Very nice! What type of clear coat/varnish do you all use? I'm looking to brush it on vs out of a spray.

Finally started this frame series of boards, psyched on how they came out and the concept of each being a collaboration between me and the customer after they fill it in.
Gonna relaunch the Ideal Handmades site in a month, and this series will be a side-runner to all the other boards I make there

Those look amazing, I love them. Nice work man. I've always wanted to make my own board graphics but I've never had the time.

Practicing acetone transfers on an old board. The photo is from the library of congress flickr account, which is pretty awesome.

My buddy Scotty filled out a frame board

and then I made a couple more (they didn't turn out so hot so I might do something else with'em)

and then did this woodburning

very nice woodburning. do you draw it on the board before burning or do you freehand?

I draw a basic outline first, but free hand the detail in after, usually with some reference photos to work off of.

I hear what you're saying. Artistically, I'm not very creative, but I love doing projects and working with wood and paint. You can't tell from the pics, but I actually reshape all of my boards to have a more tapered nose and tail, like old Girl boards. I route them, sand them, lacquer them and spray them. I'm gonna try to do more with graphics someday, but right now, I'm just having fun playing around with them and then skating the crap out of them.

Well, I can't argue with that sentiment.

Did this for a friend of mine. I intended him to skate it, but he says he wants to hang it up.
All done with rattlecan.

Reshaped and acetone transferred.  I'm thinking of making wooden rails for it.

Fanks!  Do you know if I spray it with clear coat?  I am worried the ink will bleed or do something strange.

Grab Krylon Crystal Clear. Its the best. Rusto clear covers tend to make non-rusto paints react I've found. Got some crazy cracking and peeling a few times now. So eff Rusto. Besides, you can't change tips on them anyway.

I know they're on trend right now but isn't the whole point of rails that they are not wood?

Yeah but think of how interesting they'd look especially if they're the same stain as the deck
