Hulkripps?
What woodshop?

Never even heard of it before, but I had a look and seems like there is no info out there, at least not on the site, although it does have measurements which is nice.

I bought some blanks woodchuck which I've always been convinced used BBS. I've asked them, and they've always avoided the answer. I used them for my board brand and Loved them.

I am taking a wild guess, but as they don't look at all like BBS dots or concave, they look more like a few woodshops from China, which would make sense, especially with them avoiding the question of "Where do your boards come from?" when asked.

Woodshops in China are really making good boards now too, so it is not a bad thing to me.  Some people are still not keen on wood from elsewhere besides USA (or Mexico) purely because of geography I imagine, but if they skate well and work for you, then I can't see any issues.

A lot of woodshops are adopting the cost cutting by just having a single top and bottom stain, some only one, but they always look a lot nicer than plain / natural stains on all layers of ply.

* To note, I prefer very specific concaves, so am used to one woodshop in particular, but that doesn't mean that other woodshops are not as good, or not better than the woodshop I prefer.  Friends have boards from other woodshops with "Made in China" stickers and they hold up well and are perfect for their needs so whatever the woodshop is for that supply line, I think it is not the end of the world not knowing exactly where they are from.

They definitely advertise as made in mexico. I don’t think they’re Chinese boards.

Might be other woodshops in Mexico now so the list could do with an update if anyone had any other info, apart from the known three BBS, PS Stix and Clutch.

Usually BBS (different concave and dimple dot), PS Stix wtih serial numbers on all their boards, or even Clutch without their letter / number board stamps if they were specifically saying "Made in Mexico" but as per every request for any more info, it is unanswered, compared to every other question people ask, from looking at their more recent posts.

They were based in Canada when they first started too, everything there including woodshop, presses, etc.

Looking back through their older posts, the last time they posted anything about actually pressing boards was back in June 2020, then a post with molds for sale.  Could be that they moved to importing blanks over pressing their own boards, but either way it is not a worry to me.

Looking through all available info and I am still no closer to knowing anything more, but any which way, they don't seem to be making their own boards on a large scale like they used to, but do buy in a lot of boards ready for printing or selling as blanks, which is all that matters.

I think the best way to compare is standing on them / putting them together with known woodshops, to compared concave and see, but a Death board I stood on not too long ago was definitely something else, not a known concave from any of the other woodshops in both look and feel.

Always curious to know or hear more though, so thanks for the pics and info.

* Didn't ever mean to sound like I was being a pain either - just curious as to what woodshop(s) are providing the wood.

I just ordered a hopps and a traffic deck from Mantis online shop. Turns out mantis/mdcn basically just prints the logos of these brands on their own cheap China wood. The decks were a different shape than the actual American models, too. I fuckin hate mdcn wood. It Feels bad, and doesn’t last long. I don’t know if this means all European hopps and traffic decks are mdcn or mdcn just has a license to make these cheap “counterfit“ decks for the German market.

not in all europe, the guys at Playwood in Italy still having Generator decks
yes i don't like the mdcn wood too

Shape and concave look like it is a Zero board.
Edit: Does anyone know if OSM presses their own decks or are they imported?

I don't know from just OSM so can you give a little more detail, eg where in the world, even just continent, along with is it a brand, a shop, a distro, etc?

I tried looking but nothing really came up that I thought was relevant enough, but it was probably right there all along and I just didn't see it.

OSM is olive skateboard manufacturing, based just outside of edmonton alberta.
he makes all his own boards, in canada. he had to rebuild his factory after a fire he had a few years ago.
theyve been making skate and snowboards forever, they end up being pretty heavy and thick.
https://www.oliveskateboards.com/
randy the owner is pretty chill, does his own thing and makes what he wants, not really catering to industry standards.
but truthfully most people find the boards too clunky.

Olive now rings a bell - following their account on instagram, so I think someone somewhere mentioned it.

Pylon commented on their last post, so I guess they get boards from there?

Sorry if already mentioned, but I am a bit out of it right now - late night work, early morning start, etc.

I'm trying to break free from BBS and PS Stix right now; I want to try something different for the sake of trying something different. I've tried Dwindle and Clutch boards in the past and had mixed feelings on both. Anyone have opinions on South Central? I've been eyeing a couple Bacon boards, but before I order I'm curious what they're like. Shape, durability, etc. Also looking at HLC decks. I've searched the forum for discussions on both, but figured I'd ask here since a lot of the threads on these woodshops are ancient.

HLC boards tend to be a little heavier than BBS but nothing too dramatic. I had several and never had a problem.

Also noses on HLC tend to be a little smaller than tour usual BBS. Again, nothing too serious. Is a great alternative if you want to switch your usual board manufacturer.

Depends on where you at I would say. Bought a toy board (bury the hatched graphic) because it’s advertised as a twin on the toy website but in Europe it’s a standard popsicle made in china.

The only Toy Machine boards I have seen here in AU are also on the China wood, but the pro boards are said to be PS Stix, at least they look like that in USA, from places like Skate Warehouse that show top pics of those boards.  A couple look like BBS but then a couple don't have any sticker / markings on top, which I usually associate with China wood.

PS Stix has the sticker up above the front bolts, with laser engraving, BBS has sticker in the middle of front bolts, just for reference there.

Just checked Tactics too, for another point of reference.  I didn't check every board, but almost all I checked were PS Stix, one BBS, a couple no tops, so I am guessing they are pretty much all that now at least.

@moonordie I would say check some of the shops that have pics of tops in EU or as close to you as you can, otherwise, as @mrosk8 said, you might be very disappointed - honestly I wouldn't want any of those China made boards I had seen - just weird shapes and sizes and very average quality.

The last toy machine I had was USA made. Screen Printed. came with a large sticker too! about as wide as the board

I thought it may have been South Central because of the weird bevel of the rails

I've skated both South Central and HLC.  I mostly agree with what others have said about HLC, but will add that their concave and kicks are very mellow if you are into that (at least the Roger and Sour shapes I skated).  South Central decks are thicker, heavier, and stiffer than BBS.  The South Central concave and kicks are usually pretty steep.  Good overall value and durability with both manufacturers; I would gladly skate either before grabbing a Clutch deck or even PS Stix.

That board looks like a really good shape too!

Was that from this year, last year or longer?

I think of any bigger brand, Toy Machine has been one of the most inconsistent with random / irregular woodshop changes, seemingly whatever they could get to fulfil order numbers, more than keeping things of a level quality of product.

It would be good to have some better boards out there, not just in USA, but I really don't know what is going on there, hard times, changes in distribution, etc.

Thanks for posting that one though - I recall our old friend who I haven't seen in a while posting about all the different wood options with Toy from when he would buy them there in USA too, so it is good to have some more info there.

I've given up on Toy but Watson?  If it's still even around?  It used to be....

The rule of thumb with Toy is the shittier the graphic, the better the board is ie. pro boards.....

I still think classic toy graphics on BBS would be a poorman's eagle....
