Hey pantsers. Wanted to share some photos of the Huf Cromer jeans and Buttergoods Santosuosso jeans. My true waist is a 29/30

Huf Cromer size 30

Buttergoods Santosuosso size 28

I think the Santosuosso's are a good amount of looseness. The Cromer's did shrink in the wash. If I were to get them again, I would do a size 32 instead of a 30

Question for the 565 lovers out there, do you go up in size and how much? I’m a true 31 but I bought a pair in 34 to play it safe and I still feel a little constricted when I do certain tricks, nollie heel for example, also another question bc I usually sag my pants just below my hip bones but in 565 it feels like I have to wear them above that to make them work so do you guys just go hella up in size to get that to work?

I'm a new 565 enjoyer and I went pretty true size-wise. I'm a 36 and they feel good in a 36, but I haven't worn/washed them enough times to see if they shrink/feel different with more wear. Will report back later

Don't sleep on the Vans Check-5 Loose jeans. Definitely on the heavier more rigid denim side but can be found on sale for ~$50 which is I don't feel bad skating in them territory. A little more taper than the '93s but they also have a baggy version. Not a huge selection of colors though.

my OCD is real and i think Y2K silvertabs really fit the bill in terms of balancing baggy and taper, but theyre mad hard to come by in good condo in ebay in the size i wear and really inconsistent in terms of the actual fit due to shrinkage or whatever.

so i faced the dilemma of buying baggy tapered that werent too tapered for a sized up top, which forced me to go a waist size up (which is too big for me IMO) or buying big boys in my actual waist size for the big seat and thigh, that were always too baggy in the leg opening cuz im short and have to hem them.

so i took a pair of cromers that were a waist size too big but had the perfect leg and traced the taper from the knee down on a pair of big boys i despised the clownishly large leg opening of and brought it to my sewing machine and BOOM.

i finessed a pair of baggy jeans that actual fit my waist without weird inward crotch folds, and a leg that tapers to a clean opening that stacks nicely. i essentially created silvertab clones out of my favorite denim supplier… highly rec to anyone looking for a clean baggy to invest in a singer heavy duty or a tailor and altering to ur prefs, instead of searching endlessly for the right fit. im sure this has been said somewhere, just posting a success story cuz nobodytpld me how altering works
[close]

Fuuuck yeah, this sounds too cool. I'd love to do something similar, and i even have a Singer Heavy Duty, but i have no idea where to start really - any tips?

thats the machine i have too. I started by learning how to hem by measuring the outseam of a pair of pants i liked the length of. I use a heavy duty needle for denim. As far as the tapering went, all i did was turn the big boys inside out and lay them flat, then put the pants i liked on top and traced the leg from the knee down to the leg opening with sewing pins.

I didn't do any fancy chalk lining because i'm comfortable with the machine and can eyeball it. I used a straight stitch from the first pin down to the leg opening and used scissors to cut the excess fabric. It's important that you also stitch down the leg of the excess fabric part to avoid major frays. after that, i folded a new hem and sealed the deal.

They looked great when I tried them on but was not expecting them to shrink that much after wash (cold water, low tumble dry). I suggest getting one size up but definitely a good idea to try a pair on first

I don't see mention of it here but the Tough Threads pants by Real are my current favorite to skate in. 100% cotton canvas, double knee, good ventilation, great fit and stretch. Retail $85 got em for $32 and will be bargain hunting more.

thinking of it now my cromers shrunk maybe a lil bit after the first washes, i don't tumble dry them though. just wear em for a bit, the soft denim should loosen up after a while.
also if you have a bit longer legs than me sizing up in the cromers usually makes for a real good and baggy fit

Nike sb Kearney has 2 different styles. One is like traditional cargo pants material I think, but the ones I’m talking about are the dri-fit material with built in belt. Great cut, ankle cinch, and they are my favorite pants to skate in

Funny enough, years ago I bought some of the less ridiculous skinnier Jnco sort of ironically, and actually ended up becoming a fan of just how high quality they are. Honestly they are miles above any skate Jean out there in quality.

