Not necessarily a hardcore song but Turnstile is making me cry again dammit. Played a show last night for the first time in over a year and this video made me really nostalgic

Hell yeah, Speed rips

@Freelancevagrant great suggestions as always, especially Ledge, I'm an instant fan!

I just went to my first show back last Thursday, went and saw Fixation, Raw Brigade, Life's Question, End It, and Queensway up in Baltimore. So much fun, I had missed that energy so much. Only got in the mix during End It because A: I love them and B: I'm 32 and very out of shape but holy shit what a good time. Met one of the guitarists from Turnstile and the vocalist from Shackled just hanging out catching the show, they were both super cool.

That show looked sick, probably was a great vibe. Absolutely stacked lineup, I’m dying to see Life’s Question, one of my favorite hardcore bands rn, also a massive Queensway fan.

Hate5six posted a Raw Brigade show in jersey recently… i wanna see ‘em now.

Little powerviolence-y, but solid band out of L.A. i think

RJC is the shit, one of the best records this year for sure! I’m kinda partial to Ian Shelton’s other project tho, Militarie Gun, thought their EP this year was stellar.
[close]

Life's Question was tight, went and bought a hat right after their set and I've worn it every day since lol. I always mix up Militarie Gun and Slow Fire Pistol in my head because I'm dumb. RJC is sick though.

@whitemanjazz next time Raw Brigade is anywhere near you definitely go see them. They're so good live. Plus the singer was moshing for every other band on the bill.

Right on ! I’ll have to check out Sheltons other band…. I really enjoy abrasive vocals. Reminds me a little of Rorschach

@InternetDaddy for sure! Hope some hardcore bands head this way (Houston). Gwar, Eyehategod, And Napalm Death are coming in November. Ear drum destroyers lmao

Yo i fucking loved this new track. Stoked to see Turnstile really pushing the boundaries of hardcore without coming off contrived or "sell out" like. Those dudes can never disappoint me, super dope to be a young dude and that be THE fucking band rn.

YOOO stoked to hear that, I really fuck with that Ten High tape, those first two tracks make me wanna tear down dry wall with my bear hands. And I havent checked out this new release but enjoyed Songs To Yeet At The Sun (especially since the title inspiration is one of my fav hardcore records ever)

Yes dude! Lmk if you fuck with Militarie Gun! They're more in the realm of Drug Church/Gouge Away sound, so not strictly hardcore, but I am down with it heavy. And good drop, fucking Rorscach guitar tones are unbeatable.

Also just shoutout this thread. Slap is obvi about skating, but this thread gets me so psyched when i see new posts.

Can’t forget Ringworm! Cleveland legends along with Integrity. The Human Furnace is a real friendly dude too. Got to see them in 2018 at this real small joint. They were probably sick of me flailing like a damn goon all night, but it’s ringworm, man lmao

Ringworm is fucking incredible. Just absolutely crushing and every bit as important as integrity. I had a really similar experience seeing them around 2011 I think. It was one of the shows I will never forget. Between going ballistic for damn near an hour straight, but also seeing them in a small venue playing on the floor; Jesus Christ it was insane.

Edit, another Ohio favorite:

I am sorry for spamming this thread lately and will back of, I’m just bored at work and this is one of my favorite things to talk about.

Holy shit, I forgot how good vile gash was!

Back in the mid 90’s Dennis (singer of vile gash), was in an incredible screamo band called three studies for a crucifixion. Here is a split they did with Harriet the spy, who were also from Ohio and also incredible. I haven’t  thought about either of these band since like 2015 haha I remember picking this split up at headline records years ago

VG are sick. Not to be a nerd, but Dennis is the drummer. Andy is the vocalist. Also I forgot about Harriet the Spy. Ohio is tight.

No way, that's a very rad piece of trivia. I like the bleed over from screamo to some of the weirder 2000s HC.

I am right there with you my dude!

This ones a little personal, but the screamo band I sang for like 7 years ago is going to be recording another ep next week. Been difficult to link back up with the dudes, between falling out of touch and them still living in California and me in Texas, it’s been rough but I’m super stoked to make some more music with the dudes. We loved doing a cover of jeromes dream on the last record and want to do it again but with another band. If any pals want to offer their input or suggest something else, please by all means do. The following are the tracks I’d like to cover:

This is the track I really want to cover. I’d have to record vocals in Texas because there’s no way we could get that shit done in the time I’m out there. But this is by far my favorite pageninetynine track and I think would be a super fun track to cover, plus it’s about aliens and weird shit.

@Freelancevagrant That is (one of) my favorite NP tracks. They used to play pretty much every other show in my hometown, regardless of the lineup. I get psyched when I see people still appreciating them and JFFB.

Also psyched to hear you are going to get back to making music...do post when it is done.

Their side of the split with a days refrain we’re the first three tracks I heard by them and was absolutely blown away. Ive introduced them to a few homies and will always recommend listening to that split first. It is literally like the best intro into Neil Perry: Sorry for this misunderstanding, fading away like the rest of them, and looking back at the way you want to be.

I am just green with jealous rage you got to see jffb and neil perry. I realized like ten years ago that I will love Josh Jakubowski is in. Because I fucking adore hot cross too.

Here’s the only line up photo we ever took. A bunch of nerds post show in a Taco Bell parking lot, but prominently displayed are both my bootlegged jffb hoodie and our guitarists bootlegged Kodan Armada hoodie.

I’m always self conscious about sharing, but since you asked I will absolutely do so.

Also and to not derail the thread, here is hot cross’ first full length, cryonics.

Hell yeah. I love all JFFB obvs but for me the two frontman era (with Joe doing Vox along with Larry) is the best.

I never had any shirts or anything from either band, but I remember when Welcome the Plague Year played their first show (with Envy from Japan and I think Malady) I was like "Yo, I'm going to buy so much of their merch!!!" and brought like $50, which I proceeded to lose pretty much as soon as I got to the show. Every time I saw them after that, they weren't selling shirts or anything. I think at one point I managed to snag a patch, though.

God damn it, that is an absolutely brutal story. I’ve had similar shit happen to me, but it was only like $20 and was at a comadre/graf orlock show.

From someone who missed seeing them by like 3-4 years, the two singer era looks like it had the best shows. Essentially since Youtube came out I’ve spent so many hours on watching shows and wishing for that way back machine.

I still do it literally all the time. Just trying to get paid for being a freelance screamo historian.

Also, if y’all want me to fuck off and just start a screamo thread I gladly will!  I’m not trying to be annoying as hell and spam y’all with what I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

These are a few good ones that I realllllly wish I got to see.

Here’s two singer era jffb in Newark, Delaware circa 99.

Here’s pageninetynine playing by the fireplace in white in a skatepark in ct, 2000. In the crowd you can see Jeff and Eric from jeromes dream, the dudes from love lost but not forgotten, and the dudes from breed/extinction. Been obsessed with this one for like 10 years.

Here’s jeromes dream’s set from the same night. Jeff’s vocals are absolutely unreal in this one.

These are from a show with jeromes dream and usurp synapse playing in a boxing ring in Bakersfield circa 2000.
