Does anybody know if a 1/16th riser that fits venture cast plates exists? Preferably one where I can still use 7/8 bolts (dont know if thats possible)

Wheels getting a lil small messing with timing on certain tricks, but feels wasteful to retire them when they're still in the 52 range

I could have answered in the Venture thread, but being more risers and bolts, I guess it is more for anyone on any truck.

For 1/16 which is 1.5 mm, I would be making my own risers from whatever card or something is available, just cut it to size, or slightly less than the baseplate and hole punch or cut squares / rectangles for bolt holes and that would work better.

Card or cardboard might be 1 mm, as per some I have used, which should be enough to bring a truck up so that smaller wheels will still get the right pop and not cause any other issues, with board feeling soggy or sounding funny with plastic risers either.

As for bolts, if you use anything with the low nuts, like Shortys or similar, then you can easily fit those in there, but even with regular nuts, tightening any 7/8" bolts down in the board a bit will still fit on well enough, but only just.

Broadly speaking, thin risers can be made from almost anything, so my most common go to is some offcuts of rubber sheeting that I cut out, in both 1 mm and 2 mm which is perfect to fit under trucks and keep everything working well, but some people don't like rubber at all, so card, or cardboard, or even those plastic gift cards / credit cards or similar plastic card will also work, cut to size, drill holes in it for bolts and away you go.

Might not quite be a pre made and simple solution, but a number of the thin risers I have had in the past are just not readily available any more, or only available from very few shops as old stock, or like the Dooks very thin risers, they are useless and compress to nothing, so are not really worth getting anyway as risers - marketed as shock gaskets, not risers to be precise.

Indy does a 1/16 shock pad as well, which I didn't know, so only just saw them on a local shop site, which would fit under Ventures, but you would need longer bolts, or the thin nuts for sure on there.

As Scab said in the Venture thread, Ace 1/16th pads as well.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

two old gift cards are right at 1.5mm and you could cut them to fit the base plate, i just did this with some slappy trucks when i got some 60mm wheels, i don't know about the 7/8 bolts, i had longer ones  going.

Go down to a target or equivalent, grab a 1/16” thick cutting board(around $2) and trace you baseplate onto it and cut it out. You can probably get 4+ depending on the size of the cutting board.

I always like seeing pics of peoples' own creations.

Good to see and I hadn't thought of cutting boards like that, but I can see how they would work well too.

Cardboard is pretty useless as a riser, it'll just compress down a whole lot. Better use something solid. Ace 1/16 shockpads fit Venture ok.

Just got a fresh pair of skate authentics and they did away with the checkered with red banding on the heel. Anyone know if this is on all the newer skate versions of other shoes? I’m stoked they got rid of the heel shredders and hope it’s gone on the others as well.

What do you guys do with old decks? I’ve got a collection of non-sentimental broken, chipped and soggy boards that have accumulated for too long. Marketplace for free/cheap? Sometimes I keep the soggy boards in my car to give to people who break theirs on a sesh but that’s few and far between.

When I have a stack of used boards, I leave one at the park every time I visit until they are gone.

Anything that is still skateable, as said, can be passed on to others to skate, if not in person, just left at a place that others would pick them up and use them.

Any broken boards can often be used by people to make things, but I guess it depends on the area or if anyone is around locally who does make anything from old boards.

If you have a local shop, you can ask them too, as some shops collect broken boards to pass on to the more arty people out there, who can make some amazing things from them - thnk all the ply layers showing through.

anyone ever skate converse one star pros? Does it skate similar to GT Blazers?

There's always a TON of them on Union Discount for super cheap. My go-to skate shoe is the blazer (low or high) and since cons is technically nike, and they have a (somewhat) similar shape to GT blazers, I'm thinking about trying it

I made myself a bunch of shoe shelfs with mine, got a couple L brackets and bolted them to the walls and now I have a place right when you come in to put shoes, but yea other than that I  leave them at the park usually all at once with a bunch of shoes I’m over skating too, plus I feel like a badass when I bring a bunch of slightly used gear to the park and everyone goes nuts over it

I enjoyed skating in one stars and had one pair of GTs that I skated, but they didn't fit me very well so it wasn't for very long.

The first thing I noticed is how similar they felt and looked. Super comparable construction. GT sole is a smidge thicker and the Cons are pretty thin, but the boardfeel is amazing. They get that "old baseball mitt" feeling after only a few sessions.

Highly recommend gluing up the stitching below the laces
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

At first I was thinking they weren't that dark in the purple area, but on looking at some pictures, not stock images of the wheels, especially small pics, they look exactly like that, so if they were worn down some as well, that would also be my best guess.

Can anyone recommend a bucket hat that’s smaller overall, with a shorter brim? I like bucket hats but the only one I’ve been able to find that works for me is the original Helas one that Puig wore way back.

Guessing they were the Spitfire Palmer Limosine special editions, Classic Full swirls, as per this page:

Given they were sold exclusively on the Limosine site and not available anywhere else over a year and a half ago (and sold out in record time too), I would think they might be a little hard to find, but who knows - someone somewhere might have bought a bunch to keep or resell.

They were in 54 and 56 mm sizes, so which one would you prefer?

Some of the other releases have pretty cool swirls in Classic shapes which are still in stock in some places, eg search Spitfire classic swirl

what are some factors other than length and wb that affect how long a deck feels?

got a quasi 31.8 x 14 wb and it feels longer compared to the manderson shape  (32 x 14.25)

Perhaps if you are riding different trucks the wheel base will have changed.

I think pointy noses can visually appear longer as square noses. But maybe square noses can make a deck appear longer? Sometimes you get the same overall deck length but the nose and tail is either shorter or longer.
