Yeah, Ben seems pissed for most of the interview. Cutting his hand while picking up the boards that Paul knocked over (and didn't help, just continued to camera) was the icing on the cake. Interesting vid though.

It's probably just a little bit awkward more than having a problem with prof. It's different to his regular videos with the amount of stuff he would have to cover in a short time. Have to film every step of the process and get b roll and basically do an interview it would be annoying. Plus have you ever been on a job and know you have to ask some guy like ten different things and instead of just answering they give you a full anecdote for each response pretty sure that's the face you make in that situation

This is a case of where people hate thing A but thing B is objectively the same just their specific weird variant of thing A but they create an artificial distinction because they don't want to admit it to themselves.

Do you think it could possibly be that thing A and thing B are very different and they just use the same medium (YouTube) to deliver their content? Based on your argument here, thing A (Max Palmer) and thing B (Nyjah) are objectively the same (traditionally sponsored pro skaters skating for smaller board brands, putting out video parts etc.) and people are artificially making distinctions between the two that don’t exist

I would love to see a Nyjah/Max shared part. That has potentially to be mind bendingly bizarre.

Mostly it's in the details. They skate very different shit so I'd say they're much further apart than skate YouTubers who mostly skate skateparks and a few street spots, are close enough in ability level, and sometimes pepper in reviews.

No hate on Schmitt, he reminds me of every 60+ year old I've met who've dedicated their lives to 1 job / trade / industry / hobby - they know every minute detail and all the shitty jokes and anecdotes, rehearsed countless times with unwilling new hires and during company mandated picnics.

The vibe was way off for sure.  It's pretty bad when you can see the irritation in Ben who seems like the most mellow guy in the world.

If I was Ben, I would have asked about the advantages of making boards that are square as fuck with shoddy craftmanship. Schmidt can talk all the science he wants, the inconsistency of PS Stix manufacturing nowadays is nothing to be proud of
