Listened to Nikolai Pimobo on nine club and he mentioned wanting the 8 hole pattern for his pro truck but was told Koston gets it for the year.  Sounds like it’ll be in the mix still in the future.
it will be re-occuring as a pro truck

Nice.  The way he describes it, sounds like it works for him, was riding PS boards so likely smaller wheelbase anyways and likes a flatter pop.  He mentioned ishod skating them and how he skates looser trucks.  V8 makes sense with the pop being a bit more like a thunder but easier to skate loose trucks.  I always thought his twin had too short of a nose, so the V8 would set up better on it IMO.

After getting a pair of V8s gonna throw out a couple conclusions I came to when comparing wheelbase and weight to the cast highs. Call me crazy
• they bring the wheelbase in a little even in the "OG forward position." Didn't measure the V8 position but I suspect that they would bring the wheelbase in more than just .5" this is contrary to what is stated in the marketing material. Maybe around a third of an inch total? Again, call me crazy
• the hangers are a little heavier (~5g per truck). Not sure if this is just the hangers I got but they are not as tapered where the axles come out. Little extra meat there.
• baseplates are heavier too (2g per truck). This is expected because of the "extended (baseplate) housing" and has already been mentioned

Obviously the V8 baseplate is new but I'm surprised about all these differences from the cast highs, especially the hanger. Like why not just drill new holes and call it a day? Personally I welcome the smaller "OG" wheelbase though and will be rocking these baseplates on a lighter hanger to counter some of that extra weight. The V8 holes bring the wheelbase in too much on a 14" IMO shout out Ben Degros for doing this to me

EDIT: baseplates are 2g heavier than cast, not 25. Measured way wrong initially

If you look at the top-down photo comparing the V8 baseplate to the standard, you can see that the pivot cup and kingpin have been slightly pulled in on the V8, effectively reducing the wheelbase even in the standard hole setup.

No, the pivot cup and kingpin aren't pulled in they added like 1.5mm of material on each side as the marketing material states. I have both and have measured both. They do pull the wheels in more than stated- it's like .3" per truck rather than .25". They do not pop anything like a Thunder as someone stated they're actually lighter feeling. Also Nicolai said WKND has been using BBS for a while and he has a custom shape.

With the standard holes aligned between the V8 and standard base plate, the pivot cup and kingpin locations on the V8 are shifted towards the center of the board as shown in the attached photo from a previous post.

It’s mando. My first trucks in the 80s came with flat washers.  Maybe my first 2 or 3.  Trucks was meant to be like this

venture really should design a low baseplate
im at a loss for the “why not” in that argument
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Cuz no one buys them. Ventures sell the least of their tricks and very few people buy the lows.

they are still being made (pro version in last drop)
would it be crazy to assume enough people buy lo?

the hangers being the same shouldnt be a problem
if you want a different wb, buy the v8 baseplate…
could easily be the same with venture lo

Received these venture titanium lights 5.2 high as a gift. The tag/sticker on the bottom of baseplate looks different than my last set, does anyone know if they are legit?
They weigh 315g with the axle nuts on.

They're mostly made for pre-made kids completes in small sizes and sold by large chains. I was once told by someone that sounded like they were in the know that there were so few shops that actually ordered sets that Venture wasn't actively pouring any because they had a year of back stock just sitting there.

The new Ace and Slappy lows are a tad higher and probably more what people want in a low truck that it likely doesn't help Venture much.

I believe that's the new sticker format they're using, looks similar to the ones on my pair of V8.

The funny thing is it seems like they almost wanted to mess up the stickers to make them way harder to copy - there were a lot of fake / counterfeit products getting around in 2020 and so this was one of the ways to make sure they couldn't copy a nice clean cut product sticker, which then caused a few people to question whether it was a cheap knock off.

The product sticker on trucks and wheels are both like that, but yes as said, they appear to be the genuine product.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. I’m glad they look like the real venture titanium’s.
I know there was a thread on counterfeit titanium’s a couple of years ago, and I think it was only the gold baseplate prods that got counterfitted.
Anyway, I weighed my hollow lights, that are decently ground down just hitting axle in one spot, and they came in at 322g. The titanium lights are new at 315g so  still slightly lighter.

Forgot to add the bit about the gold P-Rod Venture 5.2s being the only fake ventures being made at the time. My assumption is that the Chinese copy cats realized how unprofitable and small bootleg skateboard parts were and the fad had died. So they scaled back and just did bootleg Bones bearings.

Sorry if I missed this - does anyone have the wb pushout for Ventures using the new 8 hole configuration? Assuming you put both holes to the position that pushes it IN further (assuming the other position is just standard venture WB)

I lined both of them up on standard holes( the v8 with the normal setting and standard ventures) and the axles are off by like 1mm possibly 2. The v8 being more in than standards

V8 bushings are beautifully soft. I almost was just gonna throw in a set of my best purps but I’m glad I didn’t.
While I was digging I found some opaque old dark purps in the toolbox.
I’m glad that bullshit is long long over

I went offset. Wanted to keep the short tail.  I have the same Marbie shape s last time so I just brought the noise in. Also instead of 5.8s or even 5.6s I kept the v8 5.2 hangers on.
It looks like my 9” with the 6.1s as it’s an 8.5.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow

I think it’s just wider so it turns better. Also my 6.1s are def have a bushing thing going on. I think they might have been cut wrong. Or my king pins longer in um. They jingle with out modification. Very dumpy. On top of that I skate um Shakira with only 6 bolts. Wild as ride with the 56 radi-fulls. It’s like a pig. But I nollies so nice.
