Got out to skate street today and managed to get a pic while taking care of my 9month old. Took only one shot of the fs k but I‘m satisfied. Kid was very interested in the flashes so I had to setup and run a couple of times haha.

Thanks guys, it's in the March 2023 issue the one with the cover of Emile at Burnside.

For submitting I just went to the website and saw that they had the submissions options, as well as seeing the e-mail before in the mag.
Here's what it says on the site.

Quote
Photograffiti submissions:
By sending us photos, you are giving us permission to use them in Thrasher's Photograffiti section, free of charge. The photo(s) you send may be printed in the very next magazine, a year from now, or not at all. There's no way of knowing.

Email your Photo-G submissions directly to [email protected]

The photo(s) you send should have your name, trick, location, and the photographer's name CLEARLY stated. Ideally, each digital photo file would contain the skater's name and location in the file name itself (plus the photographer's last name, too). This creates long file names, but it really helps us sort through them, make sure we print the correct info, and it'll increase the odds of your photo getting printed.

For those shooting digital, are you using dSLRs or mirrorless cameras?

I've always used dSLRs but am contemplating moving from my current Canon 5dii to a mirrorless in the hope of getting some faster sharper auto focus.

I would probably prefer to get a 5Div but they're quite expensive for how old they are now. Thinking about an r6 mirrorless if I can find one at a reasonable price.

I've never used a mirrorless before. For those that have transitioned across, how do you find using them for skating and photography more generally? Are you finding your EF lenses (for Canon users) work OK?

Spot focusing on the subject and then switching it to manual isnt doing the trick? I've been using the 5d mark iv for the last few. No complaints

I generally shoot with AF on which for skating works OK. The area where I'm having more difficulty is in bird photography where the subject is much smaller and less predictable

I had a 5D mark 2 and that focus system is just terrible, especially at night when shooting like concerts. You might see a significant upgrade from just that to the Mark IV but when it comes to focus systems, mirrorless is really the way to go. The catch of the mirrorless setup for say Canon is the RF lenses pair so much better then an EF lens with an adaptor that you have to upgrade almost all your equipment which costs a ton of money. I think for someone say shooting portraits, you can get away with adapting EF lenses but bird photography is literally one of the hardest things to do.

You can always rent a system to see if it is something you are looking for. I use https://www.borrowlenses.com/ at times and they are fine. I would even get the R6 first with the EF adaptor to see if that can do the trick.
