Was just wondering whom I would like to see rip on a polarizer (besides the ususal suspects). First thought: Chris Pfanner. Also: Chris Miller.

I’ve always hoped Neil would give Gonz a pro model and they’d do a video together.

Miller would be sick.

I’m sure something is in the works, I liked the style sk8mafia released the small board video that would be fun.  They set a pretty high bar with that haha. TNT would be tight.

Doesn't Alex Olson make fins these days? (or it was one of his brief flirtations). He could knock a few 917 fibreglass decks like that Hydrophile.

Recommended by Shur_grip on insta i’m testing super soft Riptide APS bottom barrels bushing with harder top powerdyne yellow cones for stability. For a year been riding a mix of Powerdyne, Bont and Bones bushings.
The 65A Riptide is so good and surfy I’m amazed!!!! Do other here have been experimenting with Riptide rubber!?
On a side note i have an Instagram polarizer account for a laugh, check it out!

That super sick that riptide makes bushings to fit, I used to ride them exclusively in my ventures, great product, I’ve also figured out how to keep my original polarizer in use, I keep it at the warehouse I work at and zip around on that all day so I don’t have to walk, plus there’s a couple buddies I work with that also skate and they use it from time to time, a lot of fun, keep the fiber rider at the house and the polarizer in the warehouse, that seems to be the way

Riptide make the best aftermarket bushings and pivots IMO! I replace all my bushings and pivots with their gear. Brad has been really accomodating and has made bushings for me that match stock dimensions when their listed sizes do not match.
The APS formula is insanely bouncy and responsive. I have used it in longboard and surfskate trucks. I have a notion that Lurpiv are using the 90A formula in their bushings. The "KranK" formula works well for me in traditional kingpin trucks - I use the 90A green bushings in Ace and Indy. It has the most rebound of their formulas and is very adjustable - the urethane gets harder as pressure is applied through the kingpin nut.

Good luck with the RipTides. Make sure you match stock dimenions. I wonder if they have made a pivot mold for the Heated Wheel trucks yet..

I contacted them about HW pivot cups, asking if they would consider producing some for HW, they said they would look into it!
Then some time later replied this to me:

« We likely will not make replacements since it appears to be a very low volume requirement, sorry. »

i’ve been using the purple bont 78a bushings in two set ups and been likening them. top cone, bottom barrel.

have some of their 83a’s coming to try the tops from, so 83 top cone and 78 bottom barrel.

those two sets of trucks came with flat top washers, hadn’t seen that from HW before.

bet riptides would be fun!

Just found some Chicago skates on the side of the road, anyone know offhand if these trucks could be hacked off and used for a polarizer? Any insight would be appreciated!

The pivot cup on these are metal on metal, but they could work with some new bushings and work, first is getting the plate off the boot, then you have to drill out the rivets keeping the trucks attached to the plate, there have a weird three rivet/bolt pattern but the lower hole is centered so its actually easier to line up on the middle of your board, the turn was lacking for me but they were a fun experiment to try out, I’m back on sure grips with my original polarizer, and HW on my fiber rider

Yes, the metal pivots can't be that good, I would assume. The earliest skateboards in 1974, 1975, when the urethane wheel came out, often used Chicago trucks, so they've been used, but there are better options. The skates look in good, saleable condition.

Ah gutted. I guess they need to make the mold and beta test it which is an investment. Shame though - would've been great!

That’s rad and you definitely went well beyond what most would do, so congrats. BTW, just caught a few glimpses of your shop so I can see you do some sort of fab work but is it AC, auto, bikes, art, or something else?

Thanks, I messed up the trucks from the get go so I had to go all in haha

I work in a sheet metal shop, we build HVAC ductwork and fittings etc. On the side we build boat trailer fenders, flat track racing frames, gas tanks and all sorts of other stuff. What do you do?

Blob the bank is in Southern California, not sure where you're at but I can pm the location.
