I'm about 195lbs with a size 13 foot. Since I first started skating boards 8" and bigger in about 2007-2008 I've been pretty much only skating those with the exception for the 70s style cruiser I have. I maxed out at 8.75" and pretty much have been riding 8.5" popsicles since ~2010 except for a shaped board every now and then that would hit maybe 8.9" or 9". About 3 months ago I won an 8" Maxallure board in a raffle and decided to skate it since I'm not that into wall hangers. I went out and got my first set of trucks under 8.25" in a long ass time for it as well as some 50mm bigheads and let me tell you, I had not had as much fun doing flatground prior to that in a long time. I really enjoyed how nimble it was, I had never been interested in doing shifty flips prior to that because I never thought of trying them with my big ass board but once I was riding that 8" I started doing them without even trying and it was super fun. I ended up cracking that board first day I skated it, and decided to go even smaller. I pulled some Streetcorner manufactured ~7.6 Ventures out of the garage that I hadn't used since elementary school, went to the local shop and got a 7.75" DGK. This thing is so fun!!! Since I got it I'll bring both my boards to the park and skate what I feel like skating at the time (my other board is an 8.5" on some loose ass Ace 44s and some 60mm NFG 95a Vees). I'm still trying to figure out what bushings work best with these trucks, as I don't like stock Venture bushings and all the aftermarket ones I've bought so far are too thick for the kingpin on these trucks, so if I want to screw the kingpin nut down close to flush I'm going to have to skate super tight trucks. I hate skating trucks when the kingpin nut isn't flush with the kingpin, I think I care more about that than the actual tightness level of my trucks but I'm having a hard time with how tight these Ventures are. I think my options right now are shave down some bushings with sandpaper to get them to turn better or just buy a different set of trucks (I've been thinking about trying those magnesium Tensors recently)
