the one i have says mexico and it's just one of the basic og burst decks with one colored top ply, that makes no sense why a basic team deck would be bbs and a pro model would be china.

mind you this is the same deck that skatewarehouse sold for $44 retail before any sales discounts.

Prior to 2020 they were most likely PS Stix / BBS, the move to China happened in right around or near 2020, definitely seen some Habitat decks with DSM sticker on them. 2021 - 2022 they were BBS and PS Stix, now they are using a mix of both. That's my guess anyway.

Got some Habitat twins coming in soon which are supposed to be a mix of BBS / DSM, I'll post up pics of the respective stickers when I get some time.

Edit: stocked up on 4 graphics
Frankie Spears Twin 8.38

Suciu Twin 8.38

Habitat Apex 8.38

Habitat Mosaic 8.38

All the barcode stickers had "Made in China" with the silver "Made With Premium North America Maple and Glue" sticker on the graphic.

I'm currently riding the same Suciu Wolf Twin graphic and it didn't have the silver sticker, pretty sure it came with the black and white "Made in Mexico" sticker.

Couple of other things:
- The graphic on the top ply is different too, mine came with the Habitat logo near the "tail", the newer "Made in China" one has the text logo along the side.
https://fasttimes.com.au/habitat-lone-wolf-deck-mark-suciu.html
- My BBS one had 2 dyed plys (top and bottom), the DSM one has 5 dyed plys (top, bottom, 3 in the middle)
- Shape wise they are 90% similar with a blunt nose and tail, I'd say the DSM tapered in a tiny bit more towards the nose / tail

Not too bummed on it, DSM makes some great decks.

I'll upload some pics once Imgur decides to work.

Edit: All the DSM ones have the respective logos etched on the front truck mounting holes

Even the shape is different?

Man they fuck it up bad. Would be my go to decks if they just stick to their shape. But really not interested in never knowing what I’m about to get when ordering an Alien Deck.

What brand comes the closest to thah shape? Pizza has a small nose and tail compared.

Can't really tell about the shape, but it's not drastic enough for me to write the DSM ones off. The used one I compared the new ones with is heavily skated, 3 weeks / 12-15 session in on park and street so it's not a fair comparison.

The shape is similar enough for me, I'm more concerned about the pop feel and how quick it razor tails. BBS are stiff but springy. DSM are very stiff and inflexible but do break in around 3-4 sessions in.

Does bum me out a little that they told me on DM they were using a mix of BBS / PS (pro boards) and DSM (team / logo boards), but now it seems like all the current run are entirely DSM.

Edit:
Sound wise the BBS ones sound a little more hollow and deeper, DSM higher pitched, Crailtap boards have the highest pitched. I know how a deck sounds is bro-science, but I had 1 lying around.

Both means bbs and dsm? And the shape was exactly the same?

That's how all of the ones I have seen looked here in AU, no matter which graphic they had.

I haven't seen the most recent drops of stock though.

Just realized that habitat and AWS don’t have the exact same dimensions. Wheelbase on 8“ decks is different and the length minimal shorter in habitat decks.

Even some 8“alien decks have 14“ wb and some 14.25.

I hate it.

Edit: ah damn; habitat 8“ has different dimensions sometimes also

Bought 3 AWS boards at the end of last year all BBS. I emailed them and asked lol. When in doubt just man up and dm them. They'll probably respond. Primitive cool guy'd me tho lol.

Joey Guevara Flight Instructor 8.125 x 14 x 31.5
Team OG Build x 2 same shape and dims as the Guevara board

That shape is amazing. Full nose and tail and perfect dims for me.

You can look up on both of their websites the dimensions. But it also has to do with when they dropped. Pretty much all of the older drops for Habitat and Alien 8" boards have a 14.25 wheelbase, but the new ones are almost all 14" wheelbase. I think the only 8'' 14 wheelbase for either of them in previous drops is that Suciu topographic series. They each have 1 8" with a 14.25 wheelbase in the most recent drop, but all the rest of the 8s are 14. If you look up the dimensions on each website and match them, the Habitat and Alien ones are the exact same board. Trust me I have a lot (too many) of them.

Ok, will do that. Right now I have a 14.25 wb 8“ AWS decks here that I will skate soon.

Do you prefer the 14 or 14.25 wb ones?
You think go good with low ventures?

