Do you guys have any good gloves for skateboarding ? It doesn’t have to be thick at all, just for the extra cold days

Also wandering if you have a wrist protector to recommend ? I’ve hurt my left wrist and already broke it a few years go so I’d like to keep it safe

If ou're looking for a wrist guard the Ennui City Brace is the way to go.

I broke my wrist in March, been wearing one on that wrist since.
It's a little more expensive than others but the splints are aluminum not plastic. And it has a gel pad on the hands to cushion impacts.

I’ve tried a bunch of different skate/snow/derby wrist guards and always end up back with the basic 187 wrist guards. Basic design, super durable, good materials, cheap. Tbh the only problem is they only come in pairs so i have 3 unused right wrist guards in the closet.
If you see offensive comments, just let it go into one eye and let it out of the other eye, no tears and not sadness or anger.

Thanks guys ! The derby 187 seem the smallest so I’m debating this or the ennui. I had triple8 derby which are good but the plastic bit broke after too many falls. Pretty glad I’ve had it though I want to make sure I’m able to skate at least every week

Levi's 550's in Canada the quality as of late has been awful, took a look in store and all the crotches looked as if they had been pre sandblasted. The two pairs I have had this year have stretched at least one waist size in addition to the crotches going.

sad. there used to be a Levi's outlet in my town and I would get amazing pairs of jeans for like $30-40 all the time. I still have a pair left of black denim I got from there in 2014 or so and they are so dope. they jacked the price to like $80+ now and the quality not nearly the same lol. you can tell as soon as you pick them up there is NO WEIGHT TO THEM at all

Get yourselves a quality cod piece. You'll be wanting the crotch on your pants to blow out just so you can show it off

It was windy yesterday and before reading this I did think of of that, need more protection out the back maybe twin tail piece.

Does experimenting with mixing hangers and baseplates from different brands ruin your gear?  Don’t wanna wreck $100 of stuff because I had a big brain moment

Just pivot cups. It’s not like the 80s where some piv points was 45° angled. Maybe kingpin if you’re really pressing your luck. I’ve used combos that was good. Like 97? I was on destructi plates Thunder hangers. Could be wrong about the year.  Was the beez actually.
Destructo hangers went straight into the trash.
If the kingpin is pressing on the yoke hole piece then it’s not the best idea. I don’t remember the combo but we had this situation around 1988 trying toto disobey the family and build a junk bloard from homie parts.
I miss the homie Kolbi. He and his parents kept me in used gear for like a decade. When Mike passed away, his mom brought me all his stuff and I couldn’t believe it. He had the pictures of me skating and a huge amount of early early parts.
Damn I miss all the homies past

What's the best (currently available) high top shoe for ankle and impact protection? Dunk High any good? Or Telford High?

I got a pair of Nike gloves that work pretty well. They’re like a thermal nylon elastic material. Not thick but seems durable enough. I definitely would not go for some basic cotton ass gloves. The grip tape will eat through them quickly.

Do people really microwave their new shoes? Why?

I just set the laces up the way I like, maybe walk with them few times and keep old shoes with me for the first 2-3 sessions.

That's what I've understood. But does it work, and if so, why? Warming up the shoe softens the rubber compound? I mean this sounds a lot like boiling the bushings...

along those same lines yes
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I think it was more done in the basic cupsoles like old etnies, airwalks, duffs type of days when the shoes were really stiff rubber with full length egg crate construction and sometimes even have this thick cardboard under the insole. I don't think it was to permanently change the rubber compound just when they're hot you'd put them on and so a bunch of jumping jacks and shit to get the ball of the foot mushed in a bit.

My friend just gave me a screen and I got some blank decks. Excited to print his art on the boards but realized I should check.

What type of paint should I buy and are there any tips people might have in screening your own graphics? Tried the search function and didn’t find a threat apologies if one already exists though

In my experience, good aftermarket insoles make more of a difference in impact protection thank vulc vs cup.

Long shot, but I’m looking for a shape that might not exist

Basically looking for a polar surf jr but with 14.25 wheelbase and preferably the same width as a surf jr or narrower, anybody know of anything like this?

Nice that one looks fun

Tactics says front over truck is 8.25 and back is 8.5, wonder if that’s right?

Hmm could be. I had two and they seemed wider to me but I can't remember how they measured to be honest.
I do think 8.75" axles worked best on them, at least for me. 8.5"s worked well also. I had the one with wheel wells, and the wider axles lined up better with the wells. Fun shape, if you don't mind a short nose (longer nose than the Polar Surf shapes though)

Can someone help me find an 8125 - 8.38 twin football? What I was looking for don’t exist anymore. 14” wb would be nice too.

Also is pop secret good?