Many of the styles are ridiculous. Most even, but the lesser stated jeans are palatable and excellent.

@cant kickflip but can tre sort of inspired me to maybe post pictures of all my baggies in case it would help anyone. Not sure when I will, but I’ve got a bunch of butters, dimes, cromers, polars plus the standards like dickies and Carhartts. Might be a fun Xmas break project

So this is going to be a long one and not as organized as @cant kickflip but can tre so I apologize in advance. Went ahead and pulled out all my skate and skate adjacent pants. Maybe this will help someone as they're shopping, maybe not. Going to break these into a couple different groups for organization.

I'm 6'4" and 200lb. I measure out at a 34 usually and my inseam is about 32. I never buy up a size, I like my pants to fit around the waist so for the most part these are all my "correct" waist size. I do like to cuff my pants so some of these inseams are long. I didn't pull all the measurements but if anyone is curious I can take them for a specific pant.

Skate Brands

Huf Cromers Size 34

Butter Santosuossos 34x32

Dime Baggy Denim (?) Size L

Polar Big Boy Knockoffs Size XL (considered not including these but I've compared them to real Big Boys and fit wise they're nearly identical)

Butter Baggy Denim Size 34

Dime Relaxed or Straight Fit? Size 34 (Both pairs of Dime Jeans were given to me by @big_kev_215 )

Workwear Style Pants

Polar 44 Size 34x34

Dickies 874 Flex Size 36x34

Carhartt B11 Loose Fit 34x32

Carhartt B151 Loose Fit 36x34

Stretchy Waist Pants

Theories Stamp Lounge Pants size XL

Polar Surf Pants size L

Limpies size L-XL (shout out to @Lou Strux )

Not the denim specifically, but I have 2 pairs of their heavy canvas pants (digger club, I think). They're high quality garments and among my favorite pants. I reckon the denim is quality too and well worth the box day sale prices they're going for.

I had a couple pairs of the Worker’s Club denim including the shorts. They don’t tear as easily as Polar, and are slightly better quality than Butter. I miss those purple overdyed shorts.

I just got some Levi’s 578s and they are definitely what I’ve been looking for. Sit at the waist nicely. Not super baggy but just perfectly. And fit is great, very much so more true to size than most pants I’ve been trying. Might be my perfect pair

I really like the way old Levi's 560s fit with the tapered leg so I can see my shoes better

I have some old dickies "branders" corduroys that are a loose fit tapered leg as well and fit almost exactly the same

Right now I just have a bunch of old dickies and Carhartts

I used to tuck my pants into my socks cause I rode my bicycle everywhere

I'm thinking I might add a single lil snap at the hem of some dickies or Carhartts just to try it out, so when they're snapped the leg opening is like, 7" or something, maybe less so I can ride me bike and skate and see my shoes and not get my shit caught in the chain or whatever

I think I'm really gonna like the option of just snapping them to change from straight leg to tapered. They're all work pants already and everyone already knows I'm weird. Plus it won't be that noticeable. I'll prolly use those lil metal circle snaps like on dickies/red kap kitchen shirts. When I was a kid I loved the ripstop pants with the little ties at the bottom so you could cinch em below the knee like muskaaaa

If I hadn't already cut them all to length with a raw hem I would have more room to work with stuff like adding a hidden elastic drawstring

I have some size 36 Carhartt double knees in my eBay stuff, I could try it on them. They'd look completely normal but you could cinch the bottoms...

Major shout out to my new dress pants.

I was tired of wearing pants for business travel that I wouldn’t fuck with IRL. Until I found these bad boys…

https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E462197-000/00?colorDisplayCode=32&sizeDisplayCode=004

I got these in XXL for some added volume, but they are not goofy boy at all. I think the length is 32” and the rise is long enough to wear at your waist with a dress shirt and at the hips if you want to sag. The material is mid weight and there is elastic in the waist and an internal drawstring so you can wear with a belt for the office and w/o a belt for chillin after work. They also have a little stretch so they feel like sweat pants when you are sitting down.

I’ve never been this excited about a pair of work pants. I highly recommend picking up a pair. And size up for that added swag.
