Has anyone with the V8 trucks had any issues with the holes warping after doing a lot of nose/tail slides? I realised that might be an issue long term given how there isn’t a lot of material separating the holes etc.
Holes aren't warped, the baseplate is wearing like any normal venture. But the nuts on my hardware are flattening on the side because I'm sliding on them since my trucks are in v8 position lol.
The closest I would go with redrilling a deck is 3/8" but I know I have seen people redrill at 1/4" as well, which worked for them.
As for trucks, I have redrilled my baseplates at 1/4" each, some a little closer, almost through the metal between holes, but so far nothing has pushed through or had any other issues with them.
I think the truck metal would hold up way better than plywood boards in that regard, but maybe I don't skate half as hard as some others either, so I might not be the best example of how gear wears in general.
The Venture baseplates in the V8 are slightly more than 1/4" so people have said 5/16" and looking at those baseplates, there is plenty of metal between the two sets of holes, so I don't think anyone could really push the holes so hard that they break through.
Image I saw from Cowtown is good, with the light behind it:
