is against the law to "annoy" or "molest" (bother) a child in a sexual context.

agreed with all of this too. Refusing to make a public statement "to protect the privacy of the girl" is bullshit, they need to own their responsibility in the matter, enabling this predator, and take steps to prevent him from doing it again, including asking any other victims to come forward.
