They are cupsole slip-ons with an UltimateWaffle outsole (introduced on the AVE pro).

I think they are awesome. I've never wanted a slip on but now I do.

I do agree that the elastic strap should have been black. Easy DIY fix.

FWIW the description on SPoT seemed to call them surf shoes. I stand behind my earlier statement that Vans is specifically trolling this thread. I'm jealous of those slippers tho

They're pretty perfect, just enough of a sole and warmth for walking the dog before bed.

Looks like they still make them they have a colorway on the vans site

I know nothing about surfing. They look very skatable. Is there anything about them that would keep one from happily skating in them?

-Rapidweld upper
-Ultracush midsole
-UltimateWaffle outsole

Seems pretty skatable to me unless this ultracush midsole is the issue. My Ultrarange Pro 2's have an Ultracush Lite midsole. Not sure if a different midsole formula was used for this performance skate shoe than this... surf shoe?

Or maybe the outsole formula is not designed for griptape?

I tried to find them in stock a few years back when I saw them on IG and they were already gone. My timing was probably just of and they drop them before the cold months. I'm gonna try to cop for the next pair of slippers I get. My current pair are on their last legs anyway.

They look skateable to me too. Vans has been making pro line shoes and then kinda soft pedaling whether or not they are made for skate lately so I thought I'd put it out there. It's basically if a slip-on fucked an AVE so I can't see how they wouldn't skate well.

Just saw those EXP pro slips again at my local in the khaki color. I'd def try the triple black pair, kinda wish they had a gum outsole though to break it up. "waffle control" i can't keep up with all this vans tech

Yeah those are explicitly not skate shoes according to Vans. The slip on exp pro is the closest skate model. Has the same sole as the Berle, WaffleControl.

I could do the triple black.

it’s the same as the ave shoes. Insole cut in half, one half in shoe the rest in the sole. That’s why they look blue on the bottoms.
