Smiling before, durring, or after a trick
« on: August 11, 2009, 10:35:47 PM »
Don't flog me, I'm already dually aware of what a dumb topic this is, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I can't say it really annoys me that people skating at an amateur or professional level are stoked to be out there doing it, but for a while now I've noticed the phenomenon which is the captured sometimes teeth-bearing smile before, during and/or after tricks.

Opinions on this? Fav's? Least fav's?

I really like the one Cairo does right before the nollie flip in Bonus Round.

But this thread was definitely made for Ray Barbee.

yeah man

one of the most recent displays of this that comes to mind is Matt Miller right before he does a hardflip wallride in that tws video

of all tricks, how could you approach that with anything but a determined scowl?

Stefan Janoski always just looks so happy. I like people that skate with a smile it just shows how much fun they're having.

Briden's barbee reference reminded me of that line in Can't Stop with the fs nosegrind pop-out revert to big ear to ear grin. Can't say I didn't get stoked thinking about it.

If you are having fun then you are doing it wrong.

Personally, I like to cry through most sessions.
i saw my grandma bail off a 4 set once in my house and she even got up and came to red lobster after.

I like it when photos look really gnarly.
I want the skater to be covered in dirt, maybe some blood, a sweat soaked shirt, teeth bared, risk element...
