Wonder if they’ll ever release these for the AF1 Lows

Had my first session on them today. There's still PLENTY of turn. I was probably running them a little loose but I want to give the bushings a chance to break in.

I can't say there's a noticeable difference from before the swap, they're definitely still Aces.
If you see offensive comments, just let it go into one eye and let it out of the other eye, no tears and not sadness or anger.

I figured they'd be basically the same but I thought others had mentioned the new top bushing makes them pinch better. My longtime Ace friend just got a set and doesn't notice any difference, but never had any pinch issues himself so it's not like he would know.

Given that I never loved Ace this will save me some money but I do enjoy their attention to detail and finishing.

Has anyone tried them with Classic hangers? Conflicting info about whether they’re truely compatible online.

The Ace rep online reckons it can be done but is not recommended..

They don’t make 33’s inverted? Of course I could just buy the baseplates, but I’d like fresh hangers too

Got a set of baseplates. Just had a session with them. Turn feels the same as always. Felt even better than with my previous setup but I went down in truck size and changed almost everything else as well so I can’t compare 1:1. Grind clearance is huge. I was grinding on kingpins one 50-50s on my previous setup. Not much of a difference really with grinding only the hanger except no nasty screeching sounds every now and then. Could also go nicer over gaps in curbs I guess but overall no noticeable performance improvements for me so far at least. Of course it’s nicer that you can grind down further and still adjust your trucks.

I've had a few sessions on the IKP baseplates, and I feel like they're very similar if not the same as the standard kingpin with regards to turn and feel. I did crank down the bushings instead of breaking them in slowly so I'm sure I'll regret that sooner than later, but they feel spot-on for me at the moment. After reading through some of this thread, however, I'm considering swapping out the front baseplate for a standard kingpin and saving the other IKP for a future set-up; never crossed my mind when I bought them.

They do 22 to 55 but I’ve only seen 44s and 55s in shops. The 22s and 33s are available if bought directly from Mesa Distribution.

Hollow hangers on mesa supply now for anyone interested. Just ordered a set of 66's to go with the new inverted baseplates.

I've had the same pair of ace trucks for well over a year, maybe even 2 and i fuckin love them. they're minimal, after skating with these for so long, when i look at someone else's trucks they look wayyy to big to me. they got the most fantastic crooked grind groove ever too, BUT, the pivot cup is all fucked up, i tried taking them apart and replacing the pivot cup but they put something in there so it won't come out. i tried pliers to no avail and even tried to burn it out but the fumes and the fact that it might not work were freaking me out so i just put it back on all mangled. as of now it rides fine i guess but it turns to one side so bad.

so, too long, but is there any way to get those fucking pivot cups out? i guess my second concern is that i do finally get it out and the new one i have doesn't fit in right. but i really don't want to buy new trucks. what's the word?

I should’ve went with ace the thunder trucks I have are junk. The bushing were so soft I couldn’t tighten them any further. Bought their hard bushings and they’re junk too. I think I’ll try ace next so replying if I need to get the pivot cup out. Just from experience try spraying some pb blaster around it let it sit take some needle nose pliers and pull bet it’ll come out. Good luck.

^^ RE: 'zero point' since you took them apart, put them back together and A) count clicks until the slack is gone and B) count clicks per truck until you find the sweet spot? (for ref I just counted threads when they were stock before I put them on).

From Dad Board review video - best way to find the 'zero point' is to detach the trucks from board and look inside through bottom of baseplate. Easy to tighten the kingpin head to flush with the boardside end of the sleeve, hence having both trucks initially same tightness.

I'm back from a social media detox to report the IKP Ace are fucking great.

I'm on Hollow 60 hangars and hard bushings.

I think the turn is slightly mellowed by the smaller top bushing but only marginally. This actually works in my favor for flatground.... could just be perception.

Ironically, my smithgrinds have gone to shit. Perhaps I needed a gnarled exposed kingpin after all.... but this is likely due to other reason...

Anyway, these trucks might just stop be wating time with T II drool...

To any of the Euro guys: Titus has the inverted hollows now available. Other shops probably will have them soon, too.

I love them also. I can see myself continuing to set up Classic 55s as long as they make them but its pretty rad to tech out on the AF1 inverted hollows also. Hope they do some wider hangers with the new design at some point.

Is there any info when the re-tooled classics are coming out?
Also interested in T2s but I want them 9" axles.

classics have already been updated a little bit in the pivot cavity I posted a few pages back on a new set I had. with "ace" also underneath the baseplates instead of "diamond mfg". is there some other rumor they're going to do more to the classics or something?

Rode the IKPs stock for two sessions to let the bushings do their thing, third session, one tighter click each and they're right as rain.

With already worn in hard bottom bushings it took one Foundation episode worth of on and off carpet wiggling and all was good. Had to take them apart once to lube the pivot cups, squeaking was too loud for me. First skate session felt great, did not notice any change in the turn. These seem like a keeper.

First 90mins on inverted kp 55s. Absolutely happy with them. Really great.
And if anyone has an old GK tool lying around: it works for the Ace kingpin, too.

Never lurked here. First time poster. Doing some experimenting with ace inverted after-market bushings in thunder trucks.

What’s the break-in behavior of ace bushings? Do they get softer or harder over time? Stay the same as new?
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.