I haven't skated one from the new drop yet since it just recently came out and I am already sitting on 7 or 8 unskated boards, but I did just skate an 8" Girl board with a 14" wheelbase. I haven't honestly noticed much of a difference between 14.25 and 14 though. Just set up a Habitat 8" 14.25 WB that I'll skate tomorrow so we'll see though. But really the difference at least to me seems negligible. I skated exclusively Venture lo 5.2 for about the last 10 years, and skated A LOT of these boards on them. It's a great fit I loved it. But I did recently switch to the Royal ultralights and I honestly like those better though. The Ventures are very stable but the turn is ...well not great. The Royals turn extremely well but are still stable and snap right back into place. It's like a whole new world I didn't know existed. I got off topic but yeah venture lo will be great with that board. If you don't know whether to get 14.25 or 14 you can get one of the old drop alien 8" 14.25 WB on Tactics for like $44 right now. They're BBS.

I have the urge to buy a Visitor or Missing Link deck in 8.5. I’ve just always loved AWS, even when I didn’t skate. There’s just something amusing about their graphics/vibe.

Does either of those decks use BBS wood?

I think the Visitor decks are from a few seasons ago so they should still BBS, not sure if the Missing Link graphics were recently restocked (China / DSM) or older (BBS). If you can check them out at a shop that would be best, if they are missing the black and white Made in Mexico sticker then I'd assume DSM.

I've had the believe (aka visitor) 8.75 many times and its always been BBS.  Have one set up right now.  Im very curious if the current Believe egg is China or BBS (or PS Stix) but that isn't clear to me from the graphics.  I suspect any "visitor" ordinary popsicle is BBS at least the ones I see on the website currently.

I have the same 8.75 and some 8.5s and all BBS for as long as I can remember (after changing from PS Stix many years ago now), but with so many things changing more recently or even certain wood for certain parts of the world, who knows now.

If in doubt, message or call the shop and ask if you can't see it in person, just to make sure.  Even if they don't know where it comes from, as others have said, just ask about the warning sticker or other markings on it.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

the montano shaped deck is for sure dsm? i got one when it first came out and assumed it was bbs. i can't remember the warning sticker, but, if it said made in china i likely would have noticed. it's gripped and unskated, i'll feel tricked if i unwittingly got a dsm board since aws has been with bbs in 'merica for a bit  >:(  ;D . my fault for taking it for granite i suppose.

bbs is for sure mexico, by "in 'merica" i meant bbs for pro boards sold in US. it seems aws may use other woodshops outside north america.

Yes BBS only has the one woodshop in Mexico, but some brands list the boards as "Made in USA" anyway, even though they are not.

Re AWS / Habitat boards from China, yes people have said some specific boards are made in China, or more so boards to EU or Asia might be from a distributor that gets wood from China, not through AWS in USA via Mexico.  It does get a bit confusing, but some people have had a bit more info they have added to the Woodshop thread in the last page or two.

so does bbs use two different stickers?

Yes there are at least the two stickers, mainly either the black / white or the red / white with about the same font, but I have seen another one with a different font on some brand boards - just can't remember which brand now but I thought that was interesting.

I think the BBS ones would be way closer to the Alien shapes.  Someone in the GX1000 thread compared PS and BBS with pics, and the BBS was way more square.

Now the new alien trasher 8.0 again has different measurements. Why are they doing this??!!

Won’t buy it anyway. 90 euros for a deck is just not it.

Does anybody know how often Habitat/AWS change their shapes? I just started skating the 8.4 Mercy shape and it feels perfect. However, there was only one deck in this shape in the current Habitat drop (the Marius Syvanen one I have right now) and two for AWS. I would love to stick to this shape but wasn't sure if they'd keep making it? I saw another Syvanen deck from one of the last drops that had another shape (I think it was a 8.25).

For what it's worth, the deck I got in Europe had the Made in Mexico sticker on it!

They keep their most popular shapes (8.0 / 8.125 / 8.25 / 8.38 / 8.5 / 8.75) pretty consistent, except for the 8.25 and 8.4 which appear specific to the rider (8.25 AG - Austyn Gillette, 8.4 Mercy - Marius).

They list the shape and dimensions on their website which is really helpful. The 8.4 looks like a 1 off shape, Alien Workshop has a couple of 8.4 shapes that use the same 8.4 Mercy mold, so I'd hunt those down if you really liked that shape.

I'm really curious to know if they measured the 32.75 flat on the board or tip to tip, 32.75 is really long for anything under 8.5.

Thank you for the insight! Will probably stock up on some of the 8.4 decks then. Personally not a massive fan of the artworks, but the shape feels really good right now.

I just measured mine and it is 32.75 flat on the board and something like 32.4 tip to tip. I really like the longer kicks compared to other full shape decks (thanks again for the input on this in my previous thread!).

Ugh I hate when they aren't consistent with length measurements, understandable for Austyn Gillette's shape since they use PS Stix but it would help if they listed them accurately or at least said whether it was taken tip to tip or flat across.
