I just use an electric palm sander (but kinda need to get another one cause mine keeps letting the paper slip)
I start with 80 grit and then finish with 200 or higher

Here's my first endeavor at hand making a board, started from blank uncut wood. It was a great experience, hope to get better in the future. Yip Man Graphic on a vintage Jason Lee Blind shape, looking forward to skating it.

posted these awhile back, but I didn't really have my shit together. I've been screening tshirts in my basement for awhile now, and I just set up a little webstore to clear some stuff out to fund my next project. I usually don't like whoring myself out like this, but if nothing else I hope you like the photo of my friend who rips. anything helps, id even appreciate a like on the facebook page

So the Chapman boards Orchard is having me work on for them finally showed up a few days back
Got to work right away and cranked 'em all (25) out in about a week, just a few small touches to go and they'll be sent back.
They're this weird kinda cruiser shape, I didn't like it when i first saw it but its growing on me...
Pretty happy with how they turned out though. Glad I was able to make them each unique while also following a theme.

I had them pay me in more blanks (25 more normal shaped, 8.25's and 8.5's) instead of just cash, so I can work more and potentially make more money than I would have if they just paid me out.

Anyways, follow my instagram if you aren't already, I post everything I make there

God damn sweatercuff, I have to jump in on this praise circlejerk. Your work is awesome! Your instagram is definitely one of my favorites. That's sick that they were down to pay you in blanks, too! Super jealous of everything going on in here, I need to sand down a board and do some doodles again.
Look I'm not selling anything that doesn't have my jizz on it. I don't care how much is offered.

Board that I carved "Lovely Rita" into, by hand and with a knife.  I freehanded the whole thing so it is a little jenky.  My girl liked it a lot though so it made a good valentines day gift

sorry for the shitty photo

Worked with my friend last fall at building a DIY press to make our own decks. We used maple veneer from a local supplier that are pre-cut for skateboard size. Took a lot of work and a few attempts but we got one good board out of it so far. Gonna press another one this spring and I'll cut out a different shape. Nice, mellow concave. The plies are a bit thick, so I want to try to get a thinner combination for the next batch.

I cut down an old deck to make a cruiser last summer...redrilled the front truck holes to make a smaller wheelbase and gripped it with cheap Ikea welcome mats. I painted and drew the graphic in November (metallic gold acrylic and sharpie), and now it's just chilling in my apartment. I'm in two minds whether I should set it up, or hang it and just cut another one to the same shape/dimensions and not make so much effort with the graphic next time!

you really just have to ask yourself why you put it on a skateboard in the first place.

Very good point. Mostly because I love seeing crispy unblemished artwork on a deck, but on the flipside of that I love how it starts to become scuffed and beat-up as you skate it...plus it's rad to show a graphic off by actually taking it outside where it's going to be seen.

Fuck it, I will be setting it up with some skinny trucks and cruiser wheels when Spring fully hits...

Not to be a dick (ha) but I think that shape looks like a penis.
