Update on the Flight Deck setup from earlier in the thread. (I figured I would post here instead of spin out a new thread).

Just 3-4 sessions in, the deck rolled under a parked car and the top carbon layer peeled back like a banana. I tried gluing it back down, but gorilla glue nor super glue would bond correctly to the carbon/composite weave. I de-gripped the deck to get a better look and got many carbon splinters in the process. I'm kinda over it already, but I did reach out to SkateOne and see if they had a glue they'd recommend.

It's a shame I didn't get much out of the deck before it started falling apart, it was skating pretty well. For the cost/issues/splinters, this just might not be my thing.

Wasn't their entire marketing campaign about how their decks could survive being run over by a car? I'd ask for a replacement and promise I'd try my best not to get my deck run over by a car anymore.

oh man that sucks to hear!
especially with such an expensive board and then having it fucked up by such a minor thing and making it kinda unskateable......

friend of mine who always breaks boards was over the flight pretty quick since he found them to razor tail as fast as any regular board...

might contact powell to get a refund would be you best bet?

the deck rolled under a PARKED car. so, it did not get run over by a moving vehicle? how did the carbon layer peeled back? chipped?

It ran under one of those new BMW Z4s, so the car had the underside pretty flat with those composite panels they use for aero/nvh. It rubbed the nose of the skateboard on that, came to a stop towards the front underside of the car, and it peeled back the carbon layer.

It’s hard to say if a normal 7-ply would’ve gotten a nose chip or not from the same oddball scenario.

My theory is the carbon to maple laminate connection has a poor horizontal shear threshold compared to a 7-ply maple.

idk about splinters, might want to look that up.  but do not sand carbon fiber products w/o the correct NIOSH rated mask.

do these boards come with a cancer warning sticker?

wow wow wow. the color coordination with the shoes and board graphic, the graphic itself. very pleasing. ++++++ GNAR.
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

Agreed, is Alien doing a less square/massive kick shape now? These kicks look pretty normal for them.

I think it depends on the size.  They all seem to be pretty square.
I have the 8.25 Alien which has a long nose and tail, but my son has the 8 x 31.625 Metal with the 14 inch wheelbase, and the nose and tail are both pretty standard as far as length.

They are definitely full, but not crazy squared like some other brands. I've not skated a board like this before so I'm excited to see how it goes.

Weird thing is Alien uses a few different 8.38 shapes. This one with the 14.25 wb isn't on any of their current boards.

To close the loop on the flight deck issue, Skate One said that kind of damage can happen from a sharp impact, they’ve seen it from exposed nails on ramps. Not a factory defect in their opinion.

They recommended using a two part epoxy to rebind while clamping it down. I would try that but it’s pretty messed up now from my attempts at using gorilla glue, it expanded, pushing the chip up at an angle.

They were nice about it though and gave me a discount code, so I ordered the Cab Ban This flight deck to give it one more shot.

Primitive 8.0 with black magic grip
Indy 139 with inverted king pin
58 radial spitfire f4s with swiss 6.

Af1 mid jewel
Looks goofy but skates good. I thought these bigger wheels would be the solution for shit street but they're not. Might need soft wheels.

Dragons/X Formula are your friend, don't let the helmet wearing weirdo dissuade you from trying them. Set up looks sick btw, small board with big wheels look cool imo.
