I love how 149's (and 159's) feel, but trying a bunch of flippity flop starts to hurt my knees, ankles, back. Also much less likely to get lucky with some shit that I don't really have (sometimes I can throw out some bullshit and get away with it on smaller set ups). So. Do you feel like you can flip an 8.1 with 149s easier than a wider board on the same size trucks? I've kinda felt like the deck width had been less important for me, while truck width has been very important.

B16 is as close to 'the one' as I've had. Bought a dee, sky blue b16 from 35th Ave last summer, the board had baker written in an all over pattern, but really faint. Wasn't the mellow concave. Super crispy, felt noticeably lighter than a different b16 I had at the same time (Herman noseface, mellow concave). Anybody tried the  b19? Be nice to find that one. Basically an 8.25 version of the b16 if I've sussed it out correctly.
[close]

hey,
how do you guys know what type of shape it is on the baker boards? what measurements do i have to look for if i wanna get a b16 or b19?

The B16 shape is the 8.475x31.875 with a 14.25WB.  It's slightly pointy and very mellow.  Not sure on the B19

I tried it once and it didn't work out for me.  Even on 8.25's I prefer 139's.

149's on a smaller board feel amazing on grinds because its so stable.  Unfortunately that stability is because your board doesn't have leverage over the trucks so when I tried it in a bowl i slammed hard on a simple backside carve.

Ha I'm the opposite...I run 149s on everything down to 8. I'd try them on 7.75 if I could. All kidding aside, how you liking Crail concave again Steve? I'm skating a really flat National board and I think it might be ruining me for other boards, I may have to grab a Crail next.

AWS 8.5 with 14.25 WB (I was told Max Garson chose this shape) top pic so you can see how huge the nose and tail are

Indy 149 TiTs w/ aftermarket oranges
Race Reds
f4 Dressen 54 conicals 99

Awesome! Holy shit that's a beast size nose. I don't know how I missed this one first time around. Nice setup Tangar.

Ugh, board wasnt working out for me today.  I think I learned that 8.25 is as small as I can go.  I did however like the concave because i prefer flat boards which is why I like the B16.  I wouldnt hesitate to skate a bigger chocolate or girl board in the future

Been on PS wood for a while now so thought I'd revisit an old favorite. Ishod 8.3 symmetrical. I was stoked on the last one of these I had so hopefully this one's a gem too. It's a bit more pointy than I remember this shape being though.

the funny part is that i have spitfires but i got some satori wheels on the set up that i got from my stoner cousin larry in sf a few months ago, also i think you cant be hesh if you cant skate transition for shit, lol. and speaking of the full shape the board i wanted to get originally  is that real 8.75 full shape but i couldn't find it online anywhere yet for some reason.

New (to me) wood, courtesy of the homie and PAL keeperofthe3packbonanza. I wanted to try out the PS Stix 8.5 shape. I don't know why people shit on it because it feels fucking great to me, I learned hardflips on this yesterday. I'll definitely cop the Dylan FA board.

The Baker B16 shape is my favorite shape of all time. It just feels so right, been skating them for the last few years now and my last six boards in a row have all been B16 boards. With that said, guess what board I'm about to post? Yup.... Another one.

Baker 8.475
Indy 149
Black Bones STF 54mm. Got em on sale. I haven't ridden colored wheels in years so it's gonna be weird looking at my board and not seeing white wheels, but I don't mind black wheels at all. Id be bugged if they were any other color but blacks alright with me.
Random mix of bearings
Mob M80 grip
Iron Horse/Shake Junt hardware
B16 decks rollin' deep on this page!

Good news is that you have an 'excuse' (for you) to not land your normal shit and just cruise. Maybe that's why I switch boards up all the time, it's almost like I'm relearning how to do a nollie flip or whatever. New setup: some tricks leave, others appear. Always.
Gnar-ed for your super positive post, it gave me a new outlook on the board. Sure, I'm not landing the flippiest flips on it but it feels rad to cruise on so I'm just going to keep it for the time being and see what happens. I train in a sword martial art too and sometimes you see these dudes just using fucking beastly swords (with no fucks given) so I'm gunna be that guy skating street on a long-arse vert board! As long as I'm having fun right? I went for a roll with my boy on Saturday morning and chucked a few nollies around, they felt much better than my first few sessions.

Imp - Nice work, I might totally steal that grip pattern on one of my next boards.  ;D
Do it! and post the results. It wasn't that hard to do actually. I originally planned to do the OG h-street grip style but then decided (at the last minute) I wanted a superimposed version of it (if that makes sense?). The square for it was about 4cm x 4cm which is the perfect size imo. Kept everything straight using the dots on the back of mob grip. Next I think I want to have two of them in random places just like the old days!!

also @imp i like how your grip is so much im contemplating to grip over my bolts next setup,
fucking do it!!!! I always grip over the bolts

I'm glad people are backing this grip job, I was a bit worried at first because every man and his dog who owns a welcome tends to go waaaay overboard when they grip their boards :-\

I'm ashamed of myself ... while in the mall waiting for my wife to grab some things she needed I walked into Zumiez to pass a few min ... they had a 8.06 full Real sitting there which I've wanted to try since the only reason I stopped skating Real's originally was that the smaller sizes started becoming more tapered and I couldn't deal ... well I couldn't resist the impulse buy :(

I will say though that I am really psyched on the size/shape of this board and will probably find a few more real/krooked this size to skate while waiting to have some made
