My wife and I have been binging The Midnight Gospel tonight. It’s been a fucking trip listening to how the dialogue is podcast oriented, but it goes along with the animation as well.

I saw the first episode of ‘The Handmaids Tale’ and it was pretty heavy.

Started watching Fauda on Netflix. It’s alright. I, self admittedly, have a thing for shows that involve terrorism of any kind.

If you haven't already, check out Bodyguard. It's on Netflix.

I super let down by midsommar. It gets an A+ for absurdity, but I dont how anyone would call it a good movie.

Took a few episodes but I finally got into Mindhunter, starting season 2 now.

Mindhunter was pretty good!

I am finally watching The Wire and finishing Oz. Waiting for that Justin Roiland show on Hulu to drop.

Has anyone watched the new "Explained (Corona Virus)?" It's so intense and it really made me think of the gravity of what we are all going through. I was halfway through the episode in and started sobbing. I love you guys so much. I am very sensitive.
Granted, I'm stoned but still.

Bad Education on HBO was decent. Not that into Hugh Jackman's general Entertainer Man™ vibes but the guy sure can act.

I burnt through that pretty fast and was a massive fan, I get what you mean with the Dexter vibes too and was a big fan of that show as well....although Dexter had more pure reasons for doing what he did than this Joe guy haha

My girlfriend went through what the last episode deals with less than a year ago. It was such a beautiful bonding experience watching that last episode together. Not a dry eye in this shitty apartment.

I checked Extraction out. It’s an action movie... I have nothing else to say about that.

If you’re looking for a very topical show to kill time, I recommend Grounded For life. It gets my through things like doing the dishes and I chuckle every now and then.

I’m starting to feel really old.

I was dying laughing at the episode when he pee'd in the Jar...Good show definitely like how they spin the overarching story, just started season 2

That last episode had me reconsidering my entire relationship with my mother; we've never had a good relationship bc neither of us have had a real understanding of one another and how our emotions work.
Started watching it again last night to take it in episode by episode instead of binge watching it like last time.

me too, but here i am about a week and a half after i watched it and i feel like i need to watch it again to find all he subtle hidden stuff i missed first tme round. (theres videos on youtube about this that piqued my interest)

youre right about the absurdity, its mental, but so is the directors first movie heriditary which tbh i hated, theres such a good build of tension and dread throught the first 2/3s then in the last act its like he gave up and went 'fuck it lets get stupid'

at least Midsommar felt like one movie from the title card to the credits

That movie "71" looked like it was going to be good, but once the action started, I could not bare sitting through that shaky camera shit. That camera movement was so over-the-top.

The Toys That Made Us.

Documentaries about kids toys.

I particularly enjoyed the episodes on wrestling figures and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I really focused on the scissors going under the kid's pillow.
Then forgot about it.
Then had to think about where it could've gone.

i think both Hereditary and Midsommer were great.  The best contemporary horror films in quite a while.  I went into both after losing close family members, and they each film handled the topic of grief (in very different ways) really hit me.  Ari Aster has got a great future in film and I can't wait to see what he does next.

Speaking of sound design, the documentary Apollo 11 is on Hulu. I’m kicking myself now for not watching that on Imax.

The 70mm footage looks unreal.

Also finally getting around to the Fargo series. Nearly done the first season and it’s been really good.

all of the seasons of Fargo so far are great.

Really enjoyed "The Great" on Hulu; pretty funny version of the Catherine the Great story

I think the last episode of the most recent season, Sluggo is in it a bunch.....

The format as sick....So many shows when they do season two, same characters...it fizzles...for me at least....

If the casting call was for “Minnesota Heavy” I could see how Sluggo would totally fit.

not sure if it has already been mentioned, but this craze:

i genuinely don't know if i loved this, or if i hated it, so nicely done on the director's part...i know i need to watch it again. what i will say is, although nobody seems to have said anything about this in anything i've read about it, the cinematographer clearly loves The Shining--motion, framing of human bodies and faces, slow/long tracking shots, etc...
