Do you guys check when the board was released when you buy a board, in order to be sure that the board haven't stayed in a warehouse for too long? I was checking online sales of hardware and some board are from 3 or 4 years ago, would it be an issue for the quality of the deck?
I regularly buy cheaper sale boards, some from more than a while ago and they almost always skate just the same, no issues or differences to something that is current release. Most of these have not been sitting in sale bins in shops or incorrectly stored though.
The only issue I would say is if a board has been sitting in a shop window or stored incorrectly for a while, in which case it could warp or become too dry, but that is more so if it is out of shrink too.
Pretty much every board, still in shrink, even from ten plus years ago I have set up (and there are a few like that) have all been good with no problems.
Actually been very surprised by how old some boards are when I went back to check when they were released, especially with keeping a lot of the catalogs, such as DLX boards.
