They're really hard to find at the moment and not too wide but Doom Sayers has an 8.4 x 31.5 14wb shape that i really like. It's somewhat mellow for a bbs deck but still fairly steep so I tend to use mine more for commuting and bombing hills but it's one of the only >8.25 boards I've ever been able to somewhat consistently tre flip.

Also I'm sure it's been mentioned but Pennswood decks are almost always 14" wb. I have an 8.75 scumco logo deck that I bought because it was black and yellow and it's always weird to skate it. It's like driving a hummer body on a miata frame or something

scared that those dims might be out of production soon. saw they switched over to ps stix. dmed them asking if the dimensions would stay the same but never got an answer back

I started with the question - were the new Doomsayers wood PS or Clutch or anything confirmed, then found a whole lot of stuff, so posted in the woodshop thread here.

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=108595.msg3496768#msg3496768

Seems some PS and some "other".
I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

One shape everyone is forgetting:

DLX 8.5 w/ 14.25. Usually an Eagle, Gonz, AND price point shape

I checked the Free Dome website earlier.
The specs seem really interesting, but maybe that is a typo?

https://freedometoskate.com/collections/store/products/death-taxes

8.8 x 31.125 and 14.25 wb

which would make for a really short nose and tail I think?

Deathwish needs to quit fucking around and start offering the Foy 8.5 shape all the time. 8.5x31.75 with a 14.25 wb. It's my favorite shape. It was a skate warehouse exclusive for awhile. I must have bought 15 or more. Down to my last five or so. Going to be pretty fucking sad when they're gone.

AW has a 8.75 with a 14.25 wb. I confirmed it on their website, and went back and ordered one.

I think Geoff talks mentions this shape on his nine club stop and chat. He says that he was skating it. I think the shorter measurements are correct

Did baker stop making a short wide shape, on their board specs graph it says 8.475s have the 14.25 wheelbase but all 8.475s on their website rn are listed at a 14.5 wb. Seems like it might be a mistake I really don’t see why they’d make a shape that’s 0.025 inches smaller than a 8.5 and all the other measurements are identical.

It’s that same video you saw, he just briefly mentions that he was riding the 8.8 before his current 8.5

Also just remembered, I don’t think anyone has mentioned business and co. in this thread yet. They make an 8.5 with a 14.1 or maybe 14 flat fairly regularly

Yeah, they still make that one. Deathwish offers that size too. I've only skated a Deathwish that size, but really enjoyed it. More of those in my future for sure.

They make an 8.5x32 with 14.5 wb as well. Ours also pretty good, but I prefer the 14.25 wb.

“True” wheelbase is 14.675 (per Firebert), so these should indeed be left out of a small wheelbase discussion.

Parade’s 14.38 for the double shovel is true. Heroin wb is measured from edge to edge of mounting holes as opposed to middle of the hole so add ~.25 to get the mid-hole wb.

I wouldn’t write this is stone.. my 9.25” was accurate to the listing. Center of hole to center. Not sure if saying +.25” across the line is true.. could be different for the eggs versus the popsicles versus the bigger mutant shapes?

For sure, not tryna say applying a blanket ~0.25 every time you see a Heroin wb is the move, but it’s important to keep in mind, especially when considering a small wheelbase thread. Measuring edge to edge is easier to do so I don’t blame Fos.

What’s the consensus on sour decks? Never seen them in person but after this thread I’m liking the sound of the 8.5 specs. Are they steep or mellow? Wood quality as I know they’re jart made? Thinking of finally trying ventures out

i was interested until i saw how mellow the tails are. dont think they would work out for me but a lot of them are listed at 14.1 wb, one 8.75 in the setup thread was measured at 14.25

Interesting to hear. I am kind of leaning towards one of the primitive 8.25 or an April 8.25 that have a 14.0 wb because I really want to try 14.0 out. Would definitely prefer an 8.5 14wb but those seem way too rare.

There is a new one from Antihero, looks like a scaled down version of the Cardiel shape (egg)

8.75 x 31.5 with a 14.25 wheelbase, the Gerwer Grimplestix board.

Real also has the Mason board again, 8.28 x 31.7 with 14.12 wheelbase.

In person the Gerwer egg has really small kicks fyi. Was considering it a while back when they first had that shape out, but did not like the look and feel in hand of it. Definitely would recommend checking it out in person if possible just to make sure its what you want.

Need that Natas Mason Graphic. Interesting that it says thats the shape mason skates but on his new 9 club episode he said his has a sub 14 wb.

if by small you mean short and med/steep then count me in.

saw the interview this morning, he must be fried. said he rides a production shape, the 8.28, which has a 14.125 wb not sub 14.

maybe he was referring to his element shape cause he said in his pals questions that it was a custom 13.75

By small I meant really narrow because of taper.

And I figured he just was mistaken. He said in the interview his element board was a 13.5 wb. I do wonder what like an 8.25 with 13.75 wb would feel like though

I'm on my fourth Rudy Johnson fubk football shape .

 It definitely fits this bill at 9 x 31.75 x 13.88 wb
