@PC500 awesome, and the quality of the bracelet is off the charts for the price right? Does yours have the 80hr power reserve too?
(I think maybe you mentioned before that is was the older version with the ETA movement)

I've watched 4 or 5 of these videos this week.  Super interesting and very relaxing before bed.
I'm posting from my blackberry wtf?!?!?

Yeah man the bracelet is excellent. I swap it out for a NATO every now and then but always stoked to go back on the bracelet. My mate has a Sinn 556 on the H-link, it's obviously higher quality but the Hamilton holds up pretty well against it.

Yeah it's the older ETA movement.

yeah, I could see the comparison with the Sinn there: the Sinn costs more but they put less effort into their bracelets (imho) and more into the watch itself kinda like seiko does.
The older ETA movement is better for servicing etc. because any watchmaker can do it, but that 80 hour power reserve is such a god send if you are rotating watches like a madman (i.e. me!)

Haven’t worn a watch in probably 20 years.. but my better half, understandably, got fed up with me surfing for hours and not checking in.  So in an effort to ease her concerns, I ordered a water resistant timepiece so I can get out and call/text at an agreed upon hour.  Wish there was something with stand alone data for voice calling, so I wouldn’t have to get out, but since I can’t find one that won’t break the bank, this will have to do;

@Gray Imp Sausage Metal

I think you don't live anywhere near Tokyo, but if you're in the area, might be worth it to check out.

It's a store my company works with and the owner is a really sweet guy... and if my experience of running events similar to this in Japanese stores is any indication, there will be lots of passionate watch nerds there looking at each other's collections and discussing them.

just general complaints about pricing/ designs etc. I don’t really dig their current range, but back in the day they put out some really awesome and well built timepieces. When is yours from? Looks kinda 90s…

Dope, it had great sentimental value then, that adds something unique to your own piece.

I hope you only make a shallow dive into the watch world, it’s a deep slippery money pit if you start getting too obsessed!

I’m still trying to cut down my collection, but am really just enjoying what I own at the moment rather than lusting after something in particular … (Cept maybe a Tudor sub)

Tag dropped these recently! 36mm version too, I tried on the white one on Saturday. Keen to see the black in person.
Heavy 2254/52.50 omega vibes, but the micro adjust on the clasp is solid for the pricepoint!

Chronographs are fun to play around with, the date at 4 o’clock is a fav of mine even though none of my current watches has one. Tissot is a well-respected brand even amongst watch snobs. How’s the rubber strap? Looks like it’s integrated

My mum gave me this watch and pocket watches. The watch was my fathers. RIP. We use to live in Alaska "reason for the rams". I need to get it cleaned and put a new band on it. The pocket watches were handed down from my relatives. They are probably 70 years old.

I gave them a follow, it's interesting though: after watches get beyond Rolex (and even for most rolex models) I don't find anything that even really interests me. Like Richard Mille watches look like straight up wrist vomit!

as a general rule I don't sleep with a watch on, but we're talking about timex here, you can't get much more entry level than that so perhaps you might want to lower your expectations there.
Maybe try something automatic (Seiko 5 is a good start) if the ticking bugs you... the smooth sweep of the seconds hand is actually what started me on this whole journey!!!
