is it the bumper/panel holding the bumper that's making the shoe look kind of stubby?

i like 'em regardless tho

I'm of the same mind, but I think removing it makes them look a little too dunk-ish, or even some DC shoe vibes. I'm not saying my mockup looks better but simply cutting back the heel support makes it less clunky. I'm surethis is one of those situations were in real life, you don't even notice

Seeing more footage, and on foot product shots will probably sell it better.

Edit: actually just changing that heel panel to be a different color also completely stops the shoe from stubby. Again. It's probably just one of those things that looks weird in the stock photo, but not IRL. Also isn't sample size like an 8 or 9? already a stubby shoe.

the only thing worse than these

are the people who would buy them
[close]

It’s always the old head that salty about everything that refer to sneaker cushioning as “puff”. I wish the worst on those people.
[close]

Does E's just have absolutely no faith in their current riders to give any of them, even if it's just one of their current pros, their own actual shoe, to invest in their current talent vs. paying to bring something back that hasnt been 1:1 for quite some time (leading to the flops), and keep sinking further into the "nostalgia" money pit they have made for themselves? Does not one of the remaining skaters at E's not deserve their own shoe?

Ive seen some skaters whom were on E's now wearing Asics and a few other brands at this point and i havent checked the site to see if they still have a team anymore, but this is just my $0.02.

It’s “not fair” but the business is riding the nostalgia wave, and like it not, it’s the old heads that (mostly) have my spare money to burn…

If Em and Ess are paying their riders decently, then I say it’s better that Sole Tech stays in business and gives the current riders shoes and money.

Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

idk if it’s the photo but that sole looks thick

Not gonna lie, these look bad. 90s nostalgia Pinterest inspo board looking shoes. Hopefully Alexis, with her design acumen, wasn't effectively steamrolled by corporate designers going after a trend.

We gotta put a stop to contrast stitching as well. It just highlights how bad the stiching job is on the shoes you're mass producing.

the shoe is probably fine without the contrast stitching highlighting the very weird paneling lines. these are what give off  the vibe that this is some sort of fake shoe. i feel like the paneling was done this way to differentiate it more from jordans and dunks, but it comes off as random and messy. the back panel going this long and straight to the front, as well as the panel on the fairst pair of laceholes make no sense to me and throw me off. the second mentioned panel looks like an accident with a linedragging tool. i can't really see any cons model in there from where i could recognize those lines to put in the context of the overall design language of cons. kind of looks like a department store rip-off of some random dunkesque basketball shoe design with converse branding. that said they look fairly comfy and like they would work well for people who like dunks and such. with tone in tone stitching and monotone colorways they would probably still look decent. like an all black or white colorway.

i wish those paneling lines were more to my taste, i want to like this shoe and it looked rad in the preview footage. i just have terrible ocd with this shit. if i see something that looks wrong to me, i can't unsee it.

if my local gets these in a decent colorway and i could get them on sale i would still try them out i guess.

I'm not that mad at Alexis' shoe...isn't it similar to a pre-existing Converse shoe, like a weapon or something?  It seems like up the same alley as a fast break which people seem to be into.

Yes.
It's a little weird people have been saying 00s and 90s nostalgia when it's clearly just an 80s basketball shoe. Everyone can just google 80s converse basketball (which will include multiple versions of fastbreaks and weapons too) and see where they got the inspo and cut into a low. There's even models with little stripes and squares in the Ollie area

i made up this, which i would have preferred, even if it looks way more derivative.

sorry for my own wonky parkinson lines, i did this quickly with the mouse, but you get the idea. pretty much an af-1 by cons. which is where we come around on the naming scheme again.

shoe is still okay, just overdesigned imo for the sake of being a little different to the models it was inspired by.

I am quite curious to know who is behind the brand.  They don't look bad at all but the market is already too saturated.

Same thoughts. This is decent shoe design. But what was the last shoe brand that stuck? Cariuma and straye? They both carved out ther’re own little niche. A General skate shoe brand is hard

But I wish them the best of luck

If opus maintains that $65 price point, then we may have something. Black mids kind of look like the emerica hsu. That’s not a bad thing

they don't look that good at all either, pretty milquetoast shoe - but if they are going for price point shoe, then mission accomplished

fwiw there are only two people showing up related to opus from a cursory search, the post below and someone who only has the account tagged in their bio, so i'm not going to link it but if you search it pops up

This brand is guaranteed to have no brand. The only story Opus will have is the "Our Story" page of their Squarespace website that has a black and white photo of a middle-aged founder pandering over way too many paragraphs about how cool skateboarding is because of its I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude—"the same attitude we're bringing to you through our no-frills, no bullshit, skate shoes."

I saw some of those Opus models a while back at the local. If I remember correctly there is an old Soletech designer involved but don't quote me on that. They certainly did look Emerica-ish.
Prices look interesting, affordable angle? Maybe it's just around where I live, but the hundred dollar Last Resort models don't seem to be moving like they used to.

Yeah, it's a bit of a different shade, but I thought the green was a celtics connect.  It seems like converse is just pulling stuff from the basketball line and they've gotten to CONS, I see a Larry Bird shoe when I look at this thing.  Adidas just did the same with forums..... like it or not...the shoe is pretty on trend....pretty consistent to their program and I ok with it. Lately I've seen some guys skating in fast breaks and I think they look great.

Yikes that website is a disaster. Shoes pointing left, shoes pointing right. Shoes centered to different sizes in the photos. But absoloutely worst of all, showing the arch side of the shoe as display. As someone who manages a skateshop's online store this is driving me nuts. That white shoe there isn't even any other angles of the shoe!!!

Also yeah, pointless brand. Bringing nothing to the table. Maybe more pointless than HRS and that's saying a lot.

I wouldn't call them pointless if they're offering a decent shoe for cheaper than the other brands. People are wearing through the soles of $100 Last Resorts in a few weeks. Vans want $95 for shitty vulcs.  Emerica is charging the same for the same shit they've been making for a decade. If these last remotely as long they could be a better Straye without flames on the sides.

We can't complain about shit being expensive and bad quality when someone is coming in and trying to do it cheaper. If their marketing doesn't become a bad Cariuma then it's no skin off any of our backs even if the designs are boring.
