TGM can go fuck itself I'll never buy from them again. I bought a pair of shoes from them and they charged me sales tax. There is no sales tax in NYC on any clothing or shoe (under $110 per item). Most online places know this but occasionally some place will charge it. Happened with CCS/Daddies and I just shot them an email, hey there's no sales tax on this in New York. With those places they just said oops our bad and refunded the tax, no big deal. I emailed TGM and said the same thing and it started a long email chain with them basically telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and that you have to pay local sales tax as if you bought them in store locally. I told them I'm well aware, but this doesn't incur sales tax in NYC where I am. Even sent them the screenshot directly from nyc.gov where it shows that. They basically just said fuck you you don't know what you're talking about. Horrible customer service and a bunch of morons that work there. And/Or they're just scamming.

It's pretty hilarious to be so butthurt over what amounts to the same amount as a Starbucks drink. Michigan sales tax is 6% here, and no matter where you order from, you will pay it, unless the company has a store in NYC. You are essentially conducting a retail purchase in MI, and you agreed to pay that amount when you went through checkout. Daddies refunded you because it's in their interest and they're one of the largest online retailers in skateboarding. A small hit to them is nothing.

The irony of this is that TGM offers free shipping so you saved $10 by having free shipping. This isn't even an amount that they would keep, this goes directly to the state. TGM reaps no benefit, and if anything, is taking a loss by giving you free shipping.

Find a legitimate reason to be upset, and stop wasting the time of poor customer service representatives with nonsense.

As annoying as the sentiment is, he’s broadly correct that most states let buyers be exempted from sales if they’re buying from a state without sales tax. It’s not as simple as not charging tax - there’s usually a complex and onerous form one must complete. I used to deal with this regularly with bicycle retail, where seeking an exemption often meant saving hundreds of dollars. Bitching about 6% tax on your sub-hundred dollar purchase is just whiny and honestly I appreciate TGM just saying “go fuck yourself”.

That is not at all how this works, and you two have no idea what that interaction is or what they said. Or the number of times they completely contradicted themselves. You two are a couple of fucking morons and complete tools.

Anyone know if those uma boards are square ish?

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.

I couldn’t get a photo of the kicks and concave cause the clear wrap kinda made them hard to see. But let me know if you want a certain pic or anything.

Edit. I suck at posting photos so hopefully these work.

They are some good pics, when I bring them up on full screen.

Are those dimensions really correct, not so much the width at 8.75 but more just questioning the 32.85 length with the 14.3 wheelbase?  Super long kicks if so.

Also can I copy this to the Woodshop thread, (full quote with your info as always) cause they are good pics for there too?

Thanks.

Yeah you can definitely use it for the woodshop thread.

I’m not sure if the dims are correct. I can check. I kinda assumed it was gonna be 14.24 or 14.375 cause 14.3 is kinda weird

Easy!

I was thinking more the overall length at almost 33 long, which to use the AH orange eagle which has a 15 wb with 33 length and long kicks, a shorter wheelbase with similar length board would be nuts!

Uma could have measured with the concave as the wheelbase is usually around the 14.2 to 14.5 for their boards anyway.

I posted a couple of each measurement cause it was hard to hold the tape cause depending on the angle of the photo it looked like it was a different measurement but to me the length looked closer to 32.75 but the wheel base looked about 14.3. Like center looked between 14.25 and 14.375. But again it was kinda hard to hold the tape and get a good photo

If it helps, Uma uses the same shapes as Polar.

No they don't. They're the generic BBS shapes. Same as Passport, Magenta, Theories, etc.

I compared an Uma to my board yesterday and it's identical in every way. I stood on a Polar as well and the Polar has a larger nose and pointy tail. They're the only BBS brand with that.
