You guys have not had the displeasure of being within mere feet of the TGM brick and mortar. I have.
I live in Ypsilanti and was thinking of getting out there one day. What's the deal with that shop? I've heard they have insane old stuff in person.
I used to have an account with them when I owned my shop from 2003-2008. They had nice prices on discounted stuff from legit brands from past seasons. Keep in mind this was basically before internet shopping got huge and so getting some of the pro stuff at a discount was good. Also, they had premium blanks back then that were very good for $14 a pop, in addition to their Chinese moose blanks. The premium blanks were pressed on Canada by premiere(?) and they would even do heat transfers for a couple bucks extra.
They sold all kinds of shit back then. Discounted Carcas and dvd for $15 a pair, dvds for $1, hardware in multiple colors for 75cents. You could buy an action camera from them with a fisheye for $50 which I thought was cool at the time. This was like razor cellphone days.
All in all, I had a good experience with them and to get 4 color printed decks on good wood for $16 at the time was a good deal.
They stopped with the premium wood in 2007 or 8 and started to focus more on the moose and krown brand stuff.
That said, there was also a distribution called black market, from around 2004 or so. They were from Green Bay wi or Appleton. They made shoes that were $20 a pair wholesale. I sold a load of those shoes to broke kids and they held up pretty well. I even think they were made in the USA which is crazy.
