I think their rationale for not making a big announcements about this is that they are aware their fanbase is full of cyberbullying dipshits, so the less of them know, the less will bully the mom. You can't make a decent human being from an asshole through one youtube video, but you can limit the spread of information (which unsurprisingly benefits them too).
