Krooked Cromer 8.25, 14.38 wb
Thunder 148 hollow lights
Spitfire f4 101 53mm conical

Deluxe top to bottom on this one (except bones super reds).  I had sworn off thunders due to wheelbite, but after seeing Ishod and Christian Henry running riser pads on thunders I thought I’d give it a go. With the 3mm riser pad, I believe this is basically the height of forged indys. So far so good.

How’s the 14.38wb feel with thunders?

Only one session in, but they felt good. I was rolling indys on a 14.38 before I set this one up and there wasn’t a drastic adjustment.

Sick! Thought about getting that deck
[close]

I had a look too - we have two at the shop and it's definitely a more custom BBS shape. Deeper concave.

It's also got a mellower tail than most bbs decks and a really nice full shape. I put off trying one for ages because I figured it was the same as the deathwish shape (since they're both 8.25 x 31.5 and bakerboys) but then I saw a good high res profile shot of one online and the tail caught my eye. Combined with the fact it's a 31.5" deck with14.25" wb, the birdhouse standard mold might genuinely be my favorite non-dlx BBS shape.

Only other one that's close is the FA 8.25 but even though I like it I usually skate like shit on them because of the steep tail. If I could get a bbs deck with the FA nose, birdhouse tail, and dlx 8.28 concave/dimensions I'd get wetter than a blind lesbian at a fish market.

This is just the motivation I needed to run risers on my Thunder Hollow Lights. What riser are you using? I have some pink Krooked risers at 1/8 laying in the ol’ toolbox.

1/8 lucky risers. Definitely less wheelbite, but doesn’t feel tippy with the added height. Let me know how it works out for you.

Thunders with 1/8 risers is 100% a game changer. I did run them, it definitely made me fall in love with the truck even more. It almost made me like them better than aces.

i tend to rock 53 or 54 with my 44s/149s on risers and i don’t get too much wheelbite (at least anything super noticeable). It’s worth mentioning the i’m 6’3”and 195 and ride my trucks on the looser/surfier side.

Ha! I’m trying buddy. Add tail slides to a long list of my shortcomings. To make matters worse a lot of the marks on the tail resulted from shameful blunt stalls on parking blocks.

I have a problem where I tend to like everyone else’s board instead of my own. For the first time in a long time my setup feels like it’s actually mine and everything is how I want it. The trucks are a big part of that. I like having a baseplate that makes contact on nose and tailslides. The height compared to 03’s helps with flip tricks. They feel as good on transition as they do skating street. The only negative thing I’d say is that they’re not as loose as the lows were. I wish I would’ve given them a chance years ago

Dude. I’m the creep that is always trying to step on the homies setup, and I’ll kickflip it all relaxed and then go back to struggling on my own pos. Every time. I’ve gotten so far away from what should work for me from doing this, and it’s probably how I went away from 33s when they working for me in the distant past. I’ve got 44s....and it’s just that above 8” trucks I cannot do much.
33s also look the best.
Thanks for the reply, hyped you found what works!

I've enjoyed the egg shaped board a lot. thunders are what I grew up skating on so it always feels like home. I've had 5.8 ventures in the past and those are too beast for me haha, but I loved how nose/tailslides feel on ventures in comparison to thunders. I've always loved girl shapes and I've yet to try their new wood so that'll be interesting

I’ve got the same deck, on the way, from a Black Friday purchase.  Currently riding a Krooked “Team Eyes” 8.75”.

I used to ride the 8.5” full shape from Deluxe but they’ve taken those out of their lineup.

I may stay with the 8.75” until they stop making them.

I’m on the same current Krooked eyes 8.75, but just found my fave TKF 8.75 shape again; the Krooked Nose/tail are a touch long for my taste but still a dope shape that’s more readily available than my preferred stumpier TKF shape. Sorry, currently intoxicated
