I used to work with Larry from Welcome the Plague Year, around 05. Also, if I haven’t already given it away, I am from Newark, DE. Originally came to this thread and o post this:

Thats the best one. That intro to "Millions Lost..." is fucking hot and the whole side just goes. I don't revisit a lot of stuff from that era too often but that one has never really left the rotation.

Great interview, never knew any of this about Dane and I think it just made him a new favorite of mine. Reading Pick Your King as one of his top 5 straight gave me goosebumps lmao I’m wearing my Poison Idea shirt right now.

I am right there with you my dude!

This ones a little personal, but the screamo band I sang for like 7 years ago is going to be recording another ep next week. Been difficult to link back up with the dudes, between falling out of touch and them still living in California and me in Texas, it’s been rough but I’m super stoked to make some more music with the dudes. We loved doing a cover of jeromes dream on the last record and want to do it again but with another band. If any pals want to offer their input or suggest something else, please by all means do. The following are the tracks I’d like to cover:

This is the track I really want to cover. I’d have to record vocals in Texas because there’s no way we could get that shit done in the time I’m out there. But this is by far my favorite pageninetynine track and I think would be a super fun track to cover, plus it’s about aliens and weird shit.

those are great tracks to cover. what's your band called?

when it comes to screamo, everything past 2001 is getting a little to clever and cliché, but this record was incredibly amazing and i'm shocked that the band hasn't become more popular (Sharazad that is – Makara is also amazing though).

this one is probably one records that was super influential for one of the bands i played in around 99/00 – although we ended up sounding quite different

for the post 2001 screamo being too clever person here: have you ever checked out lord snow? at this point i’ve seen the majority of the modern screamo bands people care about and didn’t like any of them really - except lord snow. every time i hear it i’m blown away by a new portion of the tunes and they are mind-bending live. their drummer is one of the best i’ve ever seen do it.

i stumbled upon Lord Snow here & there, but never properly listened. But I will give it try. Thanks. Usually I'm more on the Heroin, Mohinder, Portraits of Past, Orchid side of Screamo things....

i look at em like jazz more so than like a hardcore band, so it might not hit your ear great, but i can’t recommend em enough. watched em every day for a month and still tried to make sure i caught every set

haha, pretty sure that's the singer of Laid 2 Rest that clocked him too. Seemed like he realized that he had goofed and didn't get mad about it which is good
Look I'm not selling anything that doesn't have my jizz on it. I don't care how much is offered.

Oooo good catch, i do think that’s him. Short, but stout.

About a decade ago i saw a few local bands at this venue and had like a 10 dollar tall boy (i think that’s any big city price). I Was standing on the edge of pit and this kid judo kicked my beer i shit you not, 10 feet in the air. It felt like a moment from an Adam Sandler movie haha sucks i lost a beer, but it was pretty funny.

New Dare album certified slaps, really fun band to see live

Also a big fan of Anaiah’s work in Zulu. Orange County and the Bay Area are really having a moment in hardcore right now, dope to see.

WELCOME TO THE HARDSTYLE!

I love siege and I love that track! Subjectively though, there are a few that I like way more. Here’s a few I can think of off the top of my head from different subgenres you might appreciate. There’s some lesser known gems here and some obviously popular tracks (within hardcore).

that siege track is for sure on the mount rushmore of hardcore basslines

@freelancevagrant posted a few that are also contenders, but wanted to toss a few of my personal favs in the mix

Still working through these but Whoa that conflict song was crazy. Bass line sounds like it would be in like An early pastels song or something. Also, I always thought ceremony sucked…really bad. But that bass tone in that track that was posted was on point. I feel like the wrong bass tone can really fuck everything up in hc. Also never really gave those youth crew type groups much of a chance but that chain of strength song was pretty tight.  Also think I remember Boston strangler being super hyped on the youth attack jerkbooth back when I used to lurk on there. You know. The 4chan of punk.

Dude, young parasites and their live cover of banned from the UK (also has a NASTY bass line) are two of the most underrated anarcho tracks of all time. They’ve got some wild bass lines I’ll include. Im finally off work and give this the effort it deserves and I went absolutely overboard but I think everyone will enjoy. Dude I haven’t thought about jerkbooth in so long holy shit

Here’s the ones I didn’t have time to post earlier but easily deserve to mentioned as the greats.
